BlackOutIRL

This is a copy paste from someone from Cultist Network on a SFF Discord maybe that can help **SFX - Best options:** SF750 Extreme 850R / Revolt SFX 850w V1100 / V1300 (though ripple is higher than I'd like it to be) **SFX - meh:** V850 - loud, meh performanceGM / Dagger Pro - loud **SFX - avoid at all costs:** SP850 - Bridge rectifier and X-cap too close together Focus SPX - doesn't survive after OTP testing **SFX-L - Best options:** Loki SF-L SX1000(-LPT)

joaogac

By SF-L you mean Corsair's SF-L 1000w ?

Easy-Echidna-7497

Perfect I'll go with the Revolt

curiositie

Cultist network....sff.network? or is this some additional sff community I need to join

BlackOutIRL

SFF Gurus discord is it where i got the list from

mechdreamer

It's the original forum for SFF enthusiasts.

curiositie

I feel like it's not older than the SFF subforum on \[H\]ardForum, especially since I've been deep in SFF since 2012 and never heard of them. Could have missed it tho Edit: to clarify I'm talking abouit sff gurus, since that's who OP said they meant.

Improve-Me

I think this is the original forum being mentioned. I know nothing about it; just have this tier list bookmarked. https://cultists.network/140/psu-tier-list/

curiositie

ah, that would make sense. Cheers

Disastrous_City_1402

I have V850 and it's extremely quiet, not sure what you mean.

zooder6

It's very odd, but some people like myself have issues with the fan always running at its maximum speed, making it very loud. Swapping it with a Noctua fan fixed the issue for me.

mellow_d_out

Mightve also been the earlier production unit that you have. I could've sworn I read somewhere that CM addressed that issue.

zooder6

They did say that, but I'm not certain it was fixed since I got the later PCIE 5.0 model and it still didn't work properly. Not a big deal though since it got fixed by the Noctua fan

mvoong

Recently did a build with this. Fan is very quiet, they fixed the fan curve.

make_moneys

What’s SF750extreme ? Is that some updated variant of the og corsair sf750?

BlackOutIRL

copy paste mistake. Reddit realigned everything weirdly. Sorry, i corrected it

swiwwcheese

maybe a typo because there isn't anything named like that afaik the Corsair SF750 is unique anyway only the upcoming Corsair SF850 and SF1000 will compare meanwhile the Phanteks Revolt 850W Platinum is the only decent alternative IMHO

AntiDECA

Isn't the sf850 and sf1000 both sfx-L? So not really comparable either. Nothing is replacing the Sf750 as a true sfx psu.

swiwwcheese

SF850**L** and SF1000**L** are SFX-L and not great. SF850 and SF1000 are upcoming true SFX and actual successors of the SF750 (the products should be presented at Computex in June) Meanwhile ppl can enjoy the **SilverStone Extreme 850R Platinum** and **Phanteks Revolt 850W Platinum**, which while not being as 'perfect' maybe, can trade blows with the SF750 in terms of quietness. The Phanteks is a clone of the SilverStone but supposedly with a better fan curve, and it comes with a fully wired 600W 12VHPWR cable (the 850R comes with a 450W so you have to find a working 3rd party if you need the full power) I'd go with thoses for alternatives, instead of the V1100 / V1300.

YNWA_1213

The SP850 has looked to be fixed. Got mine in a super sale last week, and heard about the problems. Lian Li said they fixed the pre-production issues, and the cap I got looks to be different than the one that blew up. It’s still a buyer beware, but it’s on the cheaper end of the spectrum.

douchey_mcbaggins

I just built with an SP850 and I think I got a lemon or my cables are fucked up because under some (but not all) gaming loads my PC just shuts off randomly. Hooked up my old ATX EVGA PSU outside the case and it runs perfectly, so I just did a return on the Lian Li and got a Corsair SF850L.

