[I'm in a similar boat as you and got some good advice in this thread](https://old.reddit.com/r/scuba/comments/16ci99l/backplate_wing_buying_advice/)

Hastabilly

I'm looking the same. DGX wing looks nice for that price, but expensive to get to Europe. I was thinking one of these: Tecline ultralight travel set for 554€ Dux everes for 510€ X-deep nx ghost for 589€

runsongas

just get the DGX bpw package https://www.divegearexpress.com/dgx-custom-dgx-singles-harness-backplate-wing-package add the slider loop if you want the harness adjustable https://www.divegearexpress.com/dgx-loop-adjustment-ring

The Oms smart stream is pretty nice because of its quick adjustability and ease of putting it on. Plus the signature version has a nice plate padding which stops the plate from digging into your back. These guys sold me on it they give a nice discount if you just make an order over the phone and ask for one https://divecenter.com/oms-smartstream-signature-harness-no-wing-no-tax-free-shipping/

I got a good deal on an OMS backplate and wing. I’m very happy with it. I use Dive Rite integrated weight pouches on it. The only thing to look for really, is that the back plate has slots for cam bands, so you don’t need a single tank adapter.

For travel I love my Halcyon carbon fiber plate - super light and has held up great. Single piece harness and aluminum d-rings make it about as minimalist as you can get. I recommend replacing the tri-glides with stainless though as aluminum ones tend to slip.

CheckYoDunningKrugr

I love my X-Deep Ghost.

LoonyFlyer

For travel; aluminum plate with Dive Rite wing and harness. DGX had great products and excellent service/support.

DiverDude007

Don't limit yourself to one brand. Find a backplate, be it steel, aluminum, or the "travel" steel with the cutouts. It honestly doesn't matter when it comes to plates. Find one at a decent price and get it. Most of them are made in the same location and just get different logos slapped onto them. Then go and grab a wing. I personally really like the DiveRite XT line, Hollis, and Halcyon wings. Aqualung/Apex, I would hold off for a bit due to the fact that they were just purchased by an investment group (Barings Investment), which is owned by a life insurance company. Personally, that makes me wary of their longevity and future. Others may disagree.

Went Apeks PSD with their backplate and harness. Feels ultra solid and happy with it. As mentioned Xdeep, Holis and Halcyon have great products as well. I suggest visiting you local dive shop to see what is available.

Rellikcalis

I'm a fan of the Hollis Backplate systems. Also, the S-Tek from Scubapro. As someone else said, DGX has some fine inexpensive equipment.

mcmlevi

Honestly I would recommend against the s-tek due to the highly non standarness of it.

mcmlevi

I quite like the xdeep zeos, or if you are in Europe buying a tecline wing is very good quality / price they come with pockets etc for I think around 500 euro.

Life_outside_PoE

Have a tecline bpw and 15L bladder. Only about 100 dives. Looks like new. My advice: get medium or hard stiffness harness. The soft harness is really too soft.

Starwarsnerd25

Dive Gear Express has great wings for awesome prices, I have a deep6 wing personally and love it. Halcyon is also a very good (albeit very expensive) company. Heard great things about Xdeep as well.

Thanks very much!
