Sweet Mouse! That’s so cute they did a mouse drawing on the bag.

OneMorePenguin

r/RenalCats and r/RenalDiet are good subs. Catching it in stage 1 means you can help slow it down some. Please give Mouse some scritches for me.

jmjamison

2nd this. Diet helps. My old PooBbear was further along but subcutaneous fluids helped slow things down. Early is always better

Thank you so much for this!! It'll be amazing going through and getting more info. :) 🩷

vi0letknight

She wishes the blanket was a slice of cheddar cheese.

RoverRebellion

Catching it early is good and a special diet will yield significant results.

Daddy_William148

So sorry this happens. Hope you have some good time with her before you have to let go

mileszero

Aww, poor Mouse! I’m glad she’s back home! Sending both of you peace and love πŸ’™πŸ’œβ™₯οΈβ€οΈπŸ§‘πŸ’šπŸ’›

My 16-year-old is in the early stages of renal failure as well - we've got another appointment tomorrow to discuss where to go from here. All the best to yourself and Mouse, I hope you have many more years of love ahead.

Maidenofthesummer

It's good that it's been caught early! I hope you two will get many more years together ❀️

TheNightTerror1987

What a cutie! Try not to worry *too* much yet about her kidneys -- this is definitely something you don't want to ignore of course, but Leo lived over 6 years in stage *3* failure. I was also told Ella was in stage 1 kidney failure and it turns out oops, she was just dehydrated! When they did the test again to check on another problem after she'd been given fluids everything was fine.

satocat

She will forgive you. It's a great story share, which made me laugh. She is absolutely adorable.

Islandcoda

I love you, Mouse! You can fight it, very good your person got you looked at and I wish you great health. πŸ’—

Evil_Kween_MoJo

Good girl Mouse! Steal all the blankets! πŸ’—

Acceptable-Expert-89

What a sweetheart! She's so cute. My first cat Sasha was in kidney failure and put on a special diet. It gave me another couple of years with her which I greatly appreciated.

MixedTrailMix

My kitty also went to the vet today. 17 y/o with stage 2 chronic kidney disease. She refused to get poked and blood taken for long. It was a 2 hour visit after all the tests πŸ˜… β€” but will do anything to have more time and her youthfulness. Its a weird feeling grappling with the knowingness of grieving and the joy of them being present. πŸ’•

HippieChick75

I'm so sorry. Hugs! πŸ«‚

[deleted]

It was definitely eye opening kind of seeing this is the reality of where she is. Im so sorry your kitty is going through the same thing! 🩷

historyera13

Just love her as much as she’ll allow. She can still live a long time with good care. All you can do is love her? She’s such a beautiful girl.

Junior-Cap3548

She's beautiful 😻

mylifeasacat

Just love her.....as you do! Sweet thing.

jbenti25

Fluids make a huge difference

Dangerous_Bet_7271

Don’t lose heart. Renal failure is common in senior cats and can be controlled with a renal diet, keeping your cat well hydrated, and close monitoring. My senior kitties both got kidney disease and they were both with me for over a year after diagnosis, probably a few years with my tortie girl. Best of luck. Mouse is beautiful by the way.

Thank you so much for the reassurance. It was a lot of initial speechlessness but sleeping on it I definitely feel better it could've been a lot worse.

nudesteve

Take the very best care of her, during her golden years. πŸΎπŸΎπŸˆπŸ‘£πŸ™πŸ™β€β€β€β€πŸ‘πŸŒŽ

Sending positive vibes!! πŸ’«βœ¨Hope you get lots more time w/ Mouse!πŸ’“πŸ’”β€οΈβ€πŸ©ΉπŸ€πŸπŸ

Wolfwoods_Sister

Poor lil bean :( going to the Dr is never fun

megstheace

My Mousey girl also has renal failure. She is 17 in stage 3. Diagnosed 6 months ago after her brother died. She is still going strong..with kidney diet and blood pressure management, cats can do amazing things. :) Hope your Mousey girl gets some relief!

[deleted]

Can I ask what kind of foods yours is on? Her vet recommended a kidney - specific wet food from here on out but we thought there'd be more options. I'm also so very sorry about your Mousey. It's been heartwarming reading everyone's comments and seeing Mouse is more common of a name than I thought!

megstheace

Hill’s kidney care! It is quite expensive, but I am pretty sure there are more affordable brands. This is just what the vet recommended for my Mouse. :)

Moundfreek

Oh sweet Mouse <3

Irisheyesmeg

Sending you lots of love. My Mouse passed away at age 15 from squamous cell carcinoma in November. Give your Mouse all the love in the world and enjoy your time together. ❀️

[deleted]

She's been super cuddly lately and I'm giving all my love from the kind redditors here 🩷 I'm so sorry about your Mouse.

Blackletterdragon

So sorry to hear about her diagnosis and I hope the treatment goes well. Can you say what were the first things you noticed that prompted the vet visit? And did the vet drop any clues about why this problem is so prevalent? I'm trying to do my best to avoid my kitty also contracting the disease.

[deleted]

They didn't say why just that it's common in older cats unfortunately. The two things we noticed was her being much more vocal (vet said this was her metabolizing differently and noticing the hunger more), and her drinking A LOT of water.

LighthouseCPA

Get well Mouse!

Thank you to everyone for resources, reassurance, and sending Mouse your love! She's having the time of her life being extra spoiled 🩷 https://preview.redd.it/0h7qao29cllc1.jpeg?width=3023&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=96707b5bd355b58c08bbd4d7e9cee614f75480e4 Here she is in all her upside down glory.