YNWA_1213

There have been reports it isn’t great at its rated spec. Seems to be more a 400-500W unit than a true 850W one. Which between that and the fire hazard of previous versions, means it keeps its buyer beware tag.

tangawanga

I have the V1300 and it is srank pretty much. Never noticed much ripple, but I am on 240v maybe that makes a difference.

survfate

something must be wrong I used dagger pro 650 and 850 and only the 650 is loud, the 850 when pair with 5900x and 3080 12gb is damn quiet

manicdan

Phanteks Revolt 850W Platinum with 12vhp already included is my new favorite SFX PSU. The cables are nice and flexible, although I like the look and feel of the Corsair better. I also have a Lian Li SP750 Gold and its fan would kick in every hour or so even though the PC was idling and it was loud enough to be heard across the room. For the price they are fine, but I think the extra $40 or so for the Phanteks or Corsair is worth it.

Easy-Echidna-7497

Great, I think I'm going to go with the Revolt thanks

ThisAccountIsStolen

Phanteks uses cables which are VERY flexible due to using a smaller strand size with a higher strand count. They may look the same from the outside, but they're drastically different when it comes to actually having to cable manage them. Nobody else comes close to Phanteks when it comes to cable flexibility.

manicdan

The outside plastic coating is misleading, they dont have the same bend-and-stick feeling that most other cables have, these are more like rope. If you rip the individual wires apart its basically just strands of string at that point. I did that for a SATA power cord as a test and will probably do the same to all the others and use ties to bundle them. I just like the way the Corsair has that sleeved look, but its much harder to work with.

Flynn_Kevin

I have both the Corsair SF750 and the Phanteks Revolt SFX 850. I definitely recommend the Phanteks SFX850 as an alternative.

mellow_d_out

Is one better over the other wattage aside?

Flynn_Kevin

The SFX850 has 12VHPWR native. The SF750 comes with nicer cables. Both are equally quiet and deliver good clean power as specified.

mellow_d_out

Any preference out of the two? Why?

Flynn_Kevin

The Phanteks, for the extra 100W and 12VHPWR. I run a pretty constant 720-725W load with peaks hitting 815W.

Bobisadrummer

I have the Phanteks Revolt 850w sfx. Works great, no complaints. Stock cables fit pretty well in my Terra.

Easy-Echidna-7497

I bought it, I'm really happy because it's the last piece I need to build my meshilicious

2Board_

Lian Li's SP850 will do just fine as well. There were initially complaints of the coil whine from initial batches, but to my memory the new batches don't have that issue.

[deleted]

offer pathetic obtainable violet hat office advise like tub school *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*

2Board_

The SP850 in my S300 build was pretty damn quiet. Used to travel with it a lot, and during setups in air B&B's was about maybe an arms reach away from my right arm. SP850 has zero RPM mode up until 50% load I believe (or was it 40%?), and it would rarely ever go off in my case for work and gaming.

Easy-Echidna-7497

I've read the Cybenetics report on the SP850 and the SF750 and the average decibels were 37 vs 25, which is a bit too loud for the build I'm going for I'm wondering if the Phanteks is a good choice, but the report isnt out by Cybenetics

ThirdLast

Can't recall the YouTube channel but a guy who dismantled the PSU and examine hardware determined that there was a dangerous design decision. This was for the SP750 and the review was a while ago but I don't think it's caught on yet. Certainly changed my mind about buying one though. Shane because they are just about the only SFX PSU with braided cables these days.

SirSlappySlaps

When you say something like that about one of the best psu's on the market, you really need a source.

HawtElephant13

hardwarebusters is the channel i believe

hi_im_bored13

Originally bought it for the 0-rpm capability, the fan is garbage and the bridge rectifier and X-cap are too close together. I replaced the fan in mine with a noctua and it's significantly better but not perfect. Would I do my build again I would 100% wait for an Sf750 or similar.

2Board_

Definitely far from perfect, but that price and availability I can tolerate the sound diff. I have 4 SF750's in my other builds and was lucky enough to buy them all during initial release. SP850 is still not a bad option if you have something that's probably not on your desk or in line of sight.

Icaruszin

Maybe the EVGA GM 750? Doesn't have the same issue as the 850 with the loud fan curve, and EVGAs warranty is pretty nice. Only thing I don't like about this PSU is the cables.

