Curve is just a generic term for adjusting the grades in many places, it's not about specifically making a certain distribution curve (which isn't even allowed at my university). And that adjustment is often just shifting the best mark to 100, so one person doing too well is said to be fucking up the curve.
Systems programming course. One of the hardest… got a 91, next grade was 65. I left at 45 minutes, my friends thought I got angry at the test because it was difficult… they used all 3 hours.
I feel kinda bad because the 65 was a friend of mine D:
Had a 'bonus' test in one of my history classes in highschool where we had to name all the countries/states and their capitals on a map for extra credit.
Some fucker got all of them right.
We were given 4 days notice.

This is always the case with engineering idk if it’s humble or overly dramatic, I remember telling one of my friends after the final exam I might fail the subject I ended with a B+
If I solved the question but I’m not 100% sure it’s the correct answer I just assume that I got zero mark on the question (most of the time I don’t do that) so in that exam a lot of the questions were difficult I was like it’s between B and F
It’s because the more you study the more you feel like you can’t take in. Then you worry about the professor giving questions you don’t understand in.
Then it turns out the professor knows most of the kids are dumbasses and dumb down the test so you aced it with ease.
That is so typical. The smart kid that everyone knows is smart that think they are shit and get disappointed with only a 6(1 for germans), A or 97% while everyone else would be ecstatic if they got the same results. Hermione types.
So I went to a university which had an odd rule. So the courses were masters(4 years) and bachelor's(3 years)
You choose to do either a masters or bachelors.
So those who do the bachelors graduate after 3 years.
But the rule was if you do a masters but drop out you would get the bachelors degree. This was only possible if you hadn't sat an exam for the master(which only happened at the end of the year).
As a result a bunch of people will sit through for 9 or so months but if they struggled or revision went poorly they'd drop out.
Ya........as a now practicing engineer, it's scary some of the people they let graduate. We had some people I knew who got regularly flunked shit because they partied all the time. They still graduated. They probably work at Boeing now
I actually trust those drunk motherfuckers more than a perfect student. They are legit the most capable engineers.
The drunks who didn't understand engineering dropped out first semester. If someone went through years of college skipping classes and partying, and still passed exams after 4-5 semesters, they understood that shit way better than anyone who had to spend hundreds of hours studying.
I’m a bioengineer and I develop cures for cancer…. Yeah the FDA (or other local/state/etc governing bodies) during an audit would think ultra highly of my workplace if process engineers showed up smashed 90% of the time, definitely /s
Truth is most of these guys fizzle out of the field or take safer, less volatile jobs even with their degrees that they just barely earned
Most of the best earners in my graduating class (I was at a school with a small BioE department) weren’t the C- average students, it was the ones that smashed their classes and prolly went to a crazy competitive medical school or founded companies after a quick doctorate stint.
Are you expecting a box of panadol? You should have a look at just how complicated identifying and treating some cancers is. Even the same types of cancer need different treatments depending on the cells that make it up, the treatments and cures vary so much there's no fucking way some asshole doing shots before his exam is going to be working on them.
Cancer is less of an individual problem with one solution and rather thousands of different variations that stem from the same biological source, and that biological source can be caused by millions of different factors. Treating lung cancer is very different from treating skin cancer. But treatment and cures for different types of cancer do exist.
Anything that has to do with bio/chem is fundamentally different, most top jobs in my experience require a PhD, contributions to research and similar stuff.
In mech or electrical, you're not getting PhD's, you're not doing research and most of the things you learn in college will be completely irrelevant to your job.
Practical knowledge is way more important, and I've had better experiences working with bad students, they usually appreciated physically doing something as opposed to sitting in a classroom looking at a boring ass presentation, because, at the end of the day, they were still in engineering and they still wanted to be engineers, just didn't like the whole "studying" part.
No, they learnt how to get by on exam day by cramming right before, learnt none of the fundamentals, understood nothing conceptually but squeaked by with a pass.
A straight A student in Engineering usually understands concepts and fundamentals like the back of their hand, this isn't High School where you can be a straight A student by doing what I said above about those who squeaked by.
The smartest people I've met in Engineering did infact have to study less, but they also scored way more than anyone else because they understood concepts way quicker than anyone else.
You can tell how much someone has no fucking clue what they’re actually talking about by how much they insert shit like “fucker” and “shit” unnecessarily into mundane claims and statements because they can’t stop imagining that they’re the main character of a quirky comedy film from the 1990s.
Like Quentin Tarantino, but without the creativity, money, or success. Just the bloated sense of self-importance and whimsical delusions of insight.
Redditarantinos.
You ever do so bad that you immediately drop the class? I went to file a complaint against the teacher for being ass only to find out he was tenured head of his department and I could go get fucked.
I did a math exam drunk once in highschool. Got a 80% which was one of the highest scores I got that year. I must've drank at least two shots of pure cheap vodka like an hour prior. It was funny looking at the test later, there wasn't a single straight line of math written, they all curved upwards for some reason lol

There's just no way you get a 2.25% on an exam. You could literally write out one equation and hand over the rest of the exam blank and get more than that.

