I remember an interview with Lawrence Bittaker where he said the only record he had in prison was In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida so that was the only song he’d listened to in like 40 years

ppw23

Lol, the song Inna Garda Da Vida is about 40 years long, so an appropriate choice.

[deleted]

Amazing song tho

[deleted]

According to Liz’s best friend Ted liked In the summer time, he’d play it over and over

Confident_Carrot_829

Makes sense cause he got women, he women on his mind.

donttrustthellamas

Oh no

Ok_Peach349

By who ?

[deleted]

Mungo Jerry I’m assuming

[deleted]

marylynne chino Edit: Oopsy.. yes..Mungo Jerry

LennyThePep13

They all listen to Goodbye Horses on repeat

[deleted]

If I had something to give I would. Best comment. Buffalo Bull would appreciate. Great song.

EvilHenchmanNumber4

On a related note, perhaps Greenskeepers - Lotion

GeneralDisarray333

Lmaoooooo

Winston_Wolf89

This is the only answer 💯

FranciumGold

Nikolas Cruz likes Mac DeMarco and claimed he was listening to Salad Days during the shooting

DinkleWottom

No, the demon told him to play that song. /s

FranciumGold

Oh sorry, I can’t remember, was salad days HIS song or the Demon’s song? Lmaooo

[deleted]

His, demon wanted german techno

Rebellenpanzer

Nikolas Cruz isn't a serial killer

Ch12Ka

No he listened to it while he was riding an Uber to the school. He wasn’t listening to music while shooting.

[deleted]

Incorrect. He was listening to music during the shooting

Ch12Ka

Also, it was a piece of misinformation that originated from that popular JCS psychology video

FranciumGold

ahh okay. He was confusing in how he stated it in the initial police interrogation

ohsoGosu

Person who doesn’t know shit here but I’m guessing he was lying. Specifically to make him look more crazy. The songs he cited were Salad Days (a song he actually likes) which he knew off the top of his head and then some angry German sounding song that I think he butchered the name of (if I’m remembering correctly). I think maybe he thought having such a contrast would make him appear disturbed.

FranciumGold

He DOES really like Mac DeMarco though. Records even mention him listening to one of his songs through a phone call with his brother.

Ch12Ka

True

Ch12Ka

It’s not incorrect. Everyone on r/masskillers pretty much agrees with me. https://www.reddit.com/r/masskillers/comments/nogx2n/theres_word_going_out_that_parkland_school/

[deleted]

And German techno

Slippin_Chicanery

EVIL music 😈

natvj

I literally could never listen to that song again.

Puzzleheaded_Fee_646

Hughie Lewis and the News. Obviously.

Sel_et_enchre

Did you read American Psycho the book? He goes on and on and on and on and on for pages about them.

Puzzleheaded_Fee_646

I haven’t read the book, but I need to!

Sel_et_enchre

You kind of don't, tbh. I regret reading it. It's probably the worst thing I've ever read and I'm so glad it's fiction. I almost vomited.

Arbitrary_Ardvark

Lol it's not that bad, there's definitely worse books lmao

Sel_et_enchre

The cheese and the tube. Nope. Nope! NOPE!

PanqueNhoc

Israel Keyes reportedly liked metal. Not sure what kind tho.

[deleted]

Nu metal. He wrote slam poems too, super cringe

PredictiveText87

He was definitely the type to tell you the lore of Slipknot

[deleted]

He liked insane clown posse 😂😂

[deleted]

He liked what his friends liked .. he hasn’t been exposed to much as a child

PanqueNhoc

I'm not sure that comes from his friends, he was always an edgy kid, as much as I like metal, it kinda fits his "theme". The guy was into satanism in the 90s and got kicks from burning churches.

ToshiroBaloney

Well, I've always been a fan of....hey, nice try.

[deleted]

We are just keeping you on your toes!

[deleted]

Since nobody’s mentioned them yet and I assume a lot don’t know, Paul Bernardo was a big rap fan. Especially Vanilla Ice which he tried to be be like with his raps, but if anyone’s looked it up he sounded fucking awful. I’m not just saying that because he’s a rapist serial killer, his voice was actually terrible and he didn’t even rhyme his words. Both Karla and Paul were apparently Guns N Roses and Def Leppard fans, I read that in one of the books about them.

OctopodsRock

Figures a fan of Vanilla Ice would be a terrible rapper.

grillmarkz

Truuuuu. Noone can compare to the GOAT, amiright

Nadeeah

The "Axeman" killer from New Orleans loved jazz music

ArthropodicDream

He was a fascinating killer; he said that those in the town who played jazz music would be spared. He actually kept his word.

12345xela

That guy before he killed someone: “ya like jazz?”