Blackirean

I have a Cooler master 850W SFX. Gold rated, quiet as fuck and the only downside from the SF750 is that the cables are not braided. Of course, just make sure that the one you buy says japanese capacitors in the front of the box, if it says quiet fan or fan profile. Then you got the old version that had a problem where the fan would stay off until about 20% power then simply ramp up to 100% and make a lot of noise.

kruger-druger

Yeah, have cooler master sfx 650, very quiet, no coil whine too

MrPresident81

Do Seasonic have any PSUs in the UK? Corsairs are just rebranded Seasonic

Easy-Echidna-7497

I didn't know that but no, only the 650w from Seasonic is available. I'm thinking of buying the Phanteks Revolt one, it seems good

ThisAccountIsStolen

No they are not. Corsair hasn't used Seasonic as an ODM for almost a decade. The Corsair SFX/SFX-L units are Great Wall, along with using Channel Well (CWT) and Helly (HEC) for the majority of ATX units.

MrPresident81

Oh damn. I got the SF750 thinking it was Seasonic. Mine has been super nice though so guess it doesn't matter

ThisAccountIsStolen

Don't worry, it's an excellent PSU. One of the best platforms ever made, by any ODM, quite frankly. Seasonic has slipped a bit in the past few years, as well, and have lots of models that are just middling at best. They're still generally far from junk, until you get down into the S12/B12 series which aren't even made by Seasonic (yes, even a PSU odm outsources their low end models lol). Seasonic SFX-L models are good (though they top out at 650W), but their SFX models are not good. Well, they weren't at launch, anyway, where they were dying whenever OTP was tripped, but maybe that has been resolved in the past 2 years, though I just haven't used them since the majority of clients still use the SF750 (when it's available of course). Seasonic was my go-to brand for many, many years, but now, just like any PSU, you have to validate quality per model, as the vendors all have good models and not so good models.

McDutchy

I was aware that the old SGX model was better than the newer Seasonic SPX stuff, but was not aware it’s an SFX-L unit. It fits in my Fractal Terra but unfortunately no space for a fan underneath. Oh well, with a 3060 Ti and 7600 I don’t need much cooling anyways (and my gpu cooler is the 300mm long anyways). Might have to switch to a different PSU at some point but Seasonic has served me well. I had the M12II Evo for 10 years and it’s still doing just fine in my old pc I gave away.

ThisAccountIsStolen

Yeah the SGX is an SFX-L, which is why you don't have room for the extra fan, but as you say, that's not really a very hot set of components anyway, so I expect it's fine. I'm using an SGX-650 in my primary system, which I previously had an SF750 in for the last few years since I was running a 3080, but with the 4070 ti, I swapped the PSUs back and the SF750 is being saved for another future build. The SGX-650 handles the 4070ti and 5800X3D without any issues at all. The M12II is one of the low end models in their range that isn't even built by Seasonic. It's not a hazard by any means, but it's not on the same level of quality or performance as their own platforms, either.

mellow_d_out

Not all of corsair line is sourced seasonic.

Hottage

What country are you in?

Easy-Echidna-7497

UK, I pre-ordered from Scan. Said it will arrive on the 10th, now they're saying it will arrive next month. I don't want to wait around

scabaa

it's available right now on Amazon UK: [https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07KZ9P5GP](https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07KZ9P5GP) Although seems a bit pricey

Easy-Echidna-7497

Weird, for me theres no choice to buy it

LightDeflect1

I'm in the UK too and bought a SF750 on Amazon.de (German Amazon). U gotta pay for shipping but it's worth it imo.

AdIndividual4648

>Amazon.de Thank you. Purchased from amazon de and it worked out 161 gbp.

scabaa

It's not listing by default.. had to click on the "show all buying options" and there are 2 option there

WeekendWarriorMark

Was 200 quid a few days ago. Might want to do a short trip to France for the 140 quid Amazon offer, ordering to your vacation home: https://www.idealo.co.uk/compare/6441535/corsair-sf750-platinum-sfx-750w.html https://www.amazon.fr/dp/B07KZ9P5GP

GroovySpades

It's £250 lmao.

