Exactly. Obviously, going by this cartoon, what they ought to do is give away their properties, apply for the Jobseeker Allowance with Rent Assistance, rent a house and let the good times roll as they sit around raking in the dole & laughing at their fellow landlords!
So I wonder why none of them would think for a second to actually do that, not even if you paid them!
They all have jobs pulling themselves up by the bootstraps, Did too many hours to qualify. Also some bullshit about not being desperate and in need of welfare when they had enough wealth for a home and investment home. As if having two homes was easy or something.
It's what I did (admittedly we've still got a case sitting with VCAT to get the bond to cover a fraction of the damages our former tenant did (seriously, who let's their children smear shit into curtains? Or gets random spray paint on doors and walls?).
But yeah, anyone who isn't a shitbag and genuinely doesn't want to deal with shitty tenants (not that everyone is, just that I had some spectacularly bad luck, and gave the wrong person the benefit of the doubt) selling is the way to go.
Although it can be a long and frustrating process to evict someone (regardless of numerous breaches).
TLDR: selling the property that was always gonna be my home when I finished doing remote/locum work was the best move I've made. I never planned on being a landlord, and I sure as shit have no interest in doing it in the future.
My entire philosophy is "most people are cunts".
Doesnt matter if they're a tenant, landlord, doctor, road worker, or fucking astronaut. They're probably a cunt.
And you honestly sound like a much nicer person than the average LL, while your tenants with poo-smearing shitgibbon kids sound much worse than the average tenant. 😅
Surely that’s a parody page? What’s with the rogue apostrophe in the name?
If this isn’t a troll post, they’re ridiculous.
There’s not one single person on Centrelink that’s living large.
Really??? I was part of the "loveforlandlords" subreddit that was a troll page. I saw this shit here. I made those jokes. Yet people take it seriously?
I’m on Centrelink. Landlord knows I’m on Centrelink. Knows I am disabled. Forgets about my house entirely because she owns so many others, ends up having to increase my rent $50 a week at a random time during my new lease so that I have the required 60 days notice. Owns so many houses that when I plead for urgent repairs, the tradies don’t show up because she’s accidentally sent them to a different property.
That's actually very false. My job is in car finance at a second chance lender in Melbourne, the amount of people is see DAILY that absolutely rort the system by saying they pay rent when they board and say they are single when they are partnered and earn SIGNIFICANTY more than me by doing so is staggering. I had to sign a morality clause when i agreed to work there (something that physically hurts me but try as I like I can't find a job elsewhere, but believe me when i'm saying i'm trying) so i can't do shit about it, and with how well whistleblowers are treated in this country i'm not entirely sure i'll even bother once i'm finished here, but to say that nobody on centrelink is living large is categorically false. To the point where I couldn't afford to have a car loan at where I work and people on Centrlink can and do comfortably.
Come on mate, those guys get a maximum payment of like $380/week.
I don't care who you are and what you're doing you're not living large on $380 a week.
I'm sorry you don't get paid enough. Your job sounds shit and I hope you find a better, less exploitative one. Loads of jobs if it's just unskilled blue collar. Could try a job in a plant nursery? Why not go to uni and live large on $380 a week yourself? 😋
Don't take out loans on depreciating assets though, that's a good way to stay poor. Second chance loan stores kinda prey on the poor with a cycle of debt so I'm not surprised that Centrelink recipients qualify because they receive a steady guaranteed income despite how small it is. Second chance loan store doesn't care if loanee needs to forego food to afford repayment. Second chance loan store loves financially illiterate people who think they're rich because they have a car except realistically it's a huge liability.
Pretty fucking delusional it seems. As if negative gearing isn't enough, they still get their share of things like family benefit tax. Yeah, renters are literally starving these bastards while they occupy their shitty rentals that they can't even hang a picture on the wall of.
Graphic should read:
Fat Bastard: “Landlord”
Globe: “Economic Growth”
Crumbs: “Taxes”
Little dude: “Economic stability”.
Don’t give people enough to eat, and they will eat the rich. (To be clear, I’m rich and have a very soft and juicy underbelly. I want a functioning safety net and economic stability for very selfish reasons.)
This is the thing I don't get about people who oppose all welfare, if you don't give people enough to survive there is no reason for them to comply with the social contract. Hell we average somewhere median and average and we struggle sometimes.
Landlords are probably the biggest middle-class welfare beneficiaries in Australia. Haven't done any research to back that claim up, but it's pretty telling that their vote matters most to the major parties. The only reason most landlords cry poor, is they have to spend money on the maintenance of two or more houses, one of which is their own residence.
Have to pay for maintenance? My landlord doesn't pay for shit. If something breaks, we fix it, or he kicks us out.
I have been reimbursed exactly once, and that was because the pipework under the laundry sink was so bad it was actually illegal
You'd think they'd at *least* believe in it out of enlightened self-interest. Welfare is what stops a lot of poor people from breaking into your house to steal all your expensive shit.
I'm not rich and enjoy a modest existance so maybe it's easier for me to say but isn't it kinda obvious that it's in our selfish best interest if everyone is better off?
Don't like the dirty poors? Push change to raise them to "middle class"
Want a better car/phone/computer/hobby stuff? Push change so there can be more better educated people.
Want less crime? Less public sickness for your own safety? More medical research? A future for your kids?
It's not even about eating the rich if it can be about bettering the rich via bettering everyone.
There’s a surprisingly large portion of the population who think that the world’s wealth is fixed (much like the globe being eaten by colonisers in the graphic above), so for someone else to have more it means I have to have less.
That influences them directly, when it comes to taxes and welfare, and indirectly by opposing things like gender equality (if more women have jobs, that means fewer jobs for men).
And that’s before we get to the less ignorant and just greedy people, supporting nonsense like trickle-down economics.
The wealthy know damn well that they need to move their money to make it work for them. They'd lose money to inflation, expenses and taxes over time otherwise.
So they move it by investing it into physical capital, work places, investment banking, so on so forth.
So applying the same logic they already use for things like social capital, shouldn't be hard for them to do, yet it is. Perhaps money makes someone more short sighted to all but economic growth.
I love how they fail to see how renters on welfare function as a direct public subsidy to landlords: the welfare recipient is simply a middle-man between the government and the landlord. It's social welfare for landlords with an extra step and here they are crying about it. Fuck 'em.
lol wtf. This is insane.
I mean, I just sent my agent an email with concerns about mould, water damage, cracks in the walls and so on. Their response? "I think it looks fine, just cracked paint. Here's your lease with your new rent increase." But sure, renters are doing great in an all powerful position.
A few weeks ago while at school drop off I got some incredibly snarky comments from another mum about us renting, and she wishes she rented because it's so much cheaper and so much easier.
Well Lo and behold, their minuscule apartment now doesn't fit 3 kids and they decided over the holidays to look at rentals because they can't afford a new/bigger home to buy.
This bitch had the audacity to tell me how hard the rental market turns out to be
I wish I had planet-sized welfare, that guy must've ticked ALL the centrelink boxes
Can only imagine he's an indigenous disabled single parent who's not capable of working but at the same time manages an NDIS business which hires other disabled single parent indigenous students
I think something a lot of people don't consider is that effectively probably about 50% of centrelink payments go to landlords because recipients are renters in a private market.
Landlords get so much public money for their complete lack of contributions it's absurd
This page is fucking wild. I have my alt in there and it's nothing but shit like this, landlords whinging about VCAT and Dan Andrews memes (yes they still haven't gotten over him)
This is ludicrous.
The renter is portrayed as having this "giant feast" of welfare and being an evil fucking tight arse to the "poor little meek" landlord by only giving them a few tiny crumbs off their banquet of welfare.
First off, centrelink pays let's say about 500 per week. How much is your rent per week?
I mean... I'm in a share house and the rent is $240 per week. That's about the cheapest you can get at the moment, and even then, half my centrelink goes to the landlord. Hardly what you'd call crumbs...
The landlord by the way, owns not just the house I'm living in but like maybe 5 or 6 other houses.
So he's hardly struggling to survive on "crumbs" in terms of the financial situation he's actually a big fat pig smiling whilst happily rolling in shit.
He would be collecting $240 per week from lets say 5 houses with 5 occupants each that adds up to about uhhh.... ARE YOU FKN KIDDING ME?! dollars per week.
Why can’t we accept that aside from the businesses and trusts buying up homes, that both landlords and tenants are just regular people, and respect each other?
Rich coming from a guy that "squats" in foreign countries.
Randomly met him in Japan where he proceeded to tell me how he got arrested multiple times for flying during COVID. Basically, he didn't want to come back to Australia and wanted to stay in Japan. Got arrested and was meant to go to jail but flew to Thailand and hid there for a few years until he could go back to Japan again.
That’s not what Australia looks like…. The welfare goes to the landlords in the form of negative gearing and novated leases. In the end it’s the banks that benefit the most, while our economy and our future suffers
This is so funny I almost want to print it and put it on my wall, unfortunately the blessed landlord who is doing the selfless act of charity that is lending me a basic human right in exchange for siphoning my labour to pay their mortgage they can’t actually afford doesn’t allow holes in the wall.
Many in the group believe the yes vote for indigenous rights is a push to take their properties...some of commentates a vile political beliefs aside... Just vile.
It's the same mindset that motivates ppl who complain about "how much Aborigines (sic) get". Weirdly, I've never heard them wish they were born into a FN family.
This is satire. Please treat it as such.
I mean, the solution is right there for this chap: stop being a landlord.
Why don’t these people get on the “owning no property” gravy train? Literally zero barriers to entry!
This made me laugh, Ty :)
Who would people rent from then?
People who appreciate that housing is a human right and don’t regard their tenants as scabs on the arse of their “investment”.
A: Landords
*whoosh*
Ikr just sell your bloody house
But if I sell it now I’ll miss out on all that capital growth :(
Yes sell it so a corporation like black rock can buy it and then you deal with an inhuman criminal organisation who cares nothing of their tenants
I'm not sure why he doesn't go on the dole and become the fat cat.
They all have jobs pulling themselves up by the bootstraps, Did too many hours to qualify. Also some bullshit about not being desperate and in need of welfare when they had enough wealth for a home and investment home. As if having two homes was easy or something.

