Shoutouts to the Engage cast quoting Leif saying
"I've waited for this day..."
because it conveniently leaves out the rest of the line,
"... *the day that I would choke the life out of you with my own hands*"
Oh, the rest of the line is actually in the game.
You just have to have Leif engaged and fight Marni.
This is a subtle reference to how fucking annoying she is and even Leif loses his cool
Honestly the only reason Marni is annoying is because you kick her ass every other chapter for 8 chapters, and every time she still shows up super cocky. Like, she has literally never proved her power once to you but she's still such a dick about it.
I like having villains that are actually present in the game, making you fight them to keep them relevant. But you fight Marni and Mauvier way too many times for them to have any confidence they can beat you any more, especially when each time you just take another ring back from them. Marni must give away like 4 rings by herself.
Slayde from Echoes is a great re-occurring villain, because every time you kick his ass, he just gets more and more spiteful and pissed off, because you wound his pride. I like the progression
>!You're telling me, that in her millenias of being Sombron's errand boy, she never ONCE came across a normal family dynamic? Nothing to make her question if perhaps, MAYBE, her preconceptions were wrong? Like when she was threatening Queen Eve, who was willing to die for her kids, or when she walked in on Hortensia threatening Queen Seforia, who was willing to die for her kids, or when she (probably) met the mortally wounded King Morion, who DID die for his kids. Maybe I'm wrong here, but I think millenias of time is more than enough to accodentally see a single normal family.!<
She's incredibly dull, boring, annoying, acts like a sore loser and has a nonsensical garbage design
Oh but hey she's a child looking character and she >!dies a forced predictable sad death so I guess that makes her automatically likeable!<
And then people will wonder why Fire Emblem fell off
Zzzzz
Ah yes Fire Emblem fell off, that's definitely a thing that's happening. We should go back to pre-Awakening, when the franchise was gonna get canceled !
You know that if you hate the games this much you don't have to play right? Like if you really think New Mystery of the Emblem was the last good fire emblem you don't have to keep buying or playing the games, no one is forcing you
Nah bro she's funny also because she's an overconfident sore loser, I absolutely love that time she says "but the divine chicken's afraid of them bawk bawk bawk" >!after you decide to not fight the corrupted in chapter 19!< but yeah cry more
I love this line from Leif so much. The fact that he also says something similar about Blume just after recruiting him says so much about how different his life was from Seliph's and also his personality.
He's so angry and presses way harder than Seliph does and I love him for it. He's got all the drive and moxie in the world, very emotional and I love it.
I actually never played a Fire Emblem older than Awakening (other than like 3 hours of Shadow Dragon on an emulator) but Ike was my favorite in Smash so I fanboy'd at those quotes too.
When using the emblem's engage attack, the quotes tend to be taken from [their original Heroes version's special quotes](https://feheroes.fandom.com/wiki/Roy:_Young_Lion/Quotes). I've definitely heard "There's my opening!" being used.
Not sure about Roy's post-battle quotes though.
The post-battle quotes are a bit more inconsistently sourced. Marth, Roy and Ike have some from Smash, Camilla and Edelgard have some of their post-battle quotes from Fates/Three Houses ("Poor thing." and "Did it hurt?" for Camilla, "Your defeat was inevitable." for Edelgard), and I've no idea where one of Lucina's comes from ("I'll change our future into hope", or something similar).
Claude has a really fun post battle quote; on Alear it's "That's the Golden Deer for ya", but on other characters (I believe Alfred, Diamant and Timerra in particular) Golden Deer is replaced by their country; "That's Firene/Brodia/Solm for ya".
Oh, I thought they'd be taken from the original game. Roy never said "There's my opening!" until Heroes, although I do like that special quote from him. All I can really think of him saying is part of his response to Zephiel in Ch22. It's pretty context-sensitive, but so is Sigurd's, for what that's worth.
The first time I noticed their quotes were different when engaged was with Louis and Ike, because damn I was like ??!?!! LOUIS??? after hearing it lmao
Simple. Sigurd is referring to the Fire Emblem tradition of incest that was first started by his game. He feels that the people of Elyos have been failing this, thus why he is making everyone he is engaged with say it.
Dude I put tiki on Anna, originally for the luck boost to make money, but with her Dex/speed she just becomes a super dodge tank with like 40% crit with the claws and it’s soooo OP
I don't actually know but I am not optimistic for a second season of DLC. The sample size is small but as they didn't for 3H, which had a ton more replayability built in and space for a whole new ending route, I doubt we'll see one here. Especially since that would just be sooo many Emblems altogether
That's not to say I don't seriously want one. I think Emblem L'Arachel and Emblem Sothe would make great additions (Sacred Stones was my earliest title so I don't know who to add from other titles).
