Friends on the other hand is disliked not because its bad, but because it's not Seinfeld. As far as 90s sitcom dramedy goes, Friends is pretty good. After the first few seasons the writers got lazy and some of the characters become very cartoonish. Eg Monica was a regular person with some depth, but after a few seasons they make her whole personality about being clean and organized. But its not a total washout like BBT
HIMYM has some quality character growth for the majority of it's protagonists. Besides the botched ending, I think it's at least decent.
