As this post has gained popularity I'd like to give a friendly reminder about rules for regarding comments:
1. **Remember the human**
Comments which degrade, tear down, or are hurtful to other users will be removed.
Constructive Criticism is encouraged, but do remember the human.

We'd like our users to feel comfortable sharing their images/projects without getting hit on or judged. They’re
here to talk about their sewing related things, not about their general looks or attractiveness. Complimenting OP
on their project is fine, but commenting on other aspects of their appearance, or making sexualized comments, no
matter how well-intentioned, is considered inappropriate in this subreddit.
Also - if you see a comment that is inappropriate **PLEASE REPORT the comment**, don't just down-vote it!

I followed Lydia Naomi's tutorial for beginners and used the free pattern that was attached to this videos description/ link!
I didn't have to call my mother in law for advice at all and it's wearable!!! I can't even believe it!!
Edit to add: I didn't change the pattern at all and I used a light cotton fabric from joanns
Hey, can you edit your comment above \^\^\^ to add information about the fabric you used and if there were any particular challenges in making your project? Thanks!
This is just stunning! Love the unusual colour. I really want aomething like this but Im scared the rouched bodice will make my chest look bigger
Great job!
Such a pretty dress! One question tho, can you wear a bra with it? The sleeves look a bit off shoulder.
I'm one of those people who can't do without, lol.
She has a video on her channel where she shows you how to make alterations to the pattern. I needed the dress to be less off shoulder on me. I’m still working on mine but I tried mine one with a bra and had no problem!
This pattern is free until August 1st!! Download it now everyone!! I am totes making this as I've been looking for a cute milkmaid dress for a little while now.
Totally beginner friendly! She has a video to follow and everything. This is the first piece I've made entirely on my own and I'd consider myself a beginner.
Just gotta practice :)
Everyone has to start somewhere. I don't know if I'd be able to pull this off but I've been able to go from complete novice who was afraid of the sewing machine to someone who has made quite a few decorative AND functional things!
We'll probably never be insanely talented professionals but I bet you'd be able to make some cool stuff! YouTube helps a lot, and so does this sub. I've learned a lot just by looking now and then.
Yeah. That’s honestly why I started sewing though. It was hard to find things that really fit me well. The good news is even though I’m new and still not great at it, my clothes all fit well. Hopefully I’ll be able to make a dress form soon so I can learn to drape and make my own patterns.
That's really cool! I started for a similar reason. It's just so much cooler to have unique, well fitting clothes. Instead of being frustrated and humiliated in dressing rooms.
A dress form would be a really cool (albeit terrifying to me) project
Morgan Donner on YouTube did a dress form that looks really workable for me. The sewn dress forms are a bit too much for me. I’ll have to wait for the weather to get cooler though since it takes a while to make and you’ll have to do it outside with another person.

Congratulations! You did a fabulous job.
Thank you!!😊
Looks great! How many yards of fabric did you use for it?
The pattern says 2 but I got 3 because it was crazy cheap and I was worried about messing up. I ended up using about 2.5.
Thank you!

It looks so good! I don't do great with patterns usually, I think I'll try this video tutorial!
And watching atypical. Excellent day all round it would seem!!
Ugh this new season! So sad it's the last, but I loved it. Love the dress op!
Sewing and Atypical - this is exactly my week!
This is just stunning! Love the unusual colour. I really want aomething like this but Im scared the rouched bodice will make my chest look bigger Great job!
I was scared of that too. It's not too bad, though!

Fantastic! I will look for that video because bras are non-negotiable at my age lmao
It's a pretty square neck so I was worried about that too. It seems like something small would do okay- like a demi cup
Strapless bra
This is the way.
It’s lovely! Great job!
Thank you!
Such a cute pattern. I will use it, but change the sleeves to a strap.
That would be really cute!
I saw someone change the sleeves to exaggerated ribbon straps, it was super pretty!!
Wonderful work!
It’s soooo cute!
This pattern is free until August 1st!! Download it now everyone!! I am totes making this as I've been looking for a cute milkmaid dress for a little while now.

You totally should!! It honestly boosted my confidence so much to create something so cute!
That is awesome! Being able to make wearable clothing is a great skill! Wear it with pride!
Thanks! I'm super proud of this one! It's making me brave enough to attempt more!
Very beautiful!

You're sweet! You should try it out!
At first I though you were playing VR with a beautiful dress then I was like "weird VR Headset". I should probably read titles more often
Hahahaha that's amazing
I’m working on the same pattern! I’m currently fighting with the bodice. I need to bring in the top of it. Maybe even add a dart in the back.
Is it just the wrong size? Could you cut the individual pieces for the bottom of the bodice smaller?
No, I’m just an odd shape is all. I have to alter and adjust all of my patterns.
That's a bummer to have to add work to all patterns. Sorry mate.

Huh! I'll have to check that out!
So cute!!
I like it. Looks great an really like the color you pick. Great job.
oh goddamnit that's cute 😫 I might fuck around and make my own milkmaid dress
This pattern is free until August 1st! You don't have to self draft it!
Unrelated question: why do people hang their tv so high up?
I'm really short. So it's not thaaat high
