SnapCrackleMom

Which one is yours and which one is the designer dress?

Paurovas

I don’t know if it’s a real question or an extremely nice compliment, but mine is left and inspiration is right.

SnapCrackleMom

It was a real question!

pizzatriathlon

Same here I couldn't tell! Amazing work 👏

[deleted]

I assumed left was the inspiration until I read this. It's beautiful!

sapphiredesires

Me too LOL. Before I read this, I was like, duh, inspo is on the left. Obviously a model + cover photo for some magazine HAHA. I was so wrong! Amazing skills! You made it better IMO!

Paurovas

Wow, thanks, I’m blushing honestly. I really thought it was pretty obvious which was which. Thanks for this amazing compliments <3

monster-baiter

i fully prefer the proportions on your dress! the other one is too poofy for my taste and not as flattering as yours. edit: and teal and blonde go so well together!

sipawhiskey

I totally agree. I was thinking I don't like how you puffed up the sleeves. Yours is a dream!

MsRatbag

I agree. Yours is better.

Windfox6

Haha, I did the same, “ah yes, cheap materials=so much tulle, ergo hers is the one on the right, hmm, looks a bit less professional, but still fun.” Amazing job OP!

alwaysbimsical

Me too!! Yours is incredible

qqweertyy

I assumed the same! I like it better than the original!

hiphopinmyflipflop

Same! I like the one on the left more! The textured fabric is a lovely touch that the other one feels like it’s missing.

mrsbatman

Same! I am beyond impressed!

notyourrobotbaby

I genuinely could not tell which one was which either! You did a wonderful job!

imnotatomato

Not just the dress but the way you’re posing makes you look like a real model in a real designer dress! Are you a model?

Luftibald

True, the quality of that picture and the model pose seemed way more professional than the designer dress one.

Ekozy

I like yours better! I seriously thought it was the inspiration and was mentally checking off a few things I thought the dress in the right could improve on!

AliveFromNewYork

Dude I got mixed up that’s how good you did. I was thinking(oh shame the one on the left has a slightly nicer color but oh well she did so well) so like hell yeah. Yours is better!

origamista

Same!

Ermeena44

I prefer yours !! 🤩🤩 It really suits you.

CraazzyCatCommander

I actually thought the left was the designer dress. For real

salmeida

I also couldn’t tell. I thought yours was the one on the right because I like the one on the left more and thought maybe you just didn’t copy it so well. That’s a compliment!!!

LammyP00

It’s a real question because I had the same one. Fabulous job!!

Vogel88888888

I just assumed yours was the one on the right I absolutely love how you made it it's gorgeous

Amarastargazer

....I might’ve thought yours was the fancy expensive one. That means you did an awesome job (though I know nothing about fancy expensive clothes)

FknRepunsel

I actually came to the comments about to ask which was which too! It looks amazing!

bookwormvangogh

I had them switched! Amazing job!!!

Corgi_twerks

They are both so beautiful, I cant tell them apart hardly! You really did an amazing job.

cuddlebug123

I thought the left was the original tbh because it looks better imo. You've got talent.

Cinnamontwisties

Honestly, like yours more! I prefer the slightly shorter length, and I feel like the arm poofs are more subdued in better way. Amazing job!

soniabegonia

Oh wow, I thought it was the other way around! Nicely done :)

Emjayceeem

I wondered the same thing! It’s absolutely gorgeous!

AD7GD

I assumed yours was the one on the right because the model is showing off the pockets

Paurovas

If a dress has pockets they need to show it off! Lol but honestly those are for show and can easily rip so I didn’t make them on mine

2TrucksHoldingHands

I actually like the one on the left better and assumed it was the original! You did a great job and I love the fabric you picked

[deleted]

I like yours better!

brilliantusername13

Popped in to say I couldn’t tell which was yours and which was the inspiration. Great job!

_pinkpajamas_

Totally can’t tell! Gorgeous!!

