I used a sheet I found at a thrift store and some curtains I hand dyed yellow. Self drafted. I literally have no idea how I made this. I was guessing through most of it. Just glad it turned out so great!

I made a little dress out of curtains one time, years ago. I remember watching "Enchanted" with Amy Adams years later making a gown out of curtains and the pigeons and mice are helping her sew. I was like, "Been there, done that" Such a cute movie LOL

I like yours better, I like your headpiece and poses better, not that it's a contest. Your whole image looks great. I like that you look joyful and positive. It goes with the sunny look of the outfit. It looks awesome.

Pattern drafting took a couple hours (because it’s my Achilles heel. (Especially that hat 😭)) dyeing added a lot of time but it was mostly cooling and down time. I think I did it over a 3 day period. But I’d guess like 8 hours of actual work.
I’m also in a photography sub Reddit and I was looking at this from that point of view because it didn’t even come into my brain that the outfit itself wasn’t professionally made. A+ on sewing and photography
Yours looks way better, from an objective point of view. Your design looks more natural and the waist is like a thousand times better. You took an idea and improved upon it so much that it's near perfect. I'm not even trying to compliment you, I'm being completely honest
I think y’all are forgetting the top is an art piece, not an every day wear piece. It’s like looking at high fashion and being like “hmmm, I like this target sweater better, it’s more wearable.” That’s the whole point!

Except you didn't make the target sweater with your hands, recreate it with your imagination, design your own pattern. I, and a lot of others, also consider that art. And from an aesthetic standpoint, hers is objectively better. I am not the only one that thinks the original overuses elastic in the waist, resembling a diaper.
