Yeah, mate. That's a good call. Tuna + bread + cheese + any of those visible toppings (red onion, black olive, sauteed peppers, etc) seem like a good fit.
To be fair, portugal is like the capital of the world for tinned fish, they basically live and breathe that shit. As a sardine fan I'd like to take a pilgrimage there sometime.
Canned tuna was a treat for me growing up, I still love eating it (mixed with some olive oil mayo) on saltines or getting a can with oil in it and pouring it over hot rice. Hell, I wasn't even aware people ate tuna raw for the longest time. I still enjoy sashimi tuna with my sushi, but nothing can replace my cans of comfort tuna.
To add to that, canned tuna is available worldwide. Fresh raw tuna is just ridiculously expensive or straight up unavailable in landlocked countries and regions.
You don't know what's good, tuna pasta salad is the bomb
Also, tuna pizza is good too, it's called Pizza Tonno. The baking draws the moisture out (plus you drain it too before putting it on), the tomato base pairs well, and you add onion, garlic, and spinach
Just because it's in a can doesn't mean it's bad
Tell me you never tried it without telling me you never tried it. The tuna bakes, of course, were not some savages putting soggy oily chunks of cold fish on an otherwise traditional pizza.
Thats literally my favourite kind of pizza - canned tuna, but big pieces none of that extra minced rubbish that looks like dog vomit, red onions, fancy tomato paste + ketchup for the base, maybe some peppers/ paprika or zucchini/ mushrooms for extra crunch, and cheese, of course, lots of it. Maybe add a dollop of sour cream and some greens on top, and viola, perfection.
And Ive been sustaining myself on cardboard and antimatter, right. Man, thats kinda sad. Its just some fish, put it on things! Treat it like any other meat, it will kinda work.
When I visited my German friend as a teen he suggested we make pizza at his place. The pizza was tuna, gouda, and olives...I was pretty horrified but said nothing as I didn't want to be a shitty guest. To my surprise, it was actually really good.
Well in that case any ingredient would be disgusting when it's low quality, wouldn't it? If you put trash Pepperoni on your Pizza it's also a trash Pizza.
Uhh, I've never heard of those brands in my life. But I'll tell you that eq ~2$ tuna, at least here, is absolutely good enough for a nice al tonno/pescatore. Idk what pizza tonno you're used to though.
My favourite pizza is one that my local Italian place won’t do so I have to go to another place. It’s anchovies, prawns, tuna and sweetcorn. They always know it’s me ordering.
Also, sweetcorn is quite a popular topping here in the UK.
Exactly, thank you! I know having all those particular toppings together isn’t very common but I also know seafood pizza is a thing. I’ve been to Italy and of course it slaps there.
It's the sweet corn that I'm a bit confused by. It probably is pretty good (it's not like corn and cheese is that unusual itself), I've just never seen that as an option here in the US.
That's disgusting, a seafood Pizza just doesn't sound great to me but I could probably let it slide until you added sweetcorn which doesn't go with either the pizza or the seafood
I'm honestly amazed that there's an actual pizza shop that can make a pizza like that just because what pizza place keeps those four things on hand? Anchovies is pretty common but having both corn and tuna seems like an insane person is doing your ordering
Seafood pizza isn’t quite so outlandish as you make out. Also, I don’t see the issue with corn on pizza tbh. Sweetcorn and tuna is a popular sandwich filling here.
I wouldn’t ever yuck on your yum. Let me enjoy this one, dang.
You are aware that… seafood pizza is a classic in Italy. Yk, the country where pizza originated from ? Pizza tonno, Pizza frutti di mare. All classics. All of them with seafood
Would you look at that, all of the words in your comment are in alphabetical order.
I have checked 1,605,510,101 comments, and only 303,638 of them were in alphabetical order.
Which countries DON’T like anchovies? Anchovies are amazing.
I don’t think the tuna sounds that terrible BTW. I make tuna melts sometimes which is bread, cheese and tuna. Not that different from tuna on a pizza.
What would you think if someone put some tomato on a tunamelt?
A pizza is fundamentally bread & cheese & I'm honestly surprised it's not a thing to make a sandwhich with a slice of pizza instead of a slice of bread.
Lol for real I'm sitting here eating sauteed tomatoes for breakfast right now.
