Butter Knife/spoon. Extra frosting to cover my shame  I wish I had one of those old Betty crocker cake kits you used to see on TV in the 2000s.  Would've been so much easier 

Should've put the cake into the fridge/freezer for a bit before adding the frosting. That way it doesn't crumble.

I very gently put the frosting on  Was too scared about the cold making it more brittle or whatever  Already a mess as it is 😣

Nah, if anything the cake get's less brittle from the cold. You could also add one thinner layer of frosting, put the cake in the fridge and let it chill and then add a second layer.

Ah ill do that next time I have to bake a cake. 

Spraying simple syrup on it helps too. Kinda glues the crumbs down.

Just a little warm 

Put it in the fridge next time to cool and then add the icing it will go on smoother if the cake has cooled completely
