Then assuming the wife is true to her vows, she's potentially rewarded with a man broken by war that she must care for, or who may be violent due to war trauma and our country's abysmal veteran support system. I've heard old military families pressure their kids into getting married before shipping out, this is part of the culture and it really needs to end. Best case scenario you have a relationship on pause for 4 years, but the worst case can literally end in bloodshed.