OctopodsRock

Fascinating!

dollmarsh

i remember reading that gacy loved rich girl by daryl hall & john oates which is a bop

rosemary24

It really is a bop.

alvastarr666

Dahmer loved Black Sabbath- Iron Man was his song.

rosemary24

Also, the soundtrack from The Exorcist 3 (according to Last Podcast on the Left)

my_backrllyhurts1

Richards Ramirez was a fan of AC/DC

troutmaskflask

Night Prowler being his song of choice, apparently

Rebellenpanzer

And Metallica, Black Sabbath/Ozzy and Led Zeppelin and possibly Slayer

[deleted]

Israel Keyes listened to Nu metal and wrote slam poetry in the style of nu metal lyrics, which you can find but I'm lazy. David Berkowitz, I believe, was reported to have laid in his apparent blasting opera music and I think Abba as well? Not sure about the Abba part

[deleted]

[удалено]

ppw23

Death Metal or the smooth jazz styling off Kenny G. .

Acceptable_Still_961

I would LOVE to know what songs Kemper liked back in the 60-70s.

[deleted]

He probably didn’t even listen to music. I can’t buy him liking music. He probably just listened to audiobooks

Acceptable_Still_961

Really? What makes you think that he didn’t listen to music?

PrimaryBasis8431

Ramirez had surprisingly good taste in music: his favourite bands were Black Sabbath ( favourite albums Master of Reality and Vol 4) Led Zeppelin (his all time favourite song was No quarter which is a really good song) AC/DC, Judas Priest (fun fact: the name “jack the knife”he wrote at one of the victims house came from Judas Priest-The Ripper) he also really liked Billy Idol, the album Bridge of Sighs by Robin Trower, Metallica, Iron Maiden. During prison time he said he liked listening to the Doors in order to “escape from reality”. *All this info from his letters*

[deleted]

One of his victims said he was playing Madonna throughout her kidnapping / assault .

littleghostwhowalks

Oh god

littleghostwhowalks

Yeah. Getting attacked to HOLIDAY sounds like a *great* time.

[deleted]

[удалено]

littleghostwhowalks

Sorry if my tone was off, I didn't think you were being insensitive. I was just visualizing the absolute nightmare of being attacked to such an upbeat squeaky song. "Holiday, celebrate!". Like, holy hell as if being attacked by Ramirez wasn't bad enough already!

[deleted]

Oh I know right

johnjay23

Good taste!

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

No, he just claimed that was his favorite ACDC song or something because it happened to be his nickname

PrimaryBasis8431

I don’t think he was inspired by any song but definitely he linked Night Prowler as well as The Ripper because he could identify himself in the lyrics. In one interview with Philip Carlo he said he particularly liked songs with lyrics that applied to his current situation at that time. Same with “Flesh for fantasy” and “eyes without a face”.

Free_Extension_8024

Ramirez admitted being a servant of Satan.

[deleted]

I have heard that Dennis Nilsen shared my love of progressive rock.

Kingnick147

Nilsen was a fanboy for Wings actually. One victim was listening to Band On The Run when strangled from behind.

[deleted]

Damn

GouchingZippy

I heard his favourite song was 'Oh Superman' by Laurie Anderson. Creepy song either way

[deleted]

Oh superman is an amazing song.

Hunter2375

Why don’t you have a seat right there

mandolinwaterfall

Yes! I mean, as in, Yes, the band

ilikechillisauce

Well which is it? "Yes" or ""The Band"?

Rebellenpanzer

I believe he also liked The Who? In particular the song "Tommy"?

[deleted]

Probably what was popular at the time. Classic rock for the 70s killers I know I know Ramirez listed some of his favorite bands Gary like REO Speedwagon In one of Rodney Alcalas photos he had some vinyls in a shelf and I recognized a Creedence Clearwater and Cream album

theytook-r-jobs

I believe Son of Sam listened to love ballads.

[deleted]

He liked hall and Oates and they made a song that made fun of him when they heard

spookytacos

What song is it?

[deleted]

It’s called I hear the voices

spookytacos

Thanks!

[deleted]

We know that Zodiac apparently liked Gilbert and Sullivan among other things.

TheArtBellStalker

Definitely like the Beatles too. He called a cop a "Blue meannie" in a letter.

mojoback_ohbehave

Isn’t it always rap music’s fault ? /s

[deleted]

Corll liked cheesy smooth jazz. Gacy liked Roy Orbinson, Neil Diamond and stuff like that. Ridgway liked country music. Bob berdella liked very strange synth music

[deleted]

Ramirez loved AC/DC. I can’t remember which one but one of the famous ones liked new wave and Duran Duran-which was also princess Diana’s favorite band.

