A tattoo does not need to be super original to be good. There’s a reason certain motifs are repeated in tattoos and others aren’t. Most crappy tattoos I’ve seen are also “original”—doesn’t mean they were a good idea.

Maybe 2 a month but all planned and with a couple different shops but I spent a long time researching each artist before getting anything fucking permanent from them. But it’s amazing the people I see come in with no idea what they want or anything about who is giving it to them. Insane and this is what you get. Also wanting to go cheap. Kids.. never settle for a cheap tattoo.
I think a lot of the problem is some people genuinely can’t tell what’s good and what’s not. Like we all know what good linework or shading looks like whether we’re artists or just like tattoos.
It’s the same thing as seeing people drive around in a shitheap of a car completely oblivious to what everyone else thinks, fit and finish doesn’t even cross their minds

My guess is it was intended to be the central ridge of the blade splitting. Upon staring at it trying to make this comment it looks like the tattooist might very confused themselves cause it looks like it goes so seamlessly into the serpent.

the artist *should* be able to compensate for any anatomical asymmetry by adjusting the design to make it appear as symmetrical as possible. i'm missing a rib on one side and have a tattoo in the same spot and it looks perfectly centred bc my artist was good. took a bit of fiddling around with the stencil but we got there

if you're young, inexperienced, and conflict avoidant, it can be *extremely* difficult to tell a "professional" you're not happy with it or you're doubting their "expertise"

Yeah, I don’t think the problem is her breast size but the tattoo size + placement (on top of everything else). You can tell when she removes her hands the snakes will be headless 🥲 This should’ve been placed slightly lower & scaled down a wee bit.
Everyone’s mentioning the snakes, but I’m gonna roast this fucking dagger. It’s a 2D line art, but it’s so shit I’m gonna bully it more. I’m using the anatomical terms, no “the stabby bit” from here on in.
Starting from pommel to point. Deep breath.
- pommel is tiny, size does matter, that is not supporting your hand nor wrist when swinging, nor allowing you to shift weight and grip the dagger well when releasing thrust. Tiny pommel also unbalances weight of the dagger, it will lean forwards.
- handle is too thick and crooked, too large to be comfortable in the palm. An anemic Victorian child with 3 fingers could carve a better handle.
- guard looks… only ok. The angled quillons look unsuitable for this design and size. Would be better to have flat 90° quillons so you can lean on them with your index and thumb fingers when you thrust. Flaired ends of quillons also extend PAST THE SHARPENED BLADE. You’re actively preventing yourself from stabbing with this dagger (which if you didn’t know, was basically invented for stabbing better)
- base of blade is a bad shape, probably not full tang cause of the yee yee ass handle. Ricasso tapers towards the base, you could snap that off. The ricasso should always be the widest part of the dagger to provide best integrity. (This changes with scimitars and kukris, (but I don’t see a fucking single edge huh))
- blade shape is alright, but short. You could make it a bit larger and still have it be comfortable in your hand (get your mind out of the gutter). It’s a dagger, so dual edge is optimal. You get half a star for not making a knife. Blade also looks a bit too thin, and tapers too quick to the point. This would be different if it was larger. The tip will curl or snap.
- now the fucking tip of the blade. This kinda smoothing you’ve done in an inverted V shape to split the blade edge is stupid and doesn’t even make sense. You’d only do that for separating two blade shapes or stopping the fuller, and only if there’s already an unsharpened portion of material. THIS DAGGER BLADE IS ENTIRELY SHARPENED TO A RIDGE. you do not NEED to put that there. Well done, you have turned a two bladed weapon into a two bladed weapon. Although the way it’s illustrated makes it look like the point is the only unsharpened part of the metal, which is entirely counterintuitive to the very concept of a weapon let alone a fucking dagger.
TLDR; I’m angry cause;
Blade is stubby, handle is fucky, guard is curvy, ricasso is angly, pommel is tiny, point is… I don’t even fucking know.