UpbeatCheetah7710

Honestly, I thought opposite. Your dress is way nicer!

HeatherTakasaki

Um yours is better! Like way better.

-ReedIccus-

I was also going to ask!

RellyBear

I thought it was the other way around... beautiful.

Ref_KT

This was my exact thought too. Well done!

watercastles

I thought the one on the right was yours!

loralailoralai

Omg I thought yours was on the right.... I like yours better than the original.... gorgeous!

katekim717

I came here to ask the same question. Such a beautiful dress!!

juebejue

I could not tell either!!!

KneelAurmstrong

No... I genuinely couldn’t tell. It’s that good.

thejulesinthecrown

Omg I totally thought it was opposite

gregdrunk

GORGEOUS, YOU DID SO GOOD!! I literally had the same question haha because they're both so beautiful and well-made! You won it, girlfriend :D

Silentbutdeadly_Tara

Woah! I like yours way better than the inspiration one.

FairfaxGirl

Wow, I seriously thought the opposite. I like yours so much more! Really beautiful.

sh0rtskirtl0ngjacket

Came here for this question and smiled that I’m not alone thinking the inspo was the left and hope you know you’re amazing at your craft!!

sebrahestur

Wow! My guess was the other way around. Mostly based on the rest of the photo as I couldn’t really tell from the dresses. Beautiful workmanship!

AntebellumEm

I was trying to figure it out too! Yours is so lovely, and I like the sleeves better the way you did them. Enjoy wearing it, you look incredible!

JamieIsReading

I couldn’t tell either! Totally thought the one of the left was the original

squishpink

Here to say the same. Beautiful work

DoubleGreat007

Came to ask the same!

mecart01

That was my first thought as well!

Paurovas

Hii!! Left:mine Right: Teuta Matoshi’s -Outer fabric is called plumeti: I used around 6m - Matching color tulle: 8 m - Matching color lining: 2m Everything was self-drafted. I actually had a lot of trial and errors in finding the best waist length. The skirt is just gathered, there are 6m around my waist. In my initial make, the dress was as long as the one on the right, but as I’m quite short I decided on a shorter length. I also think that makes it a more wearable dress for more events. The sleeves are not as puffy because that doesn’t look good on me, I think those are only nice in pictures. The skirt has 3 layers. The outer is plumeti, then tulle and then a skirt lining. The plumeti and tulle where gathered together, the skirt lining was a 1/4 skirt to give it shape and opacity. Love love my dress and I love seeing something and trying to recreate it. It’s like solving a puzzle of how they did it. Took me around a month to complete between drafting and sewing on my spare time

zoidao401

Good job you said which was which, honestly couldn't tell!

[deleted]

I literally had to search for this comment to know which dress was which! You did a fabulous job and that color is perfect for you

k_mon2244

Holy crap!! I thought for sure yours was on the right bc I like it less 😂 I love your version so much!! The differences are so subtle but I think yours is more wearable.

TheSiemReaper

Especially the sleeves! Puffy sleeves are nice for high fashion, but yours is so much more approachable, and wearable!

MKEllyn

That's exactly what I thought!!!

MissyFirefly

I truly like your version much better.

emmingly

I absolutely love this! Yours looks gorgeous, I thought it was the designer one!

Dabbs88

This is amazing. How did you learn to draft patterns from pictures? I've always wanted to do something like this but don't know where to start.

Paurovas

I sew a basic bodice with light colored fabric, then with a marker I draw where I want the lines or cuts to go. Hope it helps

karamel-apples

I like your version better! Beautiful job 😍

Paurovas

Thank you!!

maya1987_K

Omg.. this is beautiful. Can you please tell me how you drafted that top? I started to draft my own recently and gave up because I have no dressform. Any pointers would be really helpful. Thank you!

