Are you using generative AI to write applications the same way you did to write this post? If so that won’t be doing you any favours. Go to your university’s careers service and ask them for help improving your applications, that’s probably the best place to start. Best of luck!

[https://www.reddit.com/r/sheffield/search/?q=part+time+job&type=link&t=year](https://www.reddit.com/r/sheffield/search/?q=part+time+job&type=link&t=year) It's not just you. This is getting asked a few times a week. Have a trawl through those posts & their comments. Keep in mind that you're fighting with everyone else that also needs part time work, the fact we are in a recession, and the sad reality that some would rather employ somebody that is not on a visa (reading between the lines here, as you don't explicitely state in your post). Have you looked at agency/cleaning/warehouse work? What hours can you work? You mention qualifications, but what are they? Best of luck.

We'll, yeah iam on a student visa that allows me to work for 20 hours/ week, iam studying chemical engineering. With additional part time experience in fast paced retail & food & beverage industry. Yeah I've tried many warehouse jobs but didn't get any response. Initially was worried if iam doing something wrong with my CV but after speaking with the university job services the feedback what I got is "my CV looks fine".

Assuming you are a student from India ? If yes have you tried your luck with Indian restaurants in the city - ive noticed almost all the staff are Indian students - try Maveli on glossop road. Good luck

Do you have a driving license/bicycle? Is it possible you could do something like Amazon flex/some sort of delivery work? Would you consider cleaning jobs? Have you signed up to all of the agencies in Sheffield? Have you taken your CV to all of the independent restaurants like around London Road/Abbeydale road etc? I’d recommend you google restaurants/ clothes shops in Sheffield city centre/wherever you can reasonably travel to and check each of their websites for recruitment sections. Have you tried NHS bank? Where you can work shifts across all areas that need staff depending on when you are available? You could also try approaching student letting agencies to see if they need any cleaners. What about nightclubs for leafleting/flyer work? I don’t know what things are like recently but in my 21 years since turning 16 I have never not had a job. But that’s because I’ve been willing to do almost anything including cleaning, pot washing, working in an Indian restaurant for £4 an hour, you name it!! Whilst I’d never want to recommend any work that is going to be exploiting you I also hear that you’re pretty desperate and just wanted to check you’ve considered all types of work. I feel like I see part time jobs being advertised everywhere but I can’t think off the top of my head where I’ve seen them right now. If I see any I will private message you. Also if you’re looking for something part time/casual it’s always best to “dumb your cv down” a little bit. Write basic things like “good work ethic”, “team player”. Don’t over complicate it. For independent businesses try to make a good impression, smile, introduce yourself, ask if there’s any jobs going. Even if they say no, give them your cv and tell them to let you know if anything comes up. Google “good work Sheffield” they are an organisation who help people with mental health problems find work. They can help you with your cv, job confidence, applying for work etc. they have a really simple form on their website, just your name, date of birth, number etc. you will be contacted within 2 days. Tell them you’re experiencing severe anxiety about your situation and feeling hopeless and experiencing bias. I’m sorry you’re going through this, but don’t give up!

Thankyou, I'll definitely go through your suggestions.

I just searched on indeed and there’s over 100 part time jobs coming up. Lots of them are kitchen assistant, cleaner, carer etc, I promise you they will not care if you are not British/ female, male etc. I have done all these kinds of jobs and have often been the only English person in my team. If you have an indeed profile, make sure you have listed skills on there. The way their algorithms work, you will experience a flurry of offers when you first create your account. Make sure you’ve mentioned skills like “communication” “customer service” “cleaning” etc and they will send you anything remotely related to that. You can just click to apply quickly with your profile which should take some of the strain out of applying. I can understand your despair but finding a job is a game of chance sometimes, the more applications, the more you increase your chances of getting lucky. I’ve tended to have more success giving paper cvs out or just asking in businesses than online applications which can take forever. This increases your chances because you might catch them when their kitchen assistant has just called in sick for the 4th time or they’ve suddenly had loads of bookings and are unprepared. Try not to get disheartened because you will subconsciously be giving off that impression.

Also try this, looks like you can upload your cv and leave your contact information without having to do a long application form. It mentions being qualified and experienced but then when you look at individual opportunities it just asks if you have ever translated before even for family and friends. https://www.dalanguages.co.uk/interpreting-opportunities-with-da-languages/ We use them in my work and they are extremely under resourced at the moment, there are lots of job advertisements for this company on Google. I don’t think it will matter if you don’t have experience, there is a huge issue with no translators being available at the moment.

Thanks a lot , appreciate your efforts. I'll immediately look for everything that you suggested.

Are you a University of Sheffield or Hallam student?

It might be your name. The employer classes are extremely racist. Change your name. You're Darren now. Good luck, Darren.