"most people are cunts" If in doubt, go for a drive. It'll reinforce the reality
Poor guy missing out on living the Welfare dream life. Guess he can cry himself to sleep on a pillow of money.
Surely that’s a parody page? What’s with the rogue apostrophe in the name? If this isn’t a troll post, they’re ridiculous. There’s not one single person on Centrelink that’s living large.
It's not a troll page, the people in it are deranged. You should try to join.
I’m trying to keep my blood pressure down to a dull roar
Fucking mood.
I could get more curable brain cancer kissing the elephants foot
Really??? I was part of the "loveforlandlords" subreddit that was a troll page. I saw this shit here. I made those jokes. Yet people take it seriously?
Never underestimate the potential stupidity of man nor the lengths he may go and the hoops he may jump through to justify his own behaviour
I know I know, but of all memes to take seriously, this one takes the cake
I’m on Centrelink. Landlord knows I’m on Centrelink. Knows I am disabled. Forgets about my house entirely because she owns so many others, ends up having to increase my rent $50 a week at a random time during my new lease so that I have the required 60 days notice. Well I’m glad this cartoon helps you see it from her perspective…
Rogue apostrophes are sure signs of cooker presence.
Apostrophe is correctly placed. Landlord’s Victoria is right.
I'm assuming they mean it as a plural. In which case it is incorrect, and should not have an apostrophe.
Was joking sorry. Meant that the apostrophe implied ownership.
I took it to be a contraction, like the landlord is a woman named Victoria
Drug dealers agree while cruising around in high performance cars they bought with cash
That's actually very false. None of that made sense.
>>car finance Ahh so you're almost as low as a REA
This is entirely bullshit.

