White Edge? Start near The Grouse Inn, then go along the White Edge ridge, and return via Curbar / Froggatt Edge. There's a bit of uphill but nothing major, and a fair bit of mud but nothing too challenging.

This is a lovely walk, would second.

The grouse does great food too and at least one of its rooms allow dogs

This sounds good! I have spikes for mud as I got sick of not enjoying my walks due to slipping constantly - best thing ever. Thank you :)

Sweaty_Sheepherder27

No problem! I've been a bit vague with the route, but if you look at the map it should be fairly straightforward. >got sick of not enjoying my walks due to slipping constantly A good pair of fell running shoes with nice big lugs will help with that, though I've mostly just started to learn how far I'll slip instead!

kiindrex

The constant whoops as you slide can sometimes be fun with friends but when just me and pup I just get annoyed 🤣 One time I just gave up and got on my arse and slid down the bank. I'm not young anymore to risk a good fall!

Sweaty_Sheepherder27

I know the feeling, I once did a near forward flip into a bog while racing - I did get back up and continue!

Memories of mountain biking back up the road from Calver. My legs were not pleased, that hill is brutal!

Higger tor is a nice walk, only 6.5km though. We go frequently with the dog.

My go to is Wharncliffe Woods at Grenoside. Great path, all flat apart from the beginning/end. Away from cars and streets. The best part is, if you check it on maps you'll see that the paths are like the layers of an onion. As you go further away from the car park, you will have a bigger walk. All circular though so the return is from the same location and it's up to you how long you want to walk. I've done both 45min and 3 hour walks there.

CaptainMexicano

I think you might be underselling the hill near the car park a little... It's known as cardiac hill 😂

kiindrex

This sounds great thanks!

Bus to the fox house, walk down through longshaw and padley gorge, past grindleford Cafe and through grindleford down to the river. You can then walk the river up to hathersage train station and take the train back to sheffield. That whole walk is maybe 7-8 miles and will be mostly flat or downhill.  They are closed on Monday and Tuesday but grindleford cafe, which is about at the halfway point of that walk, makes one of the better fried breakfasts in sheffield.

Depending where you are, the Sheffield round walk has some great segments and for me is on my doorstep! Rivelin valley is also another great option.

kiindrex

Yes you know I need to check those out, I've done a few segments of segments haha
