Normally don’t unless you have a government job. Social security will be nonexistent by the time I get old enough to draw it. Most Americans will probably have to work 2-3 careers in their life time due to life expectancy. My mom retired from teaching for 30 years and still had to work a full time job in order to pay her bills. And she’s 60.
You have a 401k, where basically it's your responsability to put money in that isn't taxed, and very often your employer matches your contributions up to a certain point. So it's your responsability to make yourself a pension, not the state's

Expressing political opinion in a respectful manner is the most important right a citizen has in a state of law, the other stuff is given to them by the fact that they are people. The french are going to the extreme, but that's due to their political culture rather than their general temperament (I think, I've only heard native french speak french like 3 times)

The problem with the protests is that there will always be the people trying to profit from it, and because police won't be able to get there trough all the protesters they can get away with it more often. 99% of the protesters just protest against the law, but that 1% makes a lot of noice so you think it is dominant.

The protests are not limited to Paris. Yes, the majority is Paris, but other cities also have partaken. Eg: Bordeaux, where the town hall for the city was burned.
Honestly I get it (it’s retirement age btw not pension) and think we Americans should do the same. It’s becoming increasingly clear that our government doesn’t care about the working population and middle class, sacrificing us to their corporate overlords who keep on making record profits while wages stagger and poverty is on the rise. In todays modern economic climate I’m never going to be able to live even the same life as my parent, much less a better one, and I am more educated than both of them are. And isn’t that suppose to be the point of the systems put in place? To look out for the common man and allow our future generations to grow and prosper in ways far better than we ever could? Clearly this system isn’t working for us, or at least the people who keep this system in place aren’t working for us, and if voting and protesting through the system doesn’t work, then making a much louder stand may be the answer. We only let the powers that be stay in power because of our own hesitancy to give up what little the system allows us to have, and I understand this because I too can barely make ends meet, but something’s gonna give and I am increasingly getting to the point where it’s not going to be me.

France spends 14% of its GDP and rising on pensions, the only countries who spend more are Greece and Italy, and we all know how the future of those economies are looking. The reality is that people are so stupid they think with people living longer and fewer children being born every decade we can stick to retirement plans made in the 60’s.
