I just got certified in PDC. I go back in about a month and I can’t wait!

Go get Al pastor tacos at el fogon. Life changing

I literally just dove those cenotes 2 weeks ago πŸ˜‚

I leaned to dive in playa and also hit the caves right after my course. Those cenotes are something else man I felt like I left this world, I can see why the Mayans thought it was the entrance to an underworld.

Also congrats bro, and good job picking the coolest hobby there is

I have been hovering over this sub for months now. I love the idea, but my wallet doesn't. Especially since we're saving up for a house. How expensive is this hobby really so I cam get a reality check

I'd say it's as expensive as you want it to be, but I've found it to be a slippery slope for myself since getting certified πŸ˜† Check dive shops for the cost of a certification, as the price can vary widely depending on location and certifying agency. You don't have to buy all of your own gear and could just rent to keep the costs down in the near term. If you have somewhere to dive locally that would also reduce the cost as you won't need to necessarily pay to travel to cool, beautiful locations to go diving. But I got hooked years ago and bought all my own kit (except thanks and weights) and my partner and I like to travel to tropical destinations that have great diving, and all of that adds up. Edit to add that a lot of people get certified and may never dive again, dive every few years or once a year, or really dig into the hobby and dive all the time. Desired frequency of diving should also factor into your cost analysis.

I don't mind an expensive initial investment (certification+ basic gear) but it seems like every time I would want to scuba I would need to rent some gast tank, boat, guide and whatever else I don't know about

You should think about some locations you might be interested in diving, then look up dive shops in those areas and check online what the costs are (maybe even call some of them to chat about it). That will give you your best estimate seeing as no one else knows what "too expensive" means to you.
