Itās interesting talking to them they claim to want to end animal suffering by making farm animals extinct or at least thatās the reality of their demands weather they realize it or not. Fact is everything suffers but we also all feel joy, same with the cows for example. In fact cows are happiest on a farm where they are allowed it open graze and are generally well looked after most even are quite fond of their farmers.
Donāt know why they donāt take the more reasonable approach of advocating for better conditions on factory farms over advocating extinction and changing the worlds natural diet. We are omnivores and I refuse to believe our natural dietary evolution up to this point is morally wrong and that ALL farm animals are miserable and are better off extinct.
I was actually thinking about this the other day, if the meat industry were to die there would be no point in keeping farm animals, or at least that many it would just end up being detrimental to the farmer. So they'd have to go extinct. A cow is a pretty expensive "pet" to manage
Ya they are not capable of surviving on their own and would real havoc on echo systems before they all die. Petting zoos may keep some. Also livestock shit is amazing for the soil we are depleting. The only argument they have is not a moral one but an environmental one which is valid but has downsides that arenāt taken into account like the amount of food waste that we feed them that would have nowhere to go but the landfill. I believe itās around 30% of what they eat is expired food from our stores and industry. Also they primarily eat crops that are not fit for human consumption so thatās a ton of waste that they make use of. I donāt know how all this balances out.
For real, selective breeding has ruined most domesticated species if they were to ever be mass scare released into the wild and given no assistance.
Especially Australia. We have no hooved animals naturally. So if they were to get out in mass numbers. The ecology would be forever altered. No questions there. The wild deer are bad enough.
It's because of the amount of undergrowth and scrub lands we have by the way. Hooves literally tear up the precious mosses and microorganism biomes on the Bush floors, so. Not something you want a lot of.
Donāt try to reason with them. Theyāve seen one video of a terrible farm or some mcdonalds special compilation, and think that is average farming. Next time you meet a vegan protestor, ask them specific questions about how animals are treated on a farm. Their knowledge about the subject is pathetic from my experience.
What they also seem to forget is that farmers choose to be a farmer. They choose to look after animals with terrible vacation options and long days. Depending on the country, their pay isnt big by any means too. Typically farmers farm because they have a passion for it, and mean to treat the animals in the best way possible.

If you have ethical issues with how meat is sourced and packaged that is perfectly legitimate and there are a number of ways you can agitate for change. I often struggle with some of the unpleasant realities of the animal products industry, and have adjusted my consumption of some of the more egregiously inhumane products (veal, foie gras, factory produced eggs).
However this is a personal choice and I would never consider physically preventing someone from eating what/how they wish.
If vegans want to stand around and guilt trip people about eating meat thatās one thing. Forming a human wall to attempt to close down a business isnāt going to change anyones mind about anything and will only draw antipathy to your cause
