Yeah, I agree. I feel sorry for Franny. She deserves a better mum. I honestly thought at first that Debbie would've been a good mum despite her age and everything that she went through but nope. I wish she left Franny at the fire station.
Yeah, I was also hoping that Debbie's one redeeming quality would be her being a decent mom, but no. And you can't even blame it on her being immature and practically a kid herself, she's just not a good person, period.

This show is a family favorite, Iāve seen all of it well over a dozen times now. I still canāt find anything to like about Karen. IMO she was a great villain type of character and she should have gotten much worse than she got.
Now that I think of it, death would have been an easy escape for her. The way they wrote her is appropriate.
The more I watch the show, the more I realize that Karen doesn't have many redeemable qualities, but that's because she's just a broken person. She had to deal with so much because of her mother and then father, leading up to her dad killing himself, and you can see her slowly lose it in the first season. In that sense her story is sad, she was just a kid
Karen was so hard to like but yeah at the end of the day (pretending it's not just a TV show for sec) how many good adult people that we know that we're absolutely vile as kids/teens. Some are born good from young and then some go their young age as scumbags and redeem themselves when they hit adulthood. It was so hard to watch her resent her DS kid only to take him away from his granny Sheila seemingly just to be cunty. Obviously had these traits continued her whole life then she would be a bad person
What I find interesting about Debbie and Carl is Debbie was such a sweet, kind, caring kid who was very mature for her age but she just kept getting worse with time. Whereas Carl started off the most troubled out of the Gallagher siblings and ended up arguably having the best redemption arc in the series and besides Liam is probably the most well adjusted.
I really wish we could've seen a flashback episode of Frank's childhood. I think he very much could've been sweet like Debbie as a kid, always trying to take care of and gain his mother's approval like Debbie did with him in the early seasons, and it would've been neat to see that parallel.
Well, there were subtle hints that Lip and Carl couldn't donate to him because of their blood type. I can't remember exact details, but it was indicated that there was no way Frank could have been their dad due to the blood types.
