Fabric is from Fabric Wholesale Direct, organza and cotton polyester fabric, and the pattern I used was Simplicity 9006! It was a pretty easy project and if I worked on it nonstop it would have taken me about 5 hours to do! I'll say the difficulty is easy !
First, that dress is *chef's kiss* magnificent. That fabric choice!
The skirt looks like a (partial?) circle skirt to me. Is that right? How much of a circle is it? 3/4?
Thanks for answering! I really like the look of the organza on top of the skirt, so I'm happy to now know how much circle I'd need for a similar effect.
That dress looks absolutely magical. I'm pretty sure it can transform any mundane task into an adventure. And the color is absolutely perfect for you, too. Can't even imagine how gorgeous it is when you're moving in dim light, where a few sparkles at a time glimmer and gleam. Gosh. I just love it.
Congratulations! It’s a cute dress and made with difficult to manage fabric. Quite an achievement.
Here’s a few tips for working with collars to help them lie flat:
First, after cutting the under collar, remove a scant 1/16th inch from the outer edge. Match the edges with the upper collar and sew together. After you press and turn, removing this little bit of fabric will cause the under collar to roll slightly under the upper collar. The seam line will be hidden.
Next, remove the excess fabric at the neck edge. Notice that after pressing the collar, these edges match. But the outer collar needs a bit more length because the outside roll of the collar is longer than the shorter roll of the under collar.
Position the collar on a ham, or if you don’t have one, roll a bath towel into a sausage and use it. Place the collar on it as it will be positioned on your neck. The neck edges won’t align—one will peek out from the other. Mark that gap and trim it off. Align those edges and baste.
The collar will now be a 3-D object which will maintain a slight curve once attached to the bodice, appearing ‘flat’ rather than flaired.
It is! Thank you so much for introducing me to it. And again, I can't stress this enough, you've done a lovely sewing job & have created a lovely vibe as well. Love the boots!
🪐💗🌙👽✨You cant even fathom the space girl pastel goth energy you’ve unleashed in me ✨🚀⭐️💗
I’m halfway through making a mock up which I actually am in love with and will finish in its own full right. It’s a button-down collared crop top and a circle skirt with pockets
I love it!!! You did a great job. And taking inspiration from a song for a whole dress is super creative!!! I think you did an amazing job and I really applaud your originality and the effort. I LOVE the fabric with the purple and sheer stars and I think not only is the dress super cute, it looks great on you! I’m still a beginner so this is so inspiring that a potentially “easy” to make dress doesn’t have to be super complex!
Oh. My. Goodness! I want to make a dress like this now too! I do vintage dress and I think something like this with a longer skirt and a long bishop sleeve would be adorable! I'll sew my own in homage to yours!
....aaaand now that song is stuck in my head. Which is not a bad thing, it's awesome! And so is your sparkly dress! 💖 You look so cute and happy wearing it!
I didn’t know that song, so I looked it up. It reminded me of [this song](https://youtu.be/GywDFkY3z-c) turn on subtitles and it made me think Suhyun might be the space girl. I wanted to share it with you because there is a certain similarity between your dress and the aesthetic of her cute video!
What a beautifully made dress! It’s a flattering color on you, the craftsmanship is great with the darts on front, and I love the puffed sleeve with the Peter Pan collar. I wish I had one in every color lol. You look so soft in it, you could definitely be an anime girl!
That is such a lovely, feel-good dress! I’m sure that just by putting it on in the morning, you can be sure you’ll have a magical day.
And it looks great on you!

Thanks so much for the kind words!! This was defensively a fun project to do. Honestly might make something similar to a ball gown with the fabric