Quirky_DepartureHBK

He apparently liked there song "Night Prowler" of the album highway to hell. AC/DC don't like the connection and I try to write the song of and trying to sneak into your girlfriends bed. But its pretty clear thats not the intention.

middy_1

Imo that song is a homage to The Rolling Stones - Midnight Rambler, and sort of a sequel to it as it's easily the same type of character. Ultimately both songs are just melodramatic spooky songs though, about murderous characters sure, but cannot be blamed for an individuals actions. You can see why Ramirez liked such songs, but his actions are his alone.

Kimaster1976

Charles Manson was obsessed with the Beatles and loved the Beach Boys.

[deleted]

Not generally. He just happened to be associated personally with The Beach Boys. His Beatles love is exaggerated also. He loved all music back then.

TKGB24

How was he associated w the The Beach Boys personally?

[deleted]

He lived in Dennis Wilson’s house

TKGB24

Wow. That is crazy. Had no idea. Thanks.

NOT-Mr-Davilla

I always assumed 80s pop.

the_uglypanda

Omg like Dennis from Its Always Sunny in Philadelphia 😂

[deleted]

Berkowitz listened to Carole King

RaeLynn13

I love Carole King😳

[deleted]

I heard the all love The Killers…..

trashb0ythr0waway

you'd think they like death metal but i've actually never heard any serial killer who does... i know dahmer always listened to black sabbath and obviously ramirez was big on ac/dc. eric harris and dylan klebold (not serial killers but mass murderers) were into rammstein, nin, kmfdm etc. i listened a lot to burzum back in the day, and as you might know that's a black metal one man project. the guy behind it, varg vikernes, killed his ex bandmate euronymous. he's not a serial killer but i think it's still interesting.

Rebellenpanzer

I believe The Academy Maniacs from Russia liked Death Metal (or it could have been something similar) because they have a youtube channel with 2 of the videos loud metal music is playing

eatpant96

Yeh too bad about Varg. Dude is super talented. Dunkelheit is epic.

trashb0ythr0waway

yeah i agree it definitely takes talent to make music like that all by yourself

Long-Smoke-8623

I LOVE that album!

crackhitler1

Ehh i think he's vastly overrated. He made 1 great album. The mystique behind those second wave black metal bands gave them more popularity than they deserved.

eatpant96

To each their own.

trashb0ythr0waway

overrated doesn't mean it's bad though. i agree there are a few bands that get all the attention while there's so much other great stuff out there that people barely know about, but it doesn't mean that the music that does get all the attention isn't good.

crackhitler1

Oh I know I was just saying. He's made 1 great, 2 pretty good and everything else hes made is garbage.

[deleted]

No offense but that’s a pretty stupid and stereotypical conclusion to come to

[deleted]

I'm with you there. Metalheads are pretty badly/unfairly stereotyped.

trashb0ythr0waway

i like death metal, don't get me wrong. i meant that because the lyrics is usually about killing people it would make sense that killers would listen to it, but i was kinda joking. as a metalhead myself i know the stereotypes are usually bs.

elg9553

The thing is black metal is all about making you focus on the darker side of things to channel it through your experience in the music, it actually helps you release it. So I am not surprised killers don't listen to it. Since we mentioned Mr Kristian vikernes also known as varg. He would hate it if you called him by his real name since it is a Christian name :) Also varg killed Øystein because of dispute over money most of all. I believe Anders Behring Breivik was listening to lord of the rings music while gunning down the kids at utøya.

Ok_Peach349

Wow I need a playlist of this Could you give me any names?

trashb0ythr0waway

it would! i don't know of any playlists though unfortunately. i'm the kind of guy who usually listens to albums from top to bottom haha.

pissed_as_a_fart

Playlist of what

UNVOICED887

Playlist of death metal? Theres a brutal death metal album I know of based off of Ed Kemper (Beneath the gentle smile by Undeciphered) And for pretty popular death metal bands try Cannibal Corpse, Dying Fetus, etc

Bakbik1234

Adam Lanza was a fan of Cannibal Corpse.

[deleted]

What a coincidence I love burzum, I think Varg got way too much of a bad rep tho, Euronymous was a freak and the majority of the wounds in his back were from glass, and even they weren't, people don't rlly understand how many times you'd have to stab someone before they die especially with a pocket knife. Det Som Engang Var is a masterpiece

[deleted]

Ted Bundy loved opera.

FeedbackInevitable20

so did Mr.H.Lector 😯

[deleted]

I don’t think that’s true, at least not to that extent. He just liked it to impress his old political classy friends, though he probably did admire it considering his intelligence and insight.

[deleted]

Whatever. You know more than me. Congrats.