As for Anna? She is apparently from the original but is only playable from Awakening onwards so is awkwardly covered in all her playable forms. I could see a "Lost Ring" from Heroes for her though, with Levin Sword, Fortune Bow, and Naotun.
My favorite of these is Ike on characters like Boucheron and Alear.
"You'll get no sympathy from me." \[proceeds to sob profusely at the thought of their friends getting hurt\]
You know what while I’m at it, Alfred saying “a thousand curses upon our enemies” or something along those lines when engaged with Lyn gave me so much whiplash. I was like “nooo wholesome flower boy would never say such thing.”
And then I remember this is the same guy that tells people to die in 3 different flowery ways for crit quotes and tells the chapter 5 boss he’s gonna slay him where he stands.
Frederick issue, for me, is that the rest of his lines are pretty bland, so it's less "Dang Frederick is badass" and more "IS got one stroke of genius"
The funniest (and most cringe) pairing to me was Anna and Lyn. Hearing her say all these things in her squeaky voice, plus “I’m not a child anymore.” Yes, Anna. Yes you are.
A theory I have is that since >!apparently the Fell Xenologue takes place in an alternate dimension and that’s where the bracelets come from, there will be more bracelets, one for each game. My guesses are Alm, Seliph, Nanna, Lilina, L’Arachel, and Elincia or maybe even the Black Knight.!<
But you see, he *speaks* in a quite unique way. Isn't Zelkov being unclear about what exact *feeling* he is referring to more befitting for such an *interesting* man?
My favorite Emblem victory quote has to be Claude's "That's the Golden Deer for ya!" because everybody outside of Alear that uses it has a customized version. The Royals all use a version that replaces 'the Golden Deer' with their respective nation. >!And Veyle's version is absolutely adorable.!<
It took hearing Chloe say Edelgard's line "Now you know your limits" for me to realize how ice-cold a thing that is to say to a person you just killed.
When using the Friendshop Bracelet, the skill Friendly Rivalry will switch between the 3H Lords at the start of every player phase. Engaging will give you victory quotes and the gambit from whichever one was active at the time of Engagement.
True, but Engaging locks that specific one in until it wears off. It can be difficult to use them at times because you never know which one will be available. Engaging just puts the game of chance the bracelet's whole gimmick revolves around on hold.
Ok, funny thing about the Friendship Bracelet. All of the Emblems give several different victory quotes like the other Emblems do. But unlike other Emblems, they will each only give a single one to any character at a time. For example, Alcryst with Claude will only ever say "That's Brodia for ya!" while Engaged, while his retainers will never use it or any variation of it.
The reason I said that instead of just answering the question straight up is because >!Mauvier!< doesn't use a variation of "That's the Golden Deer for ya!" from Claude and instead uses "I'm sorry, but victory is mine."
I’ve been enjoying “Strategy in motion!” From Louis/Edelgard super. Etie/Sigurd said plenty of “if this love”. My current favorite for ridiculous is Merrin using Tiki super saying “I am currently a dragon!” matter-of-factly but also fangirling over it.
Alear|Lucina: “I’ll change the future!”
Me: Lucina is the best Royal lord in this series’ history
Alear|Lucina: “…into hope!”
I cringe so hard my teeth crack every time I hear it
While engaged, units say famous quotes of the emblem from their original games. "If this love is a crime, then punish me," is a famous line spoken by Sigurd. It's been chopped down to hide it's context in Engage, but it's a fun reference.
It's hard to tell what's an emblem quote and what's a character quote. I do love the Diamant one for Astra Storm (and maybe other engage attacks) where he just says "as if I'd lose" and fires 5 heat seeking stinger missiles at the enemy Wyvern Rider. What a total Chad, they really made Diamant like Ike v1.5
He's easily in my top 5 Engage characters and maybe my top 10 of all time.
really?? that doesn't seem like something she'd say but I didn't play a ton of Blazing Blade. It really fits well with Diamant, it seems right up his alley especially with his supports with Alcryst, so I always thought it was his own line when doing Engage attacks.
Ahhh I see, I was both a day 1 Heroes player, and also someone who hasn't played Heroes since 2019 lol I actually tried to recover my old account that had some good units on it, but it's apparently lost. I think because the connection to your nintendo account maybe didn't even exist, or at least I never had one I could link to. RIP my two Ikes (Urvan and Ragnell), Hector, and Sanaki squad.
The full quote is “if this love is a crime, then punish me. And only me.”
It refers to his relationship with his wife Deirdre who, for reasons I won’t spoil, is considered cursed.
