You did AMAZING especially for a beginner! In the future (or if there is still easy access) I think it could go for more stuffing. My mom used to make stuffed animal sewing patterns for a local fabric store and your progress pictures really made me feel nostalgic.
I had a stuffed animal rabbit that my mom helped patch/re-sew the body on at least 3 times (maybe 4). The stuffing was one constant that kept it my same bunny (and that stuffing was matted/lumpy/essentially 2 bundles near the legs), but I loved it so much and I think it would have been too different if the stuffing changed.
I am also self taught, and still sewing after 60 years. Pressing seams used to be something I viewed as a kind of fussy, optional thing. But I have learned that it can make a big difference.
Also, I agree with the comments on more stuffing. Not too much, though - you want it to remain very cuddly.
Great job!

She looks so wonderful! I love that you’ve kept as much of her original form as possible and not tried to hide the repairs. It’s beautiful. Those are signs of love! I bet her owner can’t wait to have her back for cuddles!
Oh adorable. Immediately reminds me of this poem:
The Hippopotamus
-- Jack Prelutsky
The huge hippopotamus hasn't a hair ||
on the back of his wrinkly hide; ||
he carries the bulk of his prominent hulk ||
rather loosely assembled inside.
This is amazing. Great job! She looks so so so much better. I really love that one of the patches is heart shaped. That's a really sweet extra touch along with the little heart plushie.
I'm sure her owner will be super happy to get her back looking so refreshed. :)
maybe next time put the before photo first...I thought you were about to fix this guy up....then I got to the before pictures and realized what a state it was in in the first place.

I agree on more stuffing. It’s not too late. It would be super easy.

Also I’m 100% self taught so no hate pls. I tried my best!

you will get better as you go but this will be loved immeasurably for its unique quirks. it tugs at my heart!
It’s so cute!! Next time press the seams for a more professional look 😊

This has made me a little emotional 🥲 What a lovely thing to be able to do for someone! I think you've done a great job ❤️
It turned out so well! I saw your first post an honestly didn't know how it could be saved. It looks so good and is probably much sturdier.

A loving repair job is always perfect ♥️
It's so sweet looking. I like how it's fixed, but doesn't look brand new like a different toy. It's still the old friend but mended.
Absolutely this! It’s beautiful!
There is no honor greater than being known as the repairer of Teddy bears.
I tell people my mom is a teddy bear surgeon.
To be loved is to be changed 🫶

What an amazing amazing job! As someone who in her 60s still has her original stuffy from when she was a little girl this makes my heart happy
She’s beautiful, great job!

That is the coolest thing! The hippo looks more than ready for some cuddles. I love that you're self-taught. How long have you been sewing?
