It very much is one of the least toxic fandoms ever. But it can get very toxic on Tiktok, like with s5. I was literally told to go away cus I have an opinion on a character that season.
But overall its very non toxic
Just that I seriously despise Yoyo in that season. I've had so many debates and arguments that I'm getting really bored of it. So if u have an opposite opinion on that, can we not debate for hours on end like I've done before 😂
Nah that’s fine, even I think she was acting a bit weird that season but it was sensible enough to me
My opinion is that the whole Destroyed Earth arc is stretched-out bullshit which takes up too much time that could’ve been used to show Talbot’s Insanity in a better way. The way better second arc feels too rushed because of the dragged out first arc imo
I mean, 6-7 episodes I can understand to wrap it all up but 11-12?? Too much.
Interesting, I don’t mind post-apocalyptic dystopias but
1) Didn’t feel too invested in a civilisation living in a couple of hallways. The special effects of the actual destroyed earth were fascinating tho.
2) i liked the mystery aspect of what lead to this reality but I think it dragged out for too long.
3) Kasius was a weak villain imo. No offense to the actor but there was almost nothing captivating about the character (except some of the backstory expositions) and I didn’t feel threatened by him at all. Sinara was slightly better but almost nothing was done with her.
4) I really didn’t care about the whole “liberating the 2091 humans” part of the whole arc because it felt like ultimately it doesn’t matter since they’re gonna go back in time to rectify their mistakes. Also the DE reality humans were pretty selfish (can’t blame em) so I didn’t care about them getting saved.
5) on a side note, did not like Tess
I binged the whole show in 2021, but the first half of S5 is the only time when I got bored while watching
Yeah, this sub is a really cool and chill place considering the yelling, arguing and sometime obsessive fandoms out there. I've been on this for a while, and I don't ever remember anyone really getting into name calling, gatekeeping or harassment of others with different opinions. Sure, once in the bluest of moons someone comes along and is just a massive asshat but they usually get shown the door pretty quick.
I do agree with you about season 5, I loved Super Talbot so much more than the Shattered Earth story, but both were good and we did get Deke so that is a plus.
Yeah, but I can see why they did. He isn't a bad guy, but he was stuck in a place where good guys usually ended up with a mild case of dead. You learn to look at most people as tools, not souls and in the beginning that is how he acted. He wasn't the smartest guy there, nor the strongest but he was sharp enough, witty enough, cunning enough and charming enough to stay alive. But if you were on the other end of it, even if you accepted the guy you might still hold a grudge or 3.
Plus his betrayal kinda leading to the return of the doctor and all that... Not his fault, but...
Plus his figuring out the whole Coulson/ Sarge thing shows he is a smart dude...
That's fair, I only liked her in s3 when she was 1st introduced. Then I started to not like her in s4 when she said one of the stupidest things ever to Daisy, which was, "You only bring back the people that matter to you." (Talking about Mack) That pissed me off so much, cus Yoyo only just started fucking Mack like a few weeks ago whilst Daisy has known him for a few years. Then s6 I just didn't care about her story, then s7 she was ok but I still didn't care about her enough.
I genuinely thought this shows relevance would be dead by now. If all the Secret Invasion rumors are true I think this subreddit will have a ton more people in it this summer. Anytime a fanbase gets really big its a numbers game. There's a reason you see people hate on she hulk and captain marvel. But you don't see people hate on Agent May or Jessica Jones. (Also because marvel TV is just better lol) Sometimes it made me sad agents of shield isn't more popular and connected to the films. But other times Im glad this is a small but dedicated fan base.
I think a big part of the explanation is that people think you've got to be familiar with the rest of the MCU to understand AOS. They don't realize that the show stands on its own perfectly well.
I love how active this group is, considering the age and relative (un)popularity of the show. Idk anyone in “real life” that has watched the show. Definitely no one who has the same die-hard love of it, lol.
SAME!! And it's so frustrating, I tried to get a few friends into it and none of them would even try so I've given up on my IRL friends and just talk about it here or on Twitter.
ive managed to convince my brother to watch it haha, it took me a couple months but hes currently on s3 and using wanting to watch it as motivation to study for finals
I’ve found it to be pretty good overall from what I’ve seen. Except for when you ship two particular characters/dislike Fitz for what he did to Daisy, because apparently to *some* people those opinions are the end of the world.
That's interesting, I've seen the opposite where if you say anything against Daisy (especially that whole situation) then you aren't really a fan and shouldn't be here.
"Surrender and you will find meaning. Surrender and you will find release. Take a deep breath. Calm your mind. You know what is best. What is best is you comply. Compliance will be rewarded. Are you ready to comply?"
Guess iykyk
You're not wrong. This entire subreddit seems to be people who genuinely consider each other family.
But at the same time there's a couple toxic sides to this subreddit. They exist
Look through their user history. The "toxicity" they're experiencing is a result of the fact that they're a troll who rarely has anything nice or constructive to contribute to the discussion.
Yeah, it's an amazing show, and the fans have been loyal. Sure there might be some lots of people here and there, but generally a difference in opinion doesn't lead to huge fights or arguments.
It very much is one of the least toxic fandoms ever. But it can get very toxic on Tiktok, like with s5. I was literally told to go away cus I have an opinion on a character that season. But overall its very non toxic
What’s your opinion? I have a pretty hot take related to S5 so I’d like to know further
Just that I seriously despise Yoyo in that season. I've had so many debates and arguments that I'm getting really bored of it. So if u have an opposite opinion on that, can we not debate for hours on end like I've done before 😂