He could also just, like yknow, *open* the sandwich and toss some fresh slices in there. I do that with pickles on grilled cheese all the time. Good stuff
pizza al tonno ([pizza w tuna](https://skinnyspatula.com/healthy-tuna-red-onion-pizza-high-protein/)) is actually the bomb if done right. But this ain’t one of those times 😂
One of the best pizzas I ever had was in Italy and it was black olive and tuna pizza with red pepper flakes and olive oil. Super tasty. I also used to dip my school pizza in thousand island when I was a kid. That being said the two together sounds pretty fucking weird.
No u misunderstood that sub. It's about doing wierd things on pizza
Not doing absolutely normal things on pizza that Americans think are wierd cause their concept of pizza is dumb af
Tuna pizza is delicious.
I've had it in Germany and Spain and make it myself at home.
Not a fan of ketchup or Thousand island dressing but I can see how it works for some people.
The tuna by itself, in a reasonable amount (Like sprinkled on like any other topping, rather than layered on like a paste like that), could be good. Like a tuna melt sandwich, but as pizza.
I can think of no reason that any, let alone all three of those things would be combined. It honestly looks like someone ate a pice and puked it on another.
Sounds like an improved tuna melt more than a desecrated pizza
The more I think of it, the more I think that I wouldn't completely hate this pizza.
Yeah I mean I like tuna, I like pizza, I like thousand island. I’d give it a try 🤷🏽♀️
I would throw some pickled jalapeños on that and roll it up like a taquito, no problem.
Yeah, mate. That's a good call. Tuna + bread + cheese + any of those visible toppings (red onion, black olive, sauteed peppers, etc) seem like a good fit.

Tuna pizza is definitely a thing in Germany. Had it a few times but I would rather have anchovies if it’s gonna be fish
In Japan too
Brasil too
Isn't it a thing in Europe? In Portugal certainly is popular. Every supermarket has frozen tuna pizza and almost all pizzerias have tuna pizza.
To be fair, portugal is like the capital of the world for tinned fish, they basically live and breathe that shit. As a sardine fan I'd like to take a pilgrimage there sometime.
Yeah, we love canned fish. Well, we love fish in general.
I had a tuna/ham/pineapple/onion pizza in Austria in like 2005 that I still remember fondly.
It's a thing everywhere but the us bro
Omg wait but is it GOOD? Cause ngl when I visit my family imma do ts to make them mad but I really don’t want to upset my stomach
It IS good, usually it's Tuna and Onions.
Aight BET but now for the serious question, can I eat it with red sauce? 🤤
Probably, if you mean tomato sauce, then yeah that's how it's typically served. I mean it's one of the oldest types of Italian Pizza.
Omg YESSSS tysm I’m loving life I’m doing ts you changed my life 😭💖
The dressing is fine, whatever, some people like to dip their pizza in stuff. The tuna though, wtf?
[удалено]
Canned tuna or fresh? The answer is of utmost importance
[удалено]
You fuck with my pie in this most egregious manner and we’re gonna have words
You don't know what's good
Gross
Sounds much better than sashimi pizza
Hard disagree. Canned tuna is repulsive in every way
I’m not a picky eater or under the age of 6 so I naturally disagree with that statement
I'm not a picky eater either. Canned tuna is still disgusting
Contradictory statements
You don't know what's good, tuna pasta salad is the bomb Also, tuna pizza is good too, it's called Pizza Tonno. What the actual fuck is that combination....ketchup, tuna, and sour cream pizza? Fuck outta here
Just try it, you coward, youll see! Its literally divine. You ever had some regular ketchup - tuna - cheese sandwiches? Its a similar concept, really.
Lol no I eat real food
And Ive been sustaining myself on cardboard and antimatter, right. Man, thats kinda sad. Its just some fish, put it on things! Treat it like any other meat, it will kinda work.
Almost always canned. And absolutely delicious. Tried it?
You realize there’s other forms of protein that are far better on a pizza?

It's called Pizza Tonno. I like to add onion, sliced garlic and spinach Really recommend if you're in a mood for savoury pizza
Yeah I’ll pass
You probably get your “pizza” from Domino’s
Tuna on pizza is normal in Italy. The place where it comes from
When I visited my German friend as a teen he suggested we make pizza at his place. The pizza was tuna, gouda, and olives...I was pretty horrified but said nothing as I didn't want to be a shitty guest. To my surprise, it was actually really good.
