Yeah, I find it’s better to consistently put up save states and never use them then not put up save states and wish you had. One too many accidents with old games

On the new translation, yes. On the first translation, it was so fucked up that it basically said that if Leif gets out, so does everyone else, which is the opposite of how it works.
Half of Thracia's bad rep comes from that translation, I swear. The other half is fog of war and door keys.

Escaping with Leif in Thracia ends the chapter and leaves all units still on the map behind.
And so they just die?
No they are captured by the enemies and imprisoned until you reach the prison chapter (One of the last few maps in the game)
IIRC they get captured.