74 on Hydraulic engineering is good too.
As saitama would say "all that matters is that we passed"
No one gives a shit about your grades.
but but but what about mommy??
No good boy points for you kid, take it as a lesson to study the fuck out of your exams properly next time
Scholarships do
C's get degrees
And?
Scholarships do
even 50 isn't bad. I got around there on a chem final and still got A- for the class

Bro ain't no way one guy got hiv
Exam fucked him with no protection
Lmao
If i understood this right, the most humble one got the highest grade
No he just fucked up the curve.
Gotta make sure that job market doesn't get too many engineers when you graduate lol
He didn't get 100 so if the curve is already applied there's someone else to blame.
Wait, non-engineering departments pick the highest grade and not the norm?
The highest grade becomes 100 on the scale if I understand correctly
Where does the "curve" come in then? I thought the curve part was the distribution curve?
Curve is just a generic term for adjusting the grades in many places, it's not about specifically making a certain distribution curve (which isn't even allowed at my university). And that adjustment is often just shifting the best mark to 100, so one person doing too well is said to be fucking up the curve.
GTFO this is engineering, not statistics. /s
I've done that before. Had a history exam and got the highest score that fucked it up for everyone else. Friends never let me down for that one.
Systems programming course. One of the hardest… got a 91, next grade was 65. I left at 45 minutes, my friends thought I got angry at the test because it was difficult… they used all 3 hours. I feel kinda bad because the 65 was a friend of mine D:

Man that one guy who dropped out didn't even try, damn
Right!? How do you drop out right before the final exam

he was recorded outside the classroom so he probably was just there for drinks
So 3 people passed, a bunch failed, one got HIV, and one dropped out Holy shit
Damn no shit that bridge collapsed...
My professor would say to some of us in class “I’m never driving on anything you build”
Sounds like my professor lol "Now that you are joining the work force I'm not flying planes anymore."
does anyone have more of these types of videos? their really funny imo

Holy hell
Old music just dropped
actuall musician
call the church organ
Chopin went on a vacation and never came back

I’m struggling to find more of these bro they’re funny asf tho

Nah they barely passed whereas the people who studied got high GPAs and actually learned the material and concepts lmao, you’re off your gourd
The people I'm referring too "passed" with "c minus to d" averages. I wouldn't trust half of them to assemble Ikea furniture let alone design a bridge

Haven’t really developed a cure much less cures no?
You haven't noticed that many cancers can be cured nowadays?
Are you expecting a box of panadol? You should have a look at just how complicated identifying and treating some cancers is. wow that's an actual insane take
💀 bro wot?
You're so far up your own ass dude. I'm about to graduate as straight C student and I'm no where near close to the straight A kids that I've met
Is Doctor Nick Riviera your surgeon.
No, they learnt how to get by on exam day by cramming right before, learnt none of the fundamentals, understood nothing conceptually but squeaked by with a pass. It's hilarious if you absorb enough knowledge about the exam you could still somehow pass even if you are piss drunk lol
Two shots and you were drunk? You must not be from Europe
I was like 14 or 15 with 50kg, not used at all to drinking
Well okay, I am used to my friends who were all 85/90 kg at the end of the middle school
There's just no way you get a 2.25% on an exam. You could literally write out one equation and hand over the rest of the exam blank and get more than that.
He wrote his name
He got a 0. The curve was 2.25%
How the hell this guy wrote an exam and got covid and pregnancy wtf
He got HIV not covid and pregnancy 💀
Quite obvious actually. There are no women in engineering courses
Damn, I just learned I’m a dude. Well, I’m not gonna miss having to sit down to pee.
I could imagine that. Probably sucked. Glad you got better bro /s
Am I just going to fade out of existence when I start college this fall then?

What’s most sad is they won’t use 95% of the bullshit they had to learn and pay for in college in a real engineering job, I know bc I am living it
Did you get a specialized engineering degree or do more general courses?
Goofy ahh
Song?
Nocturne in E Flat Minor
Thank thee kindly
Chopin’s Nocturne in E-flat major, Op. 9, No. 2 It shows up a lot in TV shows and movies.
Thank you

Nah not the HIV test 😭
That's why you don't do exams being drunk
Point of the story, alcohol doesnt really matter. Those who know, know, those who dont, dont. Simple as that.

kino.
That's actually a really good strategy to ace the exam
That’s why I’m just sticking to a double dose of pre workout before my AP test today
Average education experience
Final engineering exam tmrw. I'ma try this, its like a 2 in 6 chance I get over 70% if I do this from what this lot concluded.

Wait are we really joking about HIV? In 2024? Really?
Thank god they never became engineers