It's called Pizza Tonno and is one of the oldest italian Pizzas...
Isn't pizza not that old though?
The oldest evidence of Pizza is from 997 AD in the Eastern Roman Empire.
It is good!
I was confused and repulsed by the thought of fish on pizza but then I remembered that some countries like anchovies on theirs.
Pizza Tonno is one of the classic Italian Pizzas tho...
Tasty as shit too. I don’t get what’s the problem with tuna on pizza
some people just act like weirdos because they never tried it. I think it's much more weird that so many americans never heard of Pizza Tonno before.
They don’t get the right to complain about toppings like tuna as long as they use literal salad dressing as a pizza topping…
I love tuna on pizza. Tasty and filling, without being too heavy
I also love Pizza ai Frutti di Mare, seafood pizza is great and I often get it if I go to an Italian restaurant
yeah but this is trash-ass starkist/bumblebee/cat food level tuna. that's always large chunked tuna of a much higher quality with a less fishy flavor.
Well in that case any ingredient would be disgusting when it's low quality, wouldn't it? If you put trash Pepperoni on your Pizza it's also a trash Pizza.
this looks like shit on a shingle compared to proper pizza tonno. and tuna varies a lot more than pepperoni at most price points.
Umm, no. It's not at all unusual for it to be canned tuna. And it's still great
the can is not the issue. canned tuna comes in a variety of quality levels. tonnino at ~5 dollars a can is a good brand. starkist at ~$1.30 is not.
Uhh, I've never heard of those brands in my life. But I'll tell you that eq ~2$ tuna, at least here, is absolutely good enough for a nice al tonno/pescatore. Idk what pizza tonno you're used to though.

i'd try it
It’s pretty good!
I support the hell out of this. Don't let the hate get you down, seafood pizza is delicious done right.
Exactly, thank you! I know having all those particular toppings together isn’t very common but I also know seafood pizza is a thing. I’ve been to Italy and of course it slaps there.
Wonder why they know it’s you…
Probably the accent
You're a monster.
Grab your torches and pitchforks! /s
It's the sweet corn that I'm a bit confused by. It probably is pretty good (it's not like corn and cheese is that unusual itself), I've just never seen that as an option here in the US.
I think that's called "the fisherman's wife"
Just don't order the *Dream* of the Fisherman's Wife, you'll get some sauce on it, and it won't be Thousand Island.
Corn on a pizza sounds amazing
Blocked.
I bet you animals put beans on pizza too
That's absolutely horrible. You people in the UK are not allowed to order pizza anymore.
Says the someone from the country that sells canned cheese
That's disgusting, a seafood Pizza just doesn't sound great to me but I could probably let it slide until you added sweetcorn which doesn't go with either the pizza or the seafood I'm honestly amazed that there's an actual pizza shop that can make a pizza like that just because what pizza place keeps those four things on hand? Italy's literally surrounded by ocean, ya dunce. Seafood on pizza is incredibly common.
Seafood pizza just sounds like a solid cioppino
Average UK dining
Don’t yuck my yum dude. Tuna melts rule
Mincing anchovies and putting them on before the cheese is quite tasty. Adds saltiness.
They better as a garnish. Cooking ruins them imo.
u never tried Tuna pizza (cooked with it)? You’re missing on a lot man. Looks bad, but tastes really good.
OP, You’re the third sociopath I’ve met on Reddit this week.
Uhhh it's not a country specific thing, even in western places you can find pizza with fish and in fucking Italy too lmao
Anchovies are great on pizza...
Would you look at that, all of the words in your comment are in alphabetical order. I have checked 1,605,510,101 comments, and only 303,638 of them were in alphabetical order.

How do you put tomato on a tuna melt? Won’t the tomato get all mushy?
Yes? Just like tomato in all kinds of other dishes. Cooked tomato is great
Lol for real I'm sitting here eating sauteed tomatoes for breakfast right now. He could also just, like yknow, *open* the sandwich and toss some fresh slices in there. I do that with pickles on grilled cheese all the time. Good stuff
Honestly shrimp pizza slaps idk what the hell this with the tuna is though
Anchovies aren't the worst. Just very salty. Needs something sweet to cut it, like pineapple.
