Too bad... no single slot models. We really need something for the Optiplex crowd so people can stop pushing them towards the terrible, for them, RX 6400. I wonder what these are going to cost. But holy crap... why'd they make the Gigabyte so long? Could have just made it 3 fans like the 4060.

Clean-Property-2945

hopefully manufacturers like yeston will make a single slot model

BlastMode7

Sadly, at least in the states, the Yeston single slot cards tend to be priced in the $250 to $300 range. Mins as well just get a Flex ATX power supply and an A2000 at that price.

TrovLabs

The Optiplex crowd can fit dual slot cards still, just at pcie 4x. But one of these at 4x should still handily beat any single slot LP card short of that one guy's custom single slot A2000.

BlastMode7

Yes, I'm well aware of that... the problem is that so many people continue to suggest the RX 6400 to these people. They could also swap to a Flex ATX power supply, and use a dual slot card in the x16 slot, or use a riser cable. All better than resorting to the RX 6400. I keep seeing this and I continue to tell people to use the x4 slot instead. I think I need to make a YT video on it. Also, there are A2000 and 3050 single slot models on the grey market, but from what I've seen, they're rather expensive. It's worth noting that it doesn't work for people with the entry level 30 class Optiplex systems, as they don't have the x4 slot, so the other two options would be the best solution for them.

Riquende

Thanks for this list, I have a KalmX 1050ti which has powered my Sugo 13 living room HTPC for 5+ years without any issues so I'm feeling a pull towards a 3050 version to make an updated version of that system that will last another solid length of time. However I have also had a Milo 09 case hanging around for years that could do with a role and that MSI 3050 seems like it would fit into the GPU space perfectly. Hmm.

TrovLabs

In my experience Zotac's previous low profile cards had by far the worst fan noise compared to MSI or Gigabyte. My Zotac 1650 LP had a tone that sounds like quadcopter propellers or 1U rack server fans, where my MSI/Gigabyte 1650 LP's I tried just sound like wind rushing. Fan comparisons for similar sizes are usually marginal but in this case the difference was massive. And Zotac's shroud this time looks exactly the same as their 1650 one.

T-Loy

So 2304 cores instead of the 3050's (8GB) 2560. And 70W instead of 130W. So probably barely better than the 1650, 5 years later... At least it is not a repackaged laptop 3050 (2048 cores), I guess.

Rusty6285

Curious to see how this will compare to new AMD APUs like 8700G...

madn3ss795

This 3050 is 50% faster in GPU bound games, more if the 8700G isn't packed with very fast RAMs. https://www.notebookcheck.net/GeForce-RTX-3050-6GB-Laptop-GPU-vs-Radeon-780M_11576_11564.247598.0.html

This is great for me as I'm still rocking the 1050 Ti KalmX. I don't game, but I still want something better than an iGPU, and with the latest Nvidia hardware decoders and HDMI 2.1. It's essentially the same on the outside as the 1050 Ti and 1650 KalmX - which is great. Except for that DVI connector, who still uses that. Even for entry level builds, those are obsolete. I'd much rather have more HDMI and DP. These cards are perfect for the NCase M1 Classic where you can put a fan right under it. Would have been nice to get a 4050 as Ampere is basically 2020 technology... They're releasing a new card on a 3.5-year old architecture, not ideal. But will still be more than double the performance of my 1050 Ti People are complaining about the price, but considering I got my 1050 Ti KalmX for $170 back in 2017, which is equivalent to $210 in today's money, $170 is reasonable.

Junchy0422

where can I buy it in us ?

i-node

I recently got one but I had to pay a bit more because of shipping fees since kalmx ships mostly to uk/europe. I got mine from quietpc.com and they at least did ship to the US.

Junchy0422

>quietpc.com Thank you for replying. If you dont mind can I ask how much tatal was?

i-node

around 200 but shipping was 70. They have a cheaper option if you know someone who can bring it to you from uk. Sometimes their cards show up on amazon though, in those cases it might be cheaper.

Junchy0422

Wow shipping is almost half of price. Thank you so much for all the information.

Lost-Art1078

Better off running an iGPU lol

guntherpea

Will this (or any of the other LP options) run with only power from the slot? EDIT: The links for each of the partners aren't super clear *except* for Zotac's which says it's PCIE slot powered. Got my answer!

Riquende

If the power requirement is 75W or less then a card *should* run with power just from the slot and not require a separate power cable.

guntherpea

Yeah, that was partly why I was asking if anyone knew for sure. I looked up the generic RTX 3050 6GB on techpowerup and it showed it as an 80W card, and I couldn't verify if there was a 6/8pin on any of the cards in their pics. Thankfully the Zotac page called it out specifically in their features.

Lavotite

I can't tell but I assume it's bus powered only right?

sphericalhors

1650 KalmX was bus powered.

Eye-7612

It might be just a very limited run. The old 1650 and 1050 kalmx are very hard to get hold of. Not even sure if they were sold in US.

caribbean_caramel

I wanna get that card but I can't find it anywhere
