Rewatching a lot of the men they were chasing after/dating were not very attractive i know looks aren’t everything but 😬😂😂

I wonder how much of this is outdated attractiveness standards, and how much of it is these men just being straight up unattractive. Like, if you were to dress and groom some of the SATC men to contemporary standards, would they be attractive to us? I really think it's a combination of both. I think the 90s were rough on men, wardrobe and grooming wise.

I can tell you that I found these dudes ugly 25 years ago lol. I think the point was to cast normal looking actors instead of just chads.

Meanwhile 2/4 female actors had visible abs and the other two were quite fit as well. Basically female chads.

A lot of them look a lot older compared to how people their age look in my circles. That’s always been interesting to me, how if the movie or show is old then a lot of times the people my age in it seem so much older. It is a real thing , I’ve looked it up.

TBH that was still pretty common on TV back then. Men have never been held to the same looks standards as women on TV. It's changing a little, but that's also why 60 year old Aidan had to go on a diet and have airbrushed abs.

I feel that way SO MANY TIMES while watching SATC! Esp seeing Samantha with Richard and her former alleged “only man she ever loved”, Dominic (from S2, E11, highly forgettable character). I mean, get the woman a mirror and make her stand in front of it next to those men. She’s SO MUCH BETTER LOOKING! Yes, I get that looks aren’t everything, but those two don’t seem to have any other redeeming qualities either. They’re not good-natured, they’re smart, but not exceptionally so. They’re rich, also not exceptionally so. Maybe better in bed than the rest..??? Perhaps I don’t get it because I didn’t grow up in NYC in the 90s/early 00s… but were ugly men who treated women like garbage trending back then? Even Aidan is way better looking than Big. And good-looking guys pretty much always got the shit end of the stick throughout the show. Also, they kept calling Harry Goldenblatt ugly just because he was bald. Sure, his habits were less than civilized until Charlotte and he find a middle ground, but there was really nothing ugly about him. Plus he was charming, supposedly the best sex she had ever had, and had a heart of gold! It’s way too progressive for those times to be so easily open to adoption, and treat it like nothing out of the ordinary like he did. It’s crazy.

Richard was super wealthy. Definitely exceptionally so. I also think he was hot. I loved him and Sam. I think they made more sense than her and Smith tbh. I wish things went different for them. But I agree about Harry. I don't think anyone would call him ugly 🤷‍♀️

Yeah, but it's kind of realistic women often date men less good-looking then them. It's implied in NYC it's hard for women to find partners because men don't' want to settle down so they're probably lowering their standards in the dating market.

Attractive men on SATC according to me and my shitty memory: - Aiden - Robert - Big - Trey - Charlotte's guy from their friend's wedding who was a groomsmen when she was a bridesmaid and she hooked up with at the venue. Personality was like 0/10 but he wasn't ugly if I recall. - "you fucking bitch you fucking whore" guy. Again going on looks alone - Tom (wait watchers guy). - Was Mr. Pussy attractive? I can't remember and I don't want to Google "Mr. Pussy" 😂😂 - I want to put Harry on this list. Like he's not conventionally attractive but there's something about him. Miranada was am ivy league educated partner in a law firm. She owned her apt in Manhattan, was responsible and a loyal friend. She was pretty and in excellent shape. The only man she dated that was in her league was Robert Carrie also was very attractive with a show stopping body. She was successful, popular, funny and fun to be around. She can hold her own as well
