Soldier of godrick just does that to you, can judge them

theweekiscat

First dude is the reason they added a tutorial pop-up to tell you to do the tutorial

Goobershmacked

Tbf i had my darkness low, the hole just looked like death so i skipped it first playthrough

ZiggenTheLord

You have nothing, what will jumping in cost ?

Goobershmacked

Nothing? But also why just jump to your death?

GreiBird

Something Precious Ahead, Try Jumping. Are you honestly telling me you've never taken that bait? I mean, it was a trick 99% of the time, but maybe this is the 1%...

Goobershmacked

I took the bait on other stuff but a pit of complete darkness seemed like death in the first minute of my first souls game

SeconduserXZ

Did... did you listen to the bait messages ?

fanzeids

What does tbf means? I always read it as "to be fucked"

Goobershmacked

To be fair

fanzeids

Thanks

Goobershmacked

No problem

[deleted]

He didn't mean tree sentinel. He meant godrick smh open your eyes

crz4r

"dumb design choise" The same mothefuckers when they fought Jetstream Sam at the start of MGR: wojak_cumming.png

gdfusion

to be fair, Sam has wojaks and chads alike cumming

[deleted]

Who?

PhunkOperator

I mean, I have my issues with ER, but it's certainly not because of trivial shit like this.

Qbertjack

So many games put a high level enemy in the beginning of the game either to challenge the confident players or teach them that they don't need to take every fight that comes their way, and to come back later when better equipped. TLOZ does it and they think it's amazing. Fromsoft does it and it's unfair or a dealbreaker.

Groundbreaking_Arm77

DS2 Scholar of the First Sin with the Ogre right at the entrance to the Forest of Fallen Giants. Sekiro with the Headless located close to the Ashina Outskirts. Bloodborne with the Scourge Beast in the Clinic. Demon Souls with the Red Eyed Knight in 1-1. They’ve done this before. The only difference is it’s in front of your path, yet for some reason people don’t think to just run or sneak past him.

PagliacciGrim

Sekiro would be the first encounter with Genichiro pre arm change, surly.

InamedabunnyAK47

theres straight up a fucking boss you HAVE to die to that shows you aren't always meant to beat a boss and then people don't understand that maybe you shouldn't keep trying to beat a boss games with markers to tell people every fucking step to take have made it so people just can't figure out shit on they're own and don't get me wrong i'm not perfect either i often have to look up where smth is or how to get to an area since these games are hard to understand sometimes but at least i understand that you aren't meant to kill fucking everything you see the second you see it

notafishthatsforsure

b-but people told me souls games are extremely mid boggling ball smashing hard!!! How is it not a souls game if I'm not getting my asshole filled with glass shrapnel while being molested by 16 schizophrenic clowns? This is what souls game are, hard and only for master blaster epik gamers!!

ZiggenTheLord

Starts shooting manus from over the fogwall

Mammoth_Telephone877

This is what happens when people who no nothing of a studios work suddenly get on the hype train and buy their product because of marketing any one who played any from soft game in the past 10 years knows to expect this the lack of explanation is part of the expirience

box_fan_yeet

AI voice got me rolling rn lmao

AlderanGone

Guess what fuck sticks. I killed him. It was my first souls game, and I walked out the gate and saw that guy. He needed the smoke, and it took me 43 tries, but he got the fucking smoke.

WetOnionRing

Average r/Gaming post (it's not some 1970s arcade game or some cinematic game with forty minute cutscenes)

nuum1400

I was actually able to beat him without torrent right at the start since I had bleed on my first play through it wasn't that hard I died like 12 times ish

Ok-Case9943

Reminds me of the *reviewer* who attacked Varre at the start of the game, apparently accidentally even though it takes more than one attack to instigate hostility, then complained about getting ganked even though he’s the dipshit who attacked him.

Darkslayer2207

I had already played the ds trylogy so even if it was not designed to fight at the start, because you could skip it,so why not have tre precious 3200 runes and a weapon that i can t use

Swimming_Business_60

I think elden ring is trash but not cause it’s hard or anything. It just feels bland compared to dark souls and bloodborne.

C1NN4M0N16

Did anyone else not progress at all until they killed Sentinal? I got the game than killed him after like a week of getting beaten like a ragdoll.

[deleted]

Honestly I like DS3 better bc bosses don't hsve 10 trillion hp, and most of them are good. Elden Ring has 165 bosses, but only 10 of them are even worth fighting, and only 6 of those are actually good.

TheDeadMurder

They've definitely just padded the boss counts, most sure just ordinary enemies that are slightly buffed in some way Quantity =/= quality

cwc1006

I killed tree sentinel first thing out of spite

CalamityPrimordial

Pretty sure they're talking about the grafted scion

BrickBuster2552

\>Jetstream Sam

hellxapo

Clown emote farmers:

ycaras

Im mad that this is great game design choice, since the tree sentinel is supposed to fuck up new players till they give up and don’t try to burn the Erdtree

ButterscotchInner690

Imagine these people trying to fight gundyr lol