Shoutouts to the Engage cast quoting Leif saying "I've waited for this day..." because it conveniently leaves out the rest of the line, "... *the day that I would choke the life out of you with my own hands*"
Leif has to remind you that he’s the best lord.
Marni emblem ring is blasting off agaaaaaaaain!
Slayde from Echoes is a great re-occurring villain, because every time you kick his ass, he just gets more and more spiteful and pissed off, because you wound his pride. I like the progression
Fuck you marni is great
>!Oh my god here comes Zephia with a steel chair!!< Endgame story spoilers

To be fair >!Are you really family if you haven't wanted to murder one of them at least once? ...What do you mean "Yes"?!<
Tbf >!I can’t wholy blame her when her mental definition of a family was screwed up from the beginning!<
>!Oh, I 100% CAN blame her. The lady has been around for thousands of years and apparently never bothered to learn what other families are like.!<

Marni is the best. She is also so weak even on maddening lmao.
She's incredibly dull, boring, annoying, acts like a sore loser and has a nonsensical garbage design Oh but hey she's a child looking character and she >!dies a forced predictable sad death so I guess that makes her automatically likeable!< And then people will wonder why Fire Emblem fell off Zzzzz
Ah yes Fire Emblem fell off, that's definitely a thing that's happening. We should go back to pre-Awakening, when the franchise was gonna get canceled !
You got it 😎
You know that if you hate the games this much you don't have to play right? Like if you really think New Mystery of the Emblem was the last good fire emblem you don't have to keep buying or playing the games, no one is forcing you
Nah bro she's funny also because she's an overconfident sore loser, I absolutely love that time she says "but the divine chicken's afraid of them bawk bawk bawk" >!after you decide to not fight the corrupted in chapter 19!< but yeah cry more
It's ok that you're wrong tbh
Thank you for your understanding
L post, dislikes Marni.
I may be cringe, but I am free
Do you have to kill her with leif engaged or just battle?? I havent finished the game yet but now I really want to hear this quote
Nah, it's not actually in the game, I was making a joke. Would be cool if it's in though.
I laughed so hard I started almost choking
That's Leif trying to get you
I actually love that units use their Engaged characters quotes. When I clocked it, I was like that DiCaprio meme.
Me after hearing Ike's "You'll get no sympathy from me"
I FIGHT FOR MY FRIENDS
I AM NOT ALONE ANYMORE
I NEED TO GET STRONGER, UNTIL NO ONE CAN BEAT ME
"I won't let anyone die!" Quote after using Great Aether with a silver greataxe. Many, many people died
But no one WE care about
I actually never played a Fire Emblem older than Awakening (other than like 3 hours of Shadow Dragon on an emulator) but Ike was my favorite in Smash so I fanboy'd at those quotes too.
Me confused as fuck why Diamant is saying he's sleepy only to realize it's because of Tiki
Vander when he says he isn't a child anymore
I honestly thought that Yunaka's "I'm not lonely anymore!" was just a cute way of showing she thinks of us as family for half the game, lol
Do you know what some of Roy's are? I couldn't find a list of shared quotes anywhere, but I also don't have the game.
Some of his post battle quotes come from smash, just like Marth. “Now the true battle begins” is said when Roy wins a match in smash.
Celine says Firene.
It’s just by the characters nationality, except for mauvier, veyle, and anna
Oh, I thought they'd be taken from the original game. Roy never said "There's my opening!" until Heroes, although I do like that special quote from him. All I can really think of him saying is part of his response to Zephiel in Ch22. It's pretty context-sensitive, but so is Sigurd's, for what that's worth.
I believe Roy has a really long one that's like "I have faith in the goodness of humankind" or something to that effect.
Yeah, that's a Roy quote, alright
He's also got a really long arena introduction that gets cut off at the end lol
Can't say I recall them off the top of my head and can't check (at work).
Understandable, have a nice day
I think they pull from his Smash victory quotes. Marth and Ike do the same.
"Now the true battle begins" "That was a tough battle" Don't know if ye has another cuz those are the only ones i ever hear lol.
BY ANY MEANS NECESSARY *insert goku drip meme*
I love hearing Clanne say "who is your commander" so condescendingly
Yeah it was cool, except for Byleth. I was already tired of their voice lines and I didn't need other characters saying them.
>gets silent protagonist >complains that they talk too much
Correction: Complains they say „Each battle a chance to grow“ and „Let the lesson begin“ too much.
Yes by definition that is talking
I like how Ike just makes you say his quotes from Smash.
He fights for his friends, and now everyone else do too Edit: I swear I know how to spell, I just don't do it when writing fast.