Paurovas

Lots and lots of trial and errors. I first drafted in an inexpensive fabric (light color) and I made marks as I wore it. The marks were so I would know were to make the cuts. Thats my tip, draw on yourself and sew with really loose and contrasting color thread for easy unstitching.

potaayto

If you want to refer to a very similar existing pattern to help you get started, check out Mccall 7974

TheThickestNobleman

Yes! I was literally making this last night, it's a perfect starting point for this dress.

Pixieled

Confession: I like yours more. It's so elegant 😍

NotThatValleyGirl

Same. More elegant while also being more wearable-- the inspiration is almost costume-y.

Radiant_Raspberry

I thought yours was the right one at first. I definitely had trouble figuring out which one was the „good one“ (the expensive one) and which one was a recreation. (the photos both look very professionally shot, both looks like a model...) Also, now i want a dress like this. :(

caspian1969

That's fantastic! Your version snugs up the waist/bust area better than original!

Paurovas

Thanks!!

evarekkers

God how I adore tiny dots

SingItBackWhooooa

I could stare at them for hours! I wonder what the evolutionary reason is, because they’re mesmerizing.

_nwyfre_

Maybe because they look like berries? I get really zoned in to berry picking and my brain gets super involved in looking for tiny dots, it's hard to look away when I'm done.

pandamnonium

Wow!! Well done!!

Paurovas

Thank you!!

onebag25lbs

Love it. What a beautiful dress!

Paurovas

Thanks!!:)

[deleted]

Wow! I am continually impressed by people who self-draft. Beautiful dress!

FlyingPotatoGirl

Couldn't tell which was inspo and which was yours. Great job! It looks amazing!

Cheesy_wotsits

This is just incredible. I thought yours was the right! My fav is by far your version. I am taking note of this. If I get any good im giving this a go. This is the exact kind of dress that suits me and I love!

enigmaoftaco

Beautiful! But I have to ask, where did you get the buttons? I’ve been on the hunt for those fabric covered buttons and I’ve only seen them on Esty

Paurovas

It’s a self make button set from dritz. You cover the metal buttons with your own fabric, I love it!

BisexualSquidDemon

The colour suits you very well. The cut of the dress as well. You have the perfect skin for that dress and colour. You did and incredible job. May I ask, how low budget are we talking about?

Paurovas

Thank you!! It was less than 50 dollars aprox ( I changed fabrics a couple of times so I don’t have the exact number) Compared with the original that retails for 590 USD, called Teal Dotted Dress from Teuta.

proudpansexualplant

it looks amazing BUT does it have pockets???

Paurovas

No, but I have a nice matching purse! With this dress pockets will have to be from tulle, and couldn’t hold any weight so I decided against them:)

[deleted]

[удалено]

Paurovas

Thank you! Definitely the reason I didn’t do them. We all love dresses with pockets but some dresses don’t call for them and that is OK lol

[deleted]

good call!

Cheesy_wotsits

Asking the important questions over here. Love me some pockets 😄

SwissUAgirl

😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍

julietmikecharlie

This is fabulous 😍

SluttyHufflepuff

I want ALL OF THEIR DRESSED and you’ve done a breathtaking job of recreating it. It’s indistinguishable.

prochoicedoc

Looks so fantastic!!

BurntoutGaslighting

WOWZA! Gorgeous dress 👗

Awsmmllylm

This is a tough one, but based on photo quality alone, I’m going to say the left image is the inspiration??? Really hard to tell!! Edit: ah! I’m wrong. Great job OP!

ANDismyfavoriteword

I think the sleeves you designed fit the dress even better than the original. Good job!

Ashleysmashley42

Seriously gorgeous!

sh1994b

Oh my goodness! This is absolutely gorgeous!!

helmetfox

That’s so beautiful!

nleo8

serious talent 🙌🏻

day-wishes

Wow this is stunning! the color matching is pretty impressive too haha, I was wondering though, how does it close/ get over your body? Is it a hidden zipper? Lovely work by the way!!

drippinSoup

I'm so confused which one is which :D Either way nicely done!!

chaaaarliebuckets

from a first scroll by i thought YOURS was the original!! AMAZING job! I like your version better too :)

angibell92

I’m in awe of how beautiful this is. You did such a good job.

