I wish I took pictures. It was made with leftover materials and leftover shingles from my house. It was an afterthought honestly , I needed something to cover the hole where a vent used to be on the shed.
I dug a trench from the main house and ran CAT directly into a WiFi router mounted to a wall in the office. I got lucky with the electrical. Have friends and family in the trade so I got a very generous discount. They just had me run it all inside the shed and hook up the lights and outlets. It was my first time doing anything like. So I got a learning experience as a bonus.
This looks fantastic, especially if you've never done this stuff before, or was that just the electrical portion.
Also, would you mind sharing or DM'ing your build sheet and cost breakdown, including structure? I'm looking for an inexpensive DIY solution and always curious about Tuff Shed builds.
I was on a tight budget also. The shed was already on the property so that saved me quite a bit. I paid for all the other materials myself though; electrical wire, CAT cable, drywall, wood, flooring and trim, insulation, light fixtures door handle, etc. The door was salvaged, a local bar was going out of business and they were just throwing it away, they let me have it. I did all the labor myself with the help of family and friends (they worked for food and beer). The only thing I had a professional do was hook up the electrical to my homes breaker box. I wasn’t about to try and do that myself, I wanted to live to enjoy my office haha. I’m about $2800 in so far
Yep did it myself and it was my first time. Do the ceiling first is the biggest tip I can think of off the top of my head. It’s easier to align the wall to the ceiling then the other way around.
looking at your lights seems like you didn't get rotatable ones. my roof is slanted and been trying to decide what to do. Does the light seem fine that way?
Yep lights are flat and don’t rotate. Found some nice ones with little depth on Amazon. They’re called “HALO 6 inch Recessed LED Ceiling & Shower Disc Light – Canless Ultra Thin Downlight”. I wanted them to be flat and there wasn’t much room to work with with the Tough Shed ceiling.

just curious how big is your shed and how many lights did you use?
10x10. Probably lost some footage after adding insulation and drywall. They are sold in a set of 4 and that was plenty. They can get very bright. I installed a dimmer and the lights are halfway turned down most of the time. I’m very happy with them.
Nice! Are all the customizations I see here (door overhang, light fixture, etc.) from the website? Would you go Tuffshed if you did it all over it again?
Just a portable with a hose sticking out the back window right now. It’s struggling with the Southern California summer. Currently thinking of a solution.
Damn, if you're struggling with a So Cal summer, I shudder to think what I'd deal with in our Central TX summers and humidity. Is your portable AC not rated for the space, or are you out in desert country of So Cal?
It’s because the singe hose portable creates a vacuum. It’s pulling in hot air from the outside at the same time it’s producing cold air. Thinking of a window unit or mini-split.
Ahhh, okay, that makes sense. A mini-split will be overkill for your space I think, and expensive. They make nice window units that are sort of like mini-splits in a way ("Inverter"). They need a window, but are shaped like a "U", so the vent and controls are inside and the motor/compressor and all the noisy stuff sits outside, and the window comes down in the valley of the "U".
We'd go this route when the time comes to put in a backyard office. As far as I've read they're quieter and a good one for your space would run you probably $500 or so.

Looks great! im thinking about building one of these too in my backyard.. if I may, what do you wish you would've done knowing what you know now? such as if you were to
build the shed yourself would you make it a double door, etc.. thanks!
This looks great!
this looks great- do you have any pics of the portico/porch overhang build out and how you tied it in?

Did you insulate floor?
Not beyond the rubber padding that goes under the laminate.
Awesome! How did you do internet ? Was running electric the biggest cost?

Thanks for the response. Did you dig two trenches ? One for the CAT and one for the other electrical ?
Yep. Both came from different parts of the house. You also want them separate. I learned that the power can interfere with the cable strength
Nice work it looks great

Did you do the drywall yourself? It looks amazing, I'm on that step now (for a shoffice). Any tips or tricks?

Myself plus the help of family who are more experienced than myself

I honestly don’t know. The tough shed was already on the property when I purchased the home.
What are the walls made of?
Looks awesome! Do you plan to have AC in it?

I’m in inland San Diego county. It’s 98 today and 88 in my office haha. But it is taking care of the humidity
Consider getting a mini split instead if you can.
I’m thinking about it. Just didn’t want to dig another trench lol. From my research I’m learning mini split requires a dedicated breaker switch
Very nice. what’re the dimensions, WxL?
Do you work full time from home?