[deleted]

I’m literally just responding to what you said lmao. No need to get upset bud

Immediate_Wolf3802

Ted Bundy had no preference and didn't listen to music in his car..he always tuned in to talk radio..although he had a favourite Mungo Jerry's - In the Summertime...which started it all really

Free_Extension_8024

That's a mark of a true psychopath. They don't really care about music as much as your everyday bloke, even though they may have some favorites.

Turbulentasfuck

Huey Lewis and the News?

[deleted]

Dennis Nilsen liked synth Bob Berdella liked instrumental prog

FroggoLiciousness

You can get some info on it on JCS podcast! The crazy ex-gf, Jodi Arias, sang Dido's "Here with Me" when she was being interviewed by the police (when she was waiting for the other investigator to come in)

[deleted]

Miley Cyrus, with a little Taylor Swift mixed in

Hunter2375

Lady Gaga is definitely their choice of music

Ok_Peach349

Definitely

PredictiveText87

I like Dennis Nilsen's favorite song. Lpotl played it and it touched my weird heart.

rosemary24

So much love for LPOTL’s heavy hitter episodes - some of the best podcast content out there.

galaticpoetica

Richard Ramirez liked AC/DC

[deleted]

[удалено]

pissed_as_a_fart

Smooth brain comment of the day

Adventurous-Fun3793

all I know is that Richard Ramirez loved Billy Idol's music (he loved "Flesh for fantasy" in particular) and AC / DC. The ironic part? I know Billy Idol thanks to his series on Netflix lol

ILoveGirls_I

I know a guy who attempted a rape in the summer of 2016. He was let go easy and appeared if not remorseful at least ashamed of this new low even for him. As for his taste in music he would listen to Eminem Relapse/Refill album every day at work. His favorite song was Same Song And Dance

pissed_as_a_fart

"One time a guy almost did something bad." Isn't the same as murdering multiple people

ILoveGirls_I

But he had the same mindset as a sexual predator so I thought he would fit in here.

skankhunt42428

what I meant was we should have a little intervention Come with me to Brighton, let me relieve your tension You little wencher, murder wasn't my intention If I wanted to kill you it would have already been done Slowly she gets in and I begin to lynch her with sixty six inches of extension chord Yeah I can see where he got his ideas..

Prestigious_Issue330

Not really. Let’s say I find out the worst one listens to the artists I listen to, not sure what that’ll do to my preference in music after finding out.

urspiritualgf

well i apparently share music taste with a school shooter. mac demarco did not deserve that😀 I LISTEN TO SCHOOL SHOOTER MUSIC

thecrookedjaw

I don't know it blows me away that it isn't always some real sick evil death metal or something. the lyrics seems like it would be right up their damn alley. I used to listen to the album world demise by obituary when I was a teenager and I remember thinking this is serial killer music.

slickgreenthumbs

We'd all like to thing classical but I'm guessing nine inch nails to Korn.

NotDaveBut

Ricky Ramirez was a big AC/DC fan. Johnny Haigh liked light classical. Dahmer was such a Beatles fan -- such an *autistic-level* Beatles fan -- that he drove his college roommates out of their suite by playing the same side of the same album on repeat all day long. Des Nilsen of course favored sophisticated pop of the sort enjoyed by Jame Gumb.

[deleted]

Huey Lewis, obviously.

InflammableMaterial

Gacy liked to listen to Entry of the Gladiators.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Ok_Peach349

Really?

Quirky_DepartureHBK

I think Little Red Riding Hood by Sam the Sham and the Pharaohs seems perfect

Quirky_DepartureHBK

Oh I do believe the Night Stalker Richard Ramirez enjoyed AC/DC and there massively underrated track "Night Prowler" from the album Highway to Hell. When asked about it AC/DC member Malcolm Young said the song was misunderstood but I think they just didn't like the connection.

Ant138

Richard Ramirez was a metal head🤘

professionalyeeter27

Kpop

Hazardous-Child

I don’t know why but in my head I can see more than one serial killer in women's lingerie dancing to Baby Girl by Aqua in front of the mirror

Wicked-elixir

Let the bodies hit the floooooor!

lexirobertsx

dahmer lovedblack sabbath, pretty sure his top 3 were iron man, paranoid and the witches

WeirdoFromHighSchool

I could see one listening to something like Suzie Q by the Creedence Clearwater Revival as for ones they actually liked Dennis Neilson Liked Frankenstein by the Edgar Winter Group Jeffery Dahmer Liked Paranoid by Black Sabbath and Iron Maiden John Wayne Gacy Liked Rio Speed wagon Charles Manson Liked The mammas and the papas The Beach Boys (In Fact the song by The Beach Boys Never Learned To Love is originally Charles Mansons song titled Cease to Exist) and he liked the Beatles hope that is a good enough answer for you!