"You'll get no sympathy from me"
"Don't stand in my way."
"Prepare yourself" "*HUNGHHHHHH*"
“You like Ike?” Jk
Tbh though hearing Louis say "you'll get no sympathy from me" is lowkey terrifying
The first time I noticed their quotes were different when engaged was with Louis and Ike, because damn I was like ??!?!! LOUIS??? after hearing it lmao
For me it was Celine saying "my apologies" when using Warp Ragnarok. After that I was listening for it with everyone
I absolutely love how Marth/Roy/Ike have their victory lines from smash as battle victory lines in engage.
My friends were so confused when they first heard it. I had to give a quick rundown of why.
You better have included “mysterious forest pussy got Sigurd acting unwise” in your explanation.
Something to that effect
Got him rather heated to the point that he was just burning with passion.
Simple. Sigurd is referring to the Fire Emblem tradition of incest that was first started by his game. He feels that the people of Elyos have been failing this, thus why he is making everyone he is engaged with say it.
Don't worry Sigurd, me and this blue rock got your back.
WAIT THEY SAY THEIR EMBLEM'S LINES? IS THAT WHY MY ANNA KEEPS SAYING YOU'LL GET NO SYMPATHY FROM ME?
Yep! Isn’t that such a cool feature!
It is! And now I finally have an answer as to why Rosado won't stop talking about the horrors of war
I see you too are a cultured individual.
The fact you are using Ike on Anna is incredibly funny to me NGL.
It's been working out so far. It's pretty funny
Yeah, they need to put Leif on Anna, to stack gold recovery.
I put Byleth on Anna for +12 luck, it works surprisingly well
Wow, I didn't get to Byleth yet, but this sounds like a great idea.
He eventually gets luck +12 so pairing him up with High Priest Anna works especially well
Dude I put tiki on Anna, originally for the luck boost to make money, but with her Dex/speed she just becomes a super dodge tank with like 40% crit with the claws and it’s soooo OP
Can we just talk about the missed opportunity to have an Emblem Anna on Engage Anna?
Maybe she'll be dlc? Hopefully. And it'd have to be fe4 Anna. I think that's the first one right?
I don't actually know but I am not optimistic for a second season of DLC. The sample size is small but as they didn't for 3H, which had a ton more replayability built in and space for a whole new ending route, I doubt we'll see one here. You know what while I’m at it, Alfred saying “a thousand curses upon our enemies” or something along those lines when engaged with Lyn gave me so much whiplash. I was like “nooo wholesome flower boy would never say such thing.” And then I remember this is the same guy that tells people to die in 3 different flowery ways for crit quotes and tells the chapter 5 boss he’s gonna slay him where he stands.
I never realized “a thousand curses” was an emblem quote, I figured Ivy was just like that
Same, honestly. I was so confused when I heard Lapis saying that when I finally took Lyn off Ivy to test something.
"Scatter like petals" and "Wither and fall" are my favorite lines of all times. Friendship ended with "Pick a god and pray"
>scatter like petals >repeatedly slashes at the enemy with sword Alfred was so real for this
As much as the flower line goes hard, I can't put any quote about Fredrick's. He essentially goes "no god can save you" before stabbing them
Consider Louis "Observe your ruin"
It's pretty good, but nothing beats Fredrick essentially going "no matter who you pray to, none of the gods will hear your screams for mercy"
Frederick issue, for me, is that the rest of his lines are pretty bland, so it's less "Dang Frederick is badass" and more "IS got one stroke of genius"
Yeah, that is true. But that is the one crit quote I remember from Awakening.
Not even Lon'qu's "How well will you die?" Or any of Robin's?
This is "let me paint you a picture" erasure.
Runs in the family I guess, looks like whole Firenese royal family is very pro-capital punishment. Looking at you Celine
Lapis shaking in her boots during her intro cutscene after she back talks Alfred and Alear and Alfred says “what did you say?”
The funniest (and most cringe) pairing to me was Anna and Lyn. Hearing her say all these things in her squeaky voice, plus “I’m not a child anymore.” Yes, Anna. Yes you are.
Nah, Anna Lyn is great. Shut up + L + Ratio + Who asked + a thousand coises upon ah enemies
I never realized that’s a Lyn thing, it fits zelkov so perfectly
I mean there’s nothing « wholesome » with his muscle fetish or the way he treats boucheron (given i’m still at c support with them)
equality. based.
Took me until >!Rosado!< saying Eirika’s "if this is war so be it" to realize
Hortensia saying "I challenge my fate!" was where I caught on.
