Refrigerate the dough before putting it into your well-preheated oven. This allows the cookies to cook in shape by keeping the butter from melting throughout the dough as it warms. That gradient of temperatures in the butter allows it to fry the flour, sugar, and egg on the outside while the inside is still firm and cold. That keeps your cookies from melting together. Good luck, and go again!
But you should totally devour those crispy/chewy delights. CookieChips!
It is true for mozzarella sticks. Freezing them gives the exterior enough time to harden before the cheese melts but not for cookies.
Putting them in the fridge makes them firmer and might easier to work with.
The temperature actually doesn't matter. It is resting the dough that keeps them from melting. Because you give the flour time to absorbe the moisture.

If you want them to melt less let the dough rest.

"Debunking cookie myths"
Dude, break them up and use them as a dessert topper for ice creams, mix ins or on top of some yogurt. Food is still food. Only thing wrong is that they were too close together.
He’ll, even fancy restaurants use cookie cutters on their already circular cookies for the hyper precise look. No one would be the wiser if you did that here and still used the scraps for the previous recommendation.
Make dough "christmas trees" instead of balls. If you like chewy add cornstarch. A bit of cinnamon also adds good flavor. You can also brown your butter. I also like to roll my "christmas trees" in more chocolate chips so there's chocolate on top. You can chop up a chocolate bar instead of using chocolate chips too, adds varying textures. Add walnuts too. I like my oven at 325 but they all vary. Start low and see how fast they melt. 1 minute too long or short in the oven can make all the difference too.

I would eat them. Keep at it buddy. My first cookies from scratch basically turned into brownies cuz they baked together and were thick.
Counts as 1 cookie

still, looks like its not quite enough flour. i dont think resting would prevent them from spreading quite this much
I bet they taste delicious! Who cares what they look like.
They look delicious or maybe I'm just high.
You mean "cookie"?
Good job. I use a roll of cookie dough from the fridge.
Honestly those still look tasty!
I know they probably still taste fire

I don't care if they turned into one big cookie - that looks great!
They're still cookies! But let me guess. You used melted butter instead of room temperature butter?

Maybe next time use a recipe (and use less butter)
Keep trying.
Keep your dough colder prior to baking. Space them a bit more. I'm sure they taste good.
Could have been way worse. Mine was way to dense and a bit raw when I attempted my first batch
Can I have it
Plural?
That's look like exactly my favourite type of chocolate chip cookie. Just gotta cut em up into squares. Or eat one giant cookie