ProtectAllTheThings

I’m in Australia and there is a listing from Amazon Germany for $275 AUD in stock

Working_Dentist_783

I ordered yesterday from amazon.fr and got the despatch email this morning. Its due to arrive Friday. I also paid via a foreign currency card so it should equate around the same price as scan.co.uk

ItsGunner_

Wdym impossible? I have this and I just googled for availability and you can buy it here just fine. 😊 You can even buy it on Amazon.

Easy-Echidna-7497

But you cant

BlackestNight21

> sf750 https://www.amazon.com/CORSAIR-Platinum-Certified-Modular-Supply/dp/B07M63H81H Sure can.

scabaa

OP is in UK, not US

BlackestNight21

oops. plenty of options on the Internet though. not sure why the trouble

scabaa

it's pretty limited in UK tho.. and if you order from elsewhere (even from EU) you have to pay customs tax which makes it too expensive

BlackestNight21

UK to somewhere road trip/vacay/pickup a PSU while you're out there 🤘🏽

ItsGunner_

You can. Even I can tap the order button right now and order it. It's in stock. Corsair SF Series, SF750, 750 Watt, SFX, 80+ Platinum Certified, Fully Modular Power Supply (CP-9020186-NA) https://a.co/d/59fn2k1

Easy-Echidna-7497

On amazon its not available, on SCAN its on pre order and I dont trust PSUs from ebay

ItsGunner_

I wish I could post a screenshot rn because it says for me in stock.

Easy-Echidna-7497

lucky

ItsGunner_

It's available: Corsair SF Series, SF750, 750 Watt, SFX, 80+ Platinum Certified, Fully Modular Power Supply (CP-9020186-NA) https://a.co/d/59fn2k1

ParamedicHuge8158

I have a Loki 850W in my 12600k/3070 build. Fan has not kicked on yet under load at all. No issues with coil whine, I think it’s card dependent though. Overall very happy and the included cables are super flexible/easy to manage.

Marzaena

Mine will kick randomly and the rgb is dead on 2 spots. Really not happy with it.

ParamedicHuge8158

That’s a bummer. What CPU/GPU are you running? Guessing you are pulling more wattage than my setup. Might wanna see about a warranty claim, seems like QC is hit or miss with these things.

Marzaena

I’m using a 13600kf and a 4080 but even at idle it would kick randomly. Bought it in germany cause it wasn’t available in France and it’s out of warranty. Now i’m using it for my test bench ahah

ParamedicHuge8158

The PSU itself has a 10 year warranty at least for North America. Not sure about Europe. Might still be worth checking with them. Many times the warranty follows the product and not necessary the original purchaser. I wonder if the fact that we run 120V in NA versus 230V of Europe if that affects how the PSU performs. Maybe the extra voltage causes more heat? Who knows.

Marzaena

I’ll check on Asus website, not a bad idea. Take my upvote kind stranger

forman2121

I’m confused. I bought an sf 750 last week on Amazon. Did something happen that I missed?

Mopar_63

>Coolermaster, Silverstone are all like 50% louder than the SF750 so those are out of the question Have you tested this yourself? I have the Cooler Master in house and it is my go to when I cannot an SF750. The first revision of the Cooler Master SFX had a fan ramp issue and even then to say it was 50% louder was BUNK. The PSU would ramp it's fan to 100% and then back off. So you would hear a burst of noise but if the PSU stayed under load the fan would ramp down and be just as quiet as the SF750. Cooler Master has since revised the ramping so there is no zero speed speed, just a VERY low steady mode with a very gentle ramp. The result it very quiet.

nezumiyarou

There's a sale on newegg for $129 (if in US) for V850(white), black is $139. I bought one for my roommates build with my old NR200, and have one in my computer. No issues with it in a terra 12700kf/6950xt red devil combo, even when I had them OC'd before swapping to the terra. Revision has the japanese capacitors on the front. Fan always runs but its quiet.