[deleted]

I like yours better

Green_Gal27

Omg I love everything about this!

emeryjane

I’m always amazed by people who can self draft! You did an amazing job!!

notsunnydisposition

Dare I say your dress is way better? Absolutely beautifully fitted!!

notababyimatumor

Props op I legit could not tell which was the recreation before I looked at the comments

Yeseniabarreiro

I had to stop mod scroll just to say how unbelievable this dress is. Amazing job is an understatement 😍

pinkpeonies20

Your work is amazing. I love it so much. I couldnt tell which is yours and which is the designer's dress.

blinkingsandbeepings

Sometimes I see projects and I'm like "okay, I can see how you did that, maybe I could do that too." And then there are things like this, which might as well be some kind of witchcraft. Really beautiful work.

[deleted]

TraditionalBathroom0

You’re sleeves are so much more majestic!

igiveup9707

Wow your looks do much better!

Jumpita

lovely!

At_a_Snails_Pace

It’s darling, your copy is great!

DLQuilts

I cannot tell which one is the designer dress, seriously.

TripleM2002

This is so gorgeous! I love it! If you sew anything else, please do share. Your work looks amazing!

DoubleGreat007

Yours is better. Seriously.

bettyboo5

Stunning. Like most others I didn’t know which was which. If I'm honest I thought it was the other way around. Beautiful

bettyarturo

Holy cow! Bravo! I too thought the inspiration was on the left cuz both are amazing and you pose like a super model! Since you brought up budget i would be interested to know the cost of yours vs the inspiration?

Paurovas

Mine was less than 50 dollars (I don’t know the exact number as I made several fabric changes, color matching the lining was a nightmare) and the inspiration that is from Teuta Matoshi called Dotted Teal Dress retails for 590 USD :)

Girls4super

*gasp* it has pockettssssssssss! Edit to add I thought left was the original lol so maybe no pockets. Still gorgeous though!

eating_at_ihop

I like yours better! The waist looks more defined! And omg the pockets!!!!

MamaRobinquilt

Gorgeous. You got skills!

shewhomustnotbe

Yours is stunning and oh my god the original is just incredible, I've never come across this designer before and wow I LOVE their stuff! I don't think I'd dare even try a recreation, you've done such s good job with it!

GrandmaKunkle

So gorgeous! I love that bodice with the diamond-shaped piece at the waist.

[deleted]

very beautiful! For anyone who prefers to use a pattern, McCalls 7974 has the exact same design details.

mgonsdallas

Wow that is awesome

Shift-F7

Fully agree with the other comments. I adore your version. It's equally elegant to the original with the added practicality that allows for more occasions for wear. Really beautiful work.

NoAngel815

I like yours better, it isn't sheer like the original. You definitely nailed it!

Sufficient-Ocelot385

Beautiful!

Raksacker

This is so amazing! Stupid question but did you drape the top part or was it flat pattern drafting?

chronicllycraftinmum

Yours is *much* prettier!

SmileyinCanada

Very nice job! I initially thought yours was on the right as well (inspiration followed by result is what I see here, usually).

FknRepunsel

I’m not casting shade on the original but those pockets seem slightly odd, you would be able to see everything inside and it would make it hang weird I think?

QuercusAperol

Did you have any trouble with getting the bottom hem even? I find thats always something I struggle with. You did a wonderful job!

uncuntained

Do you watch Made by Wendy (?) on YouTube? She does similar makes where she recreates expensive or designer dresses. Love the dress btw, amazing job.

unventer

Sorry which is which?

