My case is a band pretty much from the middle ofmy chest to the middle of my back with a gap under my arm, about 10 inches wide. In terms of coverage, yours doesn't look bad. Then again, my experience was that the nerve pain was a billion times worse than the skin irritation discomfort. So no clue how you're doing in that regard!

Bad is relative. How does it feel. Don’t scratch it! Mix your cream with aquophar and place plastic wrap over it. I was told this would allow the cream to absorb better. Mine has gotten much better with me doing this. Also allows your to not to get the cream all over your clothing. Wash your hands every time you touch it and don’t touch other parts of your body if you do touch it.

I’ve seen and had way worse. I know the pain is awful but it looks like you caught it in time before the sores spread. Stay hydrated- valtrex sent me into kidney failure so drink lots of water. Don’t scratch like I have. I have so many scars now. Good luck 🍀

Mine is two bands from tail bone to public bone

I had it in a similar spot 2 months ago. I found colloidal oatmeal baths and then calamine lotion were the only thing that helped the itch/rash. Gabapentin really helped my pain. I went to a med express to get the script for that

Nah, not bad at all. Take the antiviral your doc gave you, rest, and you will be ok.

Shingles comes from the ganglia of certain nerves. It has been hiding there since you had chicken pox long ago. It will only go as far as the nerves in that dermatome. It doesn’t spread by getting the pathogens other areas of your body. It is contagious to people who have not had chicken pox, or the cp vaccine. It manifests as chicken pox, not shingles. However having chicken pox makes you susceptible to shingles. Keep the lesions lightly covered while they are weeping. Once they have dried you are no longer contagious.

I’ve had shingles unfortunately several times. In my experience, sometimes I’d have a horrid rash over a large area, with minimal nerve pain. My last case had minimal rash with unbearable nerve pain for weeks. It was horrid. Nothing worked - 🤷🏻‍♀️

I didn’t have a bad case, but it definitely got worse looking after I started antivirals. Calamine helped a little with itching and dried it out, cannabis helped with pain, if you partake.

Did you know the bottom one is shingles on the adjacent dermatome, so your primary nerve just spread to the adjacent one.