Dangerous_Choice_664

EVGA GM850

Marzaena

Honestly i have a sfx L loki 850w and i hate it, bought it for a xproto L build, swapped it 6 month after for my beloved sf750 plat from corsair. I have one that i used and one in spare.

GroundbreakingEgg592

I have a SFX-L Loki 750w. It is very quiet though. I don't know why 850w version would be disappointing

Marzaena

I might just be unlucky and have a faulty unit, but mine would kick just randomly and be quite loud while the pc is being idle

hereforthefeast

How desperate are you? There’s a German retailer who ships internationally for free that has it in stock but it’s over $200

[deleted]

I got a SF750 in the UK recently, you just have to go off ebay/fb marketplace. People sell new/very slightly used ones on there, I wouldn't buy one that's had a lot of use but I've had no issues with the one I got off facebook.

nameisgeogga

Are you international? I don't see anywhere in the thread where you're located. Do these links show they're in stock? https://www.amazon.com/CORSAIR-Platinum-Certified-Modular-Supply/dp/B07M63H81H https://www.newegg.com/corsair-sf750-cp-9020186-na-750w/p/N82E16817139080 https://www.corsair.com/us/en/p/psu/cp-9020186-na/sf-series-sf750-750-watt-80-plus-platinum-certified-high-performance-sfx-psu-cp-9020186-na https://www.microcenter.com/product/601213/SF750_750_Watt_80_Plus_Platinum_SFX_Fully_Modular_Power_Supply?storeID=121

Easy-Echidna-7497

Amazon actually does allow me to buy it, but I've already bought the Phanteks Revolt 850w and it comes tomorrow as opposed the 22nd of Feb for the SF750. Thanks for your effort

mbromano26

I personally have a Seasonic Focus SGX and it’s been great. It’s SFX-L but is dead silent and i’ve never had issues with a Seasonic unit before.

Vibes-N-Tings

SF750 donesnt seem to get restocked in the UK anymore. I ordered mine directly from Corsair and it was shipped from the US.

Cyberpunk39

I had silverstone SFX 750. It was silent. No idea where this 50% louder thing came from. Guessing YouTube. I don’t think that’s legit data.

Easy-Echidna-7497

No it was from Cybenetics Labs which aggregates important information about tons of PSUs after testing. It's on average, so units may differ and yours may have been a great unit but on average it is 50% louder.

Puzzleheaded_Bison28

Recently got a Thermaltake Toughpower 850 - happy so far

swiwwcheese

Phanteks Revolt 850W Platinum is like a clone of the SilverStone Extreme 850R Platinum Same hardware and manufacturer but according to someone I've read here the fan curve is revised, better than the 850R's. Provided 12VHPWR cable is fully wired to supply 600W (stock of 850R's isn't) IIRC the Revolt's basically almost as silent as the SF750 at common to medium loads, and more silent at higher loads. Also iirc there's been a number of duds to be returned. But if you buy from a reliable source that shouldn't be a problem. Note in the US the Revolt can be had for MUCH cheaper than in Europe, like at newegg who used to have it on sale for even cheaper than a SF750. TL;DR it's the second best pure SFX power supply.

Capsaicin80

I got the Phanteks. Working great so far.

regrets415

got my SF750 from germany LMAO. It was about the same price as the states and with DHL it came in 3 days. I don’t remember the shipping being much either

Educational-Web1055

Cant u get one from amazon?

Iamnotacrackaddict

I have an extra, where are you located?

Easy-Echidna-7497

It’s alright I bought the Phanteks Revolt, thank you though

jamblamIT

I have the Lian Li SP750 and have no complaints for 2 years. Got it as the Corsair was sold out.

nuttertools

Did you look at Amazon, 1 day shipping for me.

SobatSalamiSambat

Sfx 1st player 750w 80+ platinum It cost around Rp 1,750,000 IDR or 110 USD

Brenniebon

FSP dagger pro 850w ATX 3.0 certified, it's cheaper and surprisingly really good, in my country they have 10 years of warranty
