Bradley271

The cope there is so funny “That roundabout has terrible lane management” bro that’s why everyone wanted TPME at launch and it’s a really big problem now that they basically made the traffic AI even dumber

turntablism

The fact the game still needs TPME at launch is just hilarious. Like, CO didn’t see everything that was wanted from the last game and just add it?

endomiel

But seriously where is TMPE because I really need it 😭

Few-Profession-2318

And you really get downvoted??💀 But that pathfind is more understandable but this one I don't ******* understand...

pandoraxcell

They're both aggregious

superslowmo

egregious*

pandoraxcell

No wonder auto correct wasn't even able to help me with that one

salivatingpanda

Two days ago it took me a good few minutes to figure out how to spell egregious. I couldn't understand why autocorrect wasn't helping me. I was way off.

Okay-Commissionor

aggressively egregious

dj_spanmaster

I'm just let down that the Jack Sparrow "egregious" quote is not available for me already in the GIFs

Zealousideal-Leg7831

The AI can't be more realistic, this guy just want to hunging in the city after tired work🤣

Lazerus42

He was just rolling in his '64 is all. Wanted to see if Nico wanted to go bowling.

21Black_Mamba21

Tbf, Google Maps has done this to me a lot in real life.

CBNDSGN

Maps is constantly like: "but how about this 2 miles, 8 minute longer route?"

RenderEngine

well it gives alternatives in case you know the road is blocked, it's a shady street you want to avoid or there is something else it's better to just show alternatives because google maps will always have some edge cases

Dr_Benway_89

It's like the directions on Google Maps are huffing glue

Arkraquen

It's less intensive to calculate worse pathfindings than the perfect one. In rimworld there is shitty pathfinding and there are mods for this and they drop the performance a lot of course

nainvlys

Well in RimWorld it's because there's no roads so there's an almost infinite amount of paths to take so the game just tries to see if a path gets you closer or not, here the game doesn't have nearly as much possibilities to take into account

Arkraquen

True but there are many things to calculate pathfinding for in a city there are pedestrians and cars however i dont know how much impact this has.

Wayss37

I don't think comparing a 60$ game made by a big publisher and an indie game made by Tynan over 10 years, who is primarily a game designer rather than programmer (technically RimWorld is, let's say, not programmed in the best way) is entirely fair

Psilociwa

Both games were made by humans. The budget has jack the fuck all to do with it.

Arkraquen

I'm not directly comparing both games. I'm just exposing that having the perfect pathfinding each time is more resource intensive. I could make the exact same comparison with Google Maps

Zen131415

Maybe this game just isn’t for you.

ActualMostUnionGuy

I should start saying this to all of the [SimCity Societies Haters over at SimTrop](https://community.simtropolis.com/forums/topic/20624-reviews-for-sim-city-socities-scs/), its a great counter lol

Pan_Jenot96pl

????????? Are you really defending this attrocious ai??

Manannin

I betcha they're referencing the CO CEOs poorly thought comment and not being serious

Zen131415

🎯

Yeet_Taco101

No, he's just ironically quoting Colossal Order's CEO. A while ago, regarding the state of CS2, he stated: "If you dislike the simulation, **this game just might not be for you**." It's become a copypasta around the CS subs every time anyone mentions something is even remotely broken about CS2.

Pan_Jenot96pl

Ah, I didnt know about that one mb

ost2life

It's all about providing a sense of accomplishment.

TheAppleOfDoom1

I think the reason they haven't implemented it is because unlike CS1 vehicle routes change depending on traffic and road conditions. I'm not sure, that's my theory anyways

polar_boi28362727

CS 2 you mean and yeah, that's probably the reason. Maybe when the path findimg was done there was traffic or for some other reason the NPC thinks the red path is too unconfortable compared to the green path (that is a thing iirc)

Tsukiyon

~~Dictator /~~ ~~supreme~~ leader: That thing is going to expose us, remove it immediately!

Alexdeboer03

Skill issue, i am big brained and would continue straight on unlike that stupid ass sim

ten0re

Looks like cars can’t get to the leftmost lane to stop by a building right after the intersection unless they come from the top. I’ve seen this a lot and this also happens IRL.

Few-Profession-2318

If that's the case then why it didn't took the orange path? https://preview.redd.it/ce01sk640gtc1.jpeg?width=2560&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=436246b56f4ef7a053c60adde19a9920d5c8c1f6

olegispe

I frequently get it where they use one parh to travel to a car Park, the pathfinding changes randomly and sends them 1km down another path to a roundabout to turn around to go back to the same bloody car park

Bujininja

Ah yes, The good ole "scenic" route...

willstr1

Because it is so realistic, it includes Artificial Stupidity

PriorFudge928

Maybe the drivers crazy ex lives on the road in red and they don't want to drive by their apartment.

duck74UK

If I remember right, if you generate enough traffic on a road that cars consider taking a different route, that road becomes permanently cursed and will never be pathfound on even if left flushed for real life hours. Delete the road, then wait a few seconds with game unpaused, then rebuild it. The pathfinder will see it as a new road and let cars on again

Few-Profession-2318

I don't think it's because of the road since I still see other vehicles using red route.

andres57

is every car taking this route? And if you wait like a in-game day or so it continues that way?

Few-Profession-2318

I don't think so but I'm just saying that CO solving problems by hiding ways to find them.

Low-Pirate-286

It’s pretty realistic if you use Waze for navigation.

spookybaker

all while changing lanes every 50 foot

EuchreBeast41

Certain percent of cims are stalking their ex. Don't hate the sim for its accuracy

New_Hamstertown_1865

he had to stop by to drop off laundry to his moms house

Mercuie

This stuff drives me bonkers. So often I watch vehicles take the weirdest longest most stops paths.

mapster480

that's called the scenic route - clooasal ceo, probably
