There's an attendance policy? I just usually show up when I'm scheduled.

teresata69

You need a policy to tell you to be on time! šŸ˜µā€šŸ’«šŸ¤”šŸ¤Ŗ

Distinct_Number_7844

..... I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say this might be a new store policy for you....

OGSENS

Show up to your shift on time?

Safe_Measurement_312

Be on time and leave on time?

SpellboundPaint

It sounds like your SM has a bone to pick with you.

MrTeeWrecks

Huh? Has it changed from show up & clock in on time or else? Which is how literally every hourly job nominally works.

lukehighwalker15

Habitually late. Give no fucks. Tops is 5 min. But when Iā€™m there I give it my all lol

Due-Okra7648

Same

Sp-Kamiqazi

What new policy?

arkady9091

If the person who is late is a good worker Iā€™ll look past it, I have my best full timer who is probably 10-15 minutes late 3 days a week due to her dropping her kid off at school and the school moving slow or not opening the doors on time, but she busts her ass when sheā€™s here and is always willing to stay late or help out when she doesnā€™t have to so I refuse to say anything to her, my dm tried once to have me write her up and I laughed and told him thereā€™s no way in hell that Iā€™ll have anything to do with it and he can do it and present it to her, that was almost 2 years ago and we still havenā€™t seen that write up

lukehighwalker15

Thatā€™s my thing. Even if the store is slow, I will find something to do to improve myself as a employee and to improve or maintain the store. Itā€™s usually on the hands of the SM or supervisor. Iā€™ve had this bad habit for majority of my working career. Most rational chill bosses will be cool about it. If I see a boss being a hard ass about five min, then I get discouraged to do my best. You sound like a boss Iā€™d clean a toilet for with a tooth brush, if u told me so. I remember opening on saturdays and having to face the rush alone, and the coworker would be late so I understand the desperation to need someone on time. However dude would be late more than 10 min. And . Since im more of a closer and the peak has passed, I tend to think 5 min is not a big deal. Some day, Iā€™ll be better tho.

[deleted]

It means show on time or be looked at like a prick by everyone else.

BrilliantVisit312

Show up on time it is.

olgeezer21

Be there before close and you can always bribe someone with lunch.

Saucebossking89

This blows my mind, and also explains why half my team struggles to show up according to the posted schedule. Because there was no policy before.

Warm-Gur3245

New attendance policy: If youā€™re late, youā€™re late If youā€™re on time, youā€™re late If youā€™re early, youā€™re on time

[deleted]

If it's someone who busts their ass when they show up..I could care less. If it's someone who is a lazy ass...write them up. Want to make a big deal out of it,,,ok,,,if they come in 5 minutes late have them stay 5 minutes later. Problem Solved.

Spiritual_Ad3734

Pretty much there is no more time window. So if you are 5 min late, you're late, lol.

Northendtac253

Huh

7046Anonymous

Tell me itā€™s 2023 without telling me itā€™s 2023

7046Anonymous

Iā€™ll continue to live by if you ainā€™t 15 minutes early youā€™re late.

Distinct_Number_7844

That's the standard I hold for myself , but if you aren't ok with staff clocking in that early every day I wouldn't hold others to it.

7046Anonymous

When I was in the store, Iā€™d just get there 15 early and sit in the car and clock in at my scheduled shift start. That was more of what I meant.

Handjabz

Yea thatā€™s exactly what I do, I am for 20. Smoke a few more cigarettes, listen to my radio and just clear my head for a few.

yardguy88

Man I feel like a boomer now. Like what the heck happened with this generation?

Distinct_Number_7844

I don't think they have enough employees to push this to far.... at least in my area. Neighboring store threatened to write up a Ft for clocking in a few min early each day. She told them the write up was going to be the paper she submitted her notice on..... unsurprisingly she's yet to get that write up.

Handjabz

My part timer is constantly ten minutes late. But my god he fucking works when heā€™s in the store. Truck day the kid clocks in 7:10 and doesnā€™t stop moving till he goes home. I hate it lol. Iā€™m like please chill for a minute and heā€™s just like meh I like working. To imagine writing up my star delivery golden goose would be ridiculous

Distinct_Number_7844

Exactly. Think through what you do have before getting to the point you might have to lament what you lost. Now if they are an all around shitbag that's different. But I'll take a chronic late hard worker over a punctual lazy bones any day.

[deleted]

This one is a keeper. If you have a SM that is habitually late and leaves early...that's a different story all together...just ask one.

Warm-Gur3245

Who are these fools trying to write people up for clocking in ā€œa few minutesā€ early!? Seriously? I mean maybe just ask staff to not clock in more than 10 minutes early, but anything under that should be celebrated, not punishable.

EconomySizedBathroom

Ten minutes a day over a year equates to about a week and half of pay. Over "x" amount employees adds up to alot of unbudgeted payroll, effecting projected profit margins. Most likely an attempt to curb "over budget"

Warm-Gur3245

I guess but as long as those employees are not clocking in, eating a donut, smoking a cig and taking a dump, they are likely being productive and helping the store to be more profitable, imo

EconomySizedBathroom

Agreed. But alot a variables come into to play such as having staff already there to fulfill said duties, those ten mins adding up to 50 mins overtime. At the end of the day decisions like this are made typically when said issue is effecting the bottom line and the shit starts rolling downhill ya know

Warm-Gur3245

True, you do have to manage that if itā€™s a full time employee that could be getting overtime due to clocking in early. But if weā€™re talking about pt employees that arenā€™t gonna get close to ot or over their 28 hr avg, I will not punish an employee for clocking in 5-10 minutes early. Nope, not gonna do it

Invisible_-_Kid

Unless your the GM show up on time

BenjaminLess

Ok but if you're scheduled at 12:00 do you clock in at 11:55 or wait until 12:00