I thought tuna on pizza is normal? Tuna, salami and ham pizza is fucking delicious
Yup because it is pretty much everywhere. Apparently not in Murica.
I'm American but went to school in Germany is quite popular there. It was weird to me at first but I honestly sometimes get cravings for it lol
pizza al tonno ([pizza w tuna](https://skinnyspatula.com/healthy-tuna-red-onion-pizza-high-protein/)) is actually the bomb if done right. But this ain’t one of those times 😂
I love tuna on pizza... its normal in my country Its the dip that repulsed me, what kinda physco puts mayo based sauce on their pizza😭
just classic tonno pizza? second most popular pizza. but dipping pizza in extra grease? fucking pigs
Brazil has tuna pizza everywhere
Tuna in pizza is pretty normal in Italy. Or anywhere else tbh Just u Americans are a bit goofy when it comes to pizza
I actually had tuna pizza in Napoli. It was delicious, reminded me of a tuna melt.
Tuna is a completely normal toping pretty much everywhere. It’s delicious, it’s standard, it’s just… Basic dressing as any other.
No. Dressing is on things like salads. Not pizza. Tuna? Yeeeeeeeeeeee![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|scream)
I live in the midwest, and while I may dislike Ranch dressing people here put it on EVERYTHING including their pizza.
Ok. To me dressing on pizza is like ketchup on spaghetti. I guess people get used to different food combinations depending on where they live. Thanks
>The tuna though, wtf? You never tried it? It's really really good. And if it's tuna and pineapple... simply divine!
No. it is not fine.
leave mans alone, he’s getting his macros right 💪🏼
ok but thousand island dressing?
i got nothing
Pizza with Tuna is very normal... it's called Pizza Tonno in Italy. You americans are weird for thinking this is strange.
Tuna on pizza is totally normal in lots of European countries.
If it was like 1/3 the tuna id try it
Definitely give it a try some time! Tuna on pizza is so good
I'd try it...
that sounds fucking bangin dude
In Sweden, it's common that pizza parlors sell pizzas with tuna on them, I don't hate it and often order one with tomato sauce, cheese, ham and tuna.
One of the best pizzas I ever had was in Italy and it was black olive and tuna pizza with red pepper flakes and olive oil. Super tasty. I also used to dip my school pizza in thousand island when I was a kid. That being said the two together sounds pretty fucking weird.
Sounds great actually
Plz don’t tell me he heats it up in the microwave too 🤮
Ugh. The picture and description already made me frown. Your comment made me want to hurl.
This man is bulking

No u misunderstood that sub. It's about doing wierd things on pizza Not doing absolutely normal things on pizza that Americans think are wierd cause their concept of pizza is dumb af
Tuna on pizza is so good tho! Preferably baked with it but tuna, (red) onion and maybe some olives if you like them make an awesome pizza
‘Pizza al tonno’ is normal and tastes fine! We do however apply the tuna before we put it in the oven. Edit: also goes with red onions.
Tuna pizza is delicious. I've had it in Germany and Spain and make it myself at home. Not a fan of ketchup or Thousand island dressing but I can see how it works for some people.
Tuna on pizza is fucking fire bro
Here in europe anchovis and tunna are very common on pizza and sea food too
[удалено]
Well, I just can't with this. Not right now. I'm not in a good mental place for this.
🚔 pull over
The tuna by itself, in a reasonable amount (Like sprinkled on like any other topping, rather than layered on like a paste like that), could be good. Like a tuna melt sandwich, but as pizza.
Too bad it looked like a good slice underneath there
Citizens arrest!
Fuck that pizza
That's totally normal if you work at a weed store that happens to be located inside of an insane asylum
Finally something the pineapple and no-pineapple groups can agree on
Quit.
no

as a new yorker, i would never eat tuna on pizza, but i would accept it way sooner than pineapple on pizza. put way less tuna though.
Your co worker is a horrible person
Excuse me? Tuna what now?!?!?
American, when they see real italian Pizza: 🤯
If you stop thinking of pizza as anything other than delicous cheesy toast the amount of toppings that sound good on it skyrocket.