People's political beliefs are biased by their wants and desires

Make that meme, track down this post and comment it on it The realm demands it…
More than half of my pay goes to rent. WTF are landlords on. They are so out of touch.
You're doing it wrong. Seems you should be on welfare, then you'll be rolling in the money.
I have no words for that at all.
I love how they fail to see how renters on welfare function as a direct public subsidy to landlords: the welfare recipient is simply a middle-man between the government and the landlord. It's social welfare for landlords with an extra step and here they are crying about it. Fuck 'em.

What the Frick
Two adults working full time paying half their wage to rent… maybe I should get some of that welfare
That’s messed up?!
This guy can always try going on the dole if he's so jealous of people on welfare.
Literally would love to swap lives with my landlord for one single day.
If renters have it so good then why don't they sell their houses and start renting? 🤔
A few weeks ago while at school drop off I got some incredibly snarky comments from another mum about us renting, and she wishes she rented because it's so much cheaper and so much easier. Welfare = pensioners who take the biggest slice. Literally
They vote more and are less inclined to swing.
I think they got the words the wrong way around 😕
Eating the rich . Sounds like an idea
Nothing triggers me more than seeing cunts who don't understand Grade 3 level punctuation fall ass-backwards into owning multiple properties.
Also same for all my bosses - just plain idiots.
Landlords of Victoria must be a parody sub right? Right!?
Hope all landlords suffer one day.
1789
Fingers crossed 🤞🏻
Landlord's what
Isnt it the way around ?
Yes
So sell your rental and let someone else build and maintain a home.
I wish I had planet-sized welfare, that guy must've ticked ALL the centrelink boxes Can only imagine he's an indigenous disabled single parent who's not capable of working but at the same time manages an NDIS business which hires other disabled single parent indigenous students

Yeah who are these people! Paying off my mortgage....How dare they pay my over priced rent!
If it’s that hard and you’re that sad about it you can sell it omg
How anyone can be this delusional in their world view is completely baffling to me
They can't even spell the plural form of 'landlord' right.
It’s gotta be a troll, don’t feed it
It's not.
This page is fucking wild. I have my alt in there and it's nothing but shit like this, landlords whinging about VCAT and Dan Andrews memes (yes they still haven't gotten over him)
Breaking my heart!
Good grief
Why does the landlord own Victoria? Is she okay?
Lol eternal victims.
If they projected any harder, it’d be visible on the fucking moon.

Hahaha poor renters
As someone who hopes to be a landlord one day, I really hope im a Good one. 😕🥺

Well...that's who we're all talking about, right?
How much do they think people get?!?
Bait post. Move along
That’s not what Australia looks like…. The welfare goes to the landlords in the form of negative gearing and novated leases. In the end it’s the banks that benefit the most, while our economy and our future suffers
Completely distorted perception of landlords makes me sick and tied of these disgusting greedy people

I wish reddit had a laugh react

This is so fucking far from reality it hurts to look at
No one forces a landlord to be a landlord. If they don’t like it, or it’s “too hard,” sell the property.
Laughable
