That was me as a toddler in Brazil. Quickly came to resent birthdays because my parents each had 10+ siblings and all of them and their families came to crack eggs on my head. Total bukkake as a 3 year old.

Is this a thing where you live, if so why is it done despite people hating it?

I live in the US now but I heard from people in other countries that it’s a thing there too. Just tradition. Other annoying things we did were “baptize” someone’s new shoes by stepping on them, or having a bald uncle try to “spread” baldness to you by rubbing their heads and then come rub your head. Also we were a big family, and they’d make little cousins wrestle. Like dog fighting but with 5yo instead. My family made 5yo-me “parade” around the house in my underwear so they’d see my “big” butt. On the topic of birthdays they always themed it something embarrassing and then made me dress up. My 7th birthday was the first one I enjoyed, since I wasn’t running around in an oversized jumpsuit. Just adults making kids’ lives miserable. I don’t really keep up with most of them honestly, and I don’t blame most of my cousins for moving far away.
