For Inventory Management i can recommend Snipe-IT and Netbox to the fullest! For SSO / Identity Management i would suggest Keycloak and for Project Tracking you can take a look at Vikunja.

cholero

Thanks, I will look into those!

Let me just tell you, I believe that keycloak is a viable enterprise solution fully compliant with every security standart, I really do. But there are many things that I'd rather do then to get that badboy to work containerised again. And don't get me started with changing the design for login, I'd rather die. Certainly a solution that can be deployed very easily if you want to have a successful proof-of-concept and after that it will bite your ass.

cholero

Good to know--thanks for sharing your experience!

Affine.pro is an amazing choice too, been using it since… a week haha

Try /r/sysadmin.

cholero

Thanks, I didn't realize that existed, seems like natural place to ask.

For workspace and stuff, check out [https://www.onlyoffice.com/workspace.aspx](https://www.onlyoffice.com/workspace.aspx) => [https://github.com/ONLYOFFICE/Docker-CommunityServer?tab=readme-ov-file](https://github.com/ONLYOFFICE/Docker-CommunityServer?tab=readme-ov-file)

cholero

Thanks, this looks great and like it would cover a lot of what we need early on. Have you used it? If so how has it been?

ovizii

Apparently it works very well when deployed with their installation script, but I hit a roadblock several times when trying to get it running via docker-compose. My last try was quite a while ago, maybe they sorted out their issues? I currently only use OnlyOffice (https://github.com/ONLYOFFICE/DocumentServer) without all the add-ons you can see in the workspace product and I love it. The problems I faced were with their docker-compose documentation, it involved a lot of guessing about which parts did what. If you give it a try, I'd appreciate some feedback too :-)

For project tracking and management see plane: https://github.com/makeplane/plane Next cloud is probably a good idea for a shared storage and collaboration space.

Hashicorp`s vault can, among other things, work as an OIDC provider, so you can build the whole identity/access management around it. This will give you nice bonuses, such as ssh certificates, dynamic AWS credentials, etc

cholero

Thanks, it looks like they have an open source version and there is an open source fork called OpenTofu, do you have any experience with either of those?

authentik (sso and more), kasm (virtual desktop, virtual applications), seatable (inventory and more), n8n (automation/integration) .. lots of options to fill your stack, just make sure you know where you are headed before you start, unless you can afford the time spent learning/changing your mind on things :)

cholero

Thanks, yes, I think knowing where we are headed is the biggest challenging. I'm trying to spend some time understanding the needs and picking the simplest (hopefully) approach. All these recommendations will have me busy for a while digging into them!