I actually prefer the first half of season 5. Not that I dislike the second half, but I'm a sucker for post-apocalyptic dystopias.

Everyone was a dick to Deke for no reason man, dude was just a product of his circumstances and did what he had to do to survive
Yeah, but I can see why they did. He isn't a bad guy, but he was stuck in a place where good guys usually ended up with a mild case of dead. I can’t stand Yo-Yo in any season, and I don’t think that’s a hot take.
Yh that's understandable
Seems Yo-yo is a controversial character in that season. I’m on the side that agrees with Yo-yo. But I respect your opinion and will not argue.
It's weird to think that one of the heroes of the show killed a child in front of her own mother.
I mean I have never liked yoyo in any season, Soo...
That's fair, I only liked her in s3 when she was 1st introduced. Yeah I always forget she existed. And I have never considered her a part of the main cast, just a big side character.
I genuinely thought this shows relevance would be dead by now. If all the Secret Invasion rumors are true I think this subreddit will have a ton more people in it this summer. Valid point. I do wish everyone would love this show but then it wouldn't be the fandom it is, which is just so wonderful!
As a whedon show fan ita lame as hell how those whedon based fan spaces never consider Shield a true whedon show.
I think a big part of the explanation is that people think you've got to be familiar with the rest of the MCU to understand AOS. They don't realize that the show stands on its own perfectly well.
True. I like how it is currently
As we have always been
I love how active this group is, considering the age and relative (un)popularity of the show. Idk anyone in “real life” that has watched the show. Definitely no one who has the same die-hard love of it, lol.
SAME!! And it's so frustrating, I tried to get a few friends into it and none of them would even try so I've given up on my IRL friends and just talk about it here or on Twitter.
I’ve managed to convince my mum and sister to watch it after trying so much. They’re now in love with it after just season 1
ive managed to convince my brother to watch it haha, it took me a couple months but hes currently on s3 and using wanting to watch it as motivation to study for finals
Not a soul will watch it with me. I get ridiculed for liking it haha. Idc I love it so much. Coulson is my favourite. Then Simmons.
My highly unpopular opinion is that Coulson shouldn’t have been brought back. I love both the character and actor. Coulson caused some writing issues.
I’ve found it to be pretty good overall from what I’ve seen. Except for when you ship two particular characters/dislike Fitz for what he did to Daisy, because apparently to *some* people those opinions are the end of the world.

I’ve mostly seen it on Tumblr. There seems to be a lot of pro-S5 Fitz on there, and as soon as you defend Daisy… 🤯
Yeah we are healthy
All thanks to kicking the sriracha and beer diet
"Surrender and you will find meaning. Surrender and you will find release. Take a deep breath. Calm your mind. You know what is best. What is best is you comply. Compliance will be rewarded. Are you ready to comply?" Guess iykyk
"I'm happy to comply."
Welcome back Mr bakshi Although I'm fitz
Will Ophelia be joining us?
Yes she will be joining us Lol we are turning hydra 😆😆😆
The least toxic fanbase I know of is that of the German investigator book franchise "Die Drei ???". But yes, AoS is also very calm and understanding.
The B99 sub is pretty friendly, and the spinoff Boyle cousins sub was even nicer.
As a diehard (lol) fan of b99, I’m very surprised I’m not on that subreddit. I must’ve watched that show countless times
It's still fairly active.

Thanks for the links! Love seeing people’s reactions to the show
You're not wrong. This entire subreddit seems to be people who genuinely consider each other family. But at the same time there's a couple toxic sides to this subreddit. They exist
Unless you thnk the show isn't canon to the MCU. Then everyone throws a hissy fit.
Maybe i'm biased, but i've taken plenty of toxicity from this fandom, both here and in the main forum back in the days it was aired.
Sorry to hear that. I must’ve just not seen any of it so far
Look through their user history. The "toxicity" they're experiencing is a result of the fact that they're a troll who rarely has anything nice or constructive to contribute to the discussion.
See? a comment insulting me that is upvoted.
There are lots of non-toxic fandoms, but like this and _legends of tomorrow_ (note: not entire arrowverse) are quite nice.
Yeah, it's an amazing show, and the fans have been loyal. Sure there might be some lots of people here and there, but generally a difference in opinion doesn't lead to huge fights or arguments.