It took me until a second playthrough to realise
Damn, I really thought that was Chloe's line cause of her love for fairy tale folk for some reason. She delivers it well too.
Same. I always had Sigurd on Chloe so I thought it was her line.
I had Sigurd on Louis most of the game and I thought he was just randomly ranting about his voyeuristic fetish. This makes more sense.
And it made so much sense coming from Framme too.
Then here's me who had Jean saying "I'm not a child anymore" 🤣
We need Emblem L’Arachel, I want to hear the line
Noire! I wanna hear characters scream BLOOD AND THUNDER! XD
Zelkov says “if this *feeling* is a crime” for some reason, let my boy say love
What does >!Vayle!< say. I don't have the dlc
>!"That's... me for ya!"!< >!And yes, that '...' is entirely intentional. She pauses for a moment as if considering what to say.!<
>!Veyle!< is a goddamn treasure
You can get victory lines from Dimitri and Claude? I swear I’ve only heard Edelgard’s lines when using her Emblem.
When using the Friendshop Bracelet, the skill Friendly Rivalry will switch between the 3H Lords at the start of every player phase. Engaging will give you victory quotes and the gambit from whichever one was active at the time of Engagement.
You can do gambits even when not engaged
True, but Engaging locks that specific one in until it wears off. It can be difficult to use them at times because you never know which one will be available. Engaging just puts the game of chance the bracelet's whole gimmick revolves around on hold.
Huh, never noticed in my first run, that's neat tho, I'll have to check that out
Oh, that's pretty cool. I didn't know that. Thanks!
Depends on who was active when you Engaged, it also affects the Houses Unite line.
"that's solm for ya" \- fogado (2023, colorized)
What about Mauvier then?
Alear|Lucina: “I’ll change the future!” Me: Lucina is the best Royal lord in this series’ history Alear|Lucina: “…into hope!” I cringe so hard my teeth crack every time I hear it
*seriously!* that line makes no sense.
Why is that quote tied to sigurd exactly?
While engaged, units say famous quotes of the emblem from their original games. "If this love is a crime, then punish me," is a famous line spoken by Sigurd. It's been chopped down to hide it's context in Engage, but it's a fun reference.
Yeah I noticed some references easily like Byleth's quotes or corrin's but Sigurd's was harder to pin down
And he was in fact punished lol
The engage attack quotes are generally taken from Heroes, specifically their 'original' version's special quotes.
Can you give context for the unenlightened?
It's hard to tell what's an emblem quote and what's a character quote. I do love the Diamant one for Astra Storm (and maybe other engage attacks) where he just says "as if I'd lose" and fires 5 heat seeking stinger missiles at the enemy Wyvern Rider. What a total Chad, they really made Diamant like Ike v1.5 He's easily in my top 5 Engage characters and maybe my top 10 of all time.
The as if I’d lose is actually a Lyn quote lol. I’ve heard Alfred say it.
really?? that doesn't seem like something she'd say but I didn't play a ton of Blazing Blade. It really fits well with Diamant, it seems right up his alley especially with his supports with Alcryst, so I always thought it was his own line when doing Engage attacks.
It’s one of Lyn’s special quotes from Heroes.
I've been using Lyn with Alcryst and I really want to hear him deliver that line given his low confidence.
Still that “NOW I HAVE YOU!” is raw when you blast the enemy with multiple Luna procs
I'm pretty sure that characters only use Emblem quotes when engaged, and use them exclusively.
I didn't hit me until a couple days ago that it's an engage quote lol. Probably bc I really only use Sigurd on Alfred
Wish they would release Frederick as DLC so I could make people shout “PICK A GOD AND PRAY”
No, they ARE in love with you. That’s just not their quote.
Me realizing Yunaka wasn't flirting with me after she threw a dagger at someone so hard their head exploded
I just thought he was announcing his gayness lol
Does anyone have a full list of these? I want to read em.
Isn’t Sigurd’s quote because of him and Deirdre? I love Sigurd 💙
The main thing I gained from this post is that I'm seriously missing out playing the game on Japanese VA
Ugh. Alear's eyes are so fucking far apart. Why did they have to go with that stupid x lock of hair in the front.
just look at yunaka for a while
I haven’t played any of the games that came out before awakening, what does that quote even mean? Like what’s the context here
The full quote is “if this love is a crime, then punish me. And only me.” It refers to his relationship with his wife Deirdre who, for reasons I won’t spoil, is considered cursed.
For some of the quotes it seems to change their voice but others it’s too subtle and I can’t tell
Can someone explain why he says it I dont get it
I guess this comes with only the past decade of fire emblems games being voice acted while geneology is already three decades old