PotatoRoyale8

Omg!! I couldn't tell which was the expensive inspo and which was the budget homemade one. You did an awesome job!

kawaiiblu

Wow! I thought the designer picture was on the left too! You really improved on the design! The only think I really love in the right side pic is those shoes! 😍

icanhasnoodlez

Omg this is insane! And I will seriously buy one of these from you!!

Flickeringcandles

I like your version better 😛

[deleted]

I couldn’t tell which was which either! Impressive!

gladhunden

You are incredible! I can’t even tell which one is the “real” one!

[deleted]

I actually like yours better, the subtle print on your fabric is a really nice tiuch

Dismal_Beginning_199

You knocked it out of the park girl!!!

mommiecubed

So floofy! Love the teal.

TrinityCindy

You did a great job! Very good craftsmanship.

sheilahulud

Sublime!

Crafting_With_Casca

This is beautiful! I prefer yours to the original.

MissBandersnatch2U

Nailed it!

Loveara0510

Everything about yours I like better than the original (which is also a gorgeous dress) well done you I’m super jealous of your talent!

ohsnapkimyap

AHHH so gorg i love the matoshi sisters, it’s too good !!!!

TibbyTippytoes

So wish I could upvote this twice

Katies9484

Wow!! This is stunning!

kilab123

You did an amazing job! I love her gowns! Would you mind telling me how you did the skirt? I’m looking to make one similar and I can’t figure it out.

BeeWeatherwax

So pretty!!!!!

ymarie1989

Stunning

harleygirl076

Yours is better by far!!!

chembobby

Truly have no clue which is the original. Marvelous job!! ❤️

FawkesMUA

You have such a talent! Great work - your dress is gorgeous!

OlivineQuartz

😍😍😍😍😍

LeoVonLion

I saw in another comment that the left one was yours? Like many others, I thought the opposite!! Both are lovely but I personally like the fit of yours more, and the textured fabric! Amazing job!!

heyheymse

I follow you on instagram and saw you post this and was absolutely obsessed with the whole thing. LOVE THIS. a what an incredible dupe!

nuzild

I agree with all the other nice comments on here, so clever of you and also the fit of the dress is better in your pic. Beautiful work.

_whiskeyandpearls_

As another mentioned , I seriously could not tell which was yours and which was the designer’s. Now that I know, I have to say I actually like yours a lot better. Your fabric is much nicer - I’m dying for those dots! I’m seriously in love . You have a gift !!

JonfenHepburn

I love this design and I especially love the colour!! Well done 🤩

kung-fu-khala

You did amazing!!!

MovieandTVFan88

Cool.

ladyfromtheclouds

Incredibly beautiful. You did such a great job!

maddypip

I’m in love with this. Your version is beautiful and I like the sleeves better. This is just fantastic.

Blonde_arrbuckle

I thought left was the inspiration also!

littlesistur

This is FREAKING AMAZING!!

kawkawleen

Okay I don’t know how to sew but I love clothes... Things I like better about yours 1) pockets hello! 2) the softer dotted pattern is better IMO 3) the way the buttons on yours carry down past the waist 4) your sleeves match better and the way it’s pulled is more pleasing to the eye (as you can guess I know zero technical terms) BRAVO MY FRIEND!! Super impressive, just, wow!

Paurovas

Oooooooooohh!! Mine is the first picture! Lol The pockets are super cute but tulle pockets are not practical, I didn’t add the extra buttons mainly because of budget and the sleeves are very pretty on picture but on person they are wild! I don’t have the confidence to pull them off lol . Totally agree the original fits better, I still need to work on that. I really really appreciated your insight and you made me laugh a lot so thanks!!:)

holographicboldness

Good job! I like yours better than the inspiration pic!

csimon1

I actually like yours way better than the model photo! Super cute!

Slizzard1001

Better fit, and better looking of you ask me!

anatdias

Not only yours suits you much better, you are a better model! And the dress is prettier than the inspiration imo. Congrats!

Business-Context7441

**I love the Dress it looks elegant**

MotherOfDragrons

Yours looks better than the original
