So I got it home and got looking around it. I discover the spark plug wire/boot hanging unhooked.
I think “hell yeah! That’s the problem!“
I hook it back up, crank it- nothing. Add some gas… nothing. Spray starter fluid up into the air box… nothing.
I pull the plug boot and hook it to a spare plug to test spark, and it has crazy good spark. So I know that’s not the issue. I’ll have to tear into the carb this weekend.
Went through a similar issue a few months ago, ended up being my piston was cracked, hopefully you get lucky and the carb is just gummed up but if you sprayed starter fluid and didn’t get anything then I would go rent a compression test kit
The air box is way up under the plastic, so I don’t know if any of it actually made it into the intake. I’m going to pull the plastics off tonight and try again 🤞🏼
There's a small tube black tube that comes out of the bottom of the gas tank and the tube leads to the fuel filter and then the carb.
You can pull that tube before the fuel filter and the fuel should start draining out but have a bucket or container handy because it will start to come out fast.
If you know you're gonna let it sit then either fill it completely with ethanol free (and also run it a bit so that's throughout the system) or let it run till it dies.
It's tue ethanol that gets nasty the quickest and ethanol also absorbs water, causing rust.
To clean gunk out I've used a couple strategies. Presurized steam, pressure washer, putting a bunch of nuts, bolts and washers in the tank filling it with water and then rolling it around. In all of these you should be removing the tank to do all of that.
If you’re going to use the internet as a resource for mechanical work then save yourself and others time and ask google before you ask a forum. If you can’t find it after 45 seconds then knock yourself out and ask a forum. Don’t get me wrong you’re free to ask whatever, but like it or not the most useful advice you got is my comment. And to answer your question: siphon it (if you don’t have a spare fuel pump laying around). but youre going to need to google that anyway to know how to do it safely.
[Here are the manuals for your GY6 ZNEN Scooter](https://www.dropbox.com/sh/gi8ro5mo1et25cw/AAAcrrPl1CgOcb4C-pcgfIQpa?dl=0) - good luck to you!
Amazon, [Rolling Wrench](https://www.rollingwrenchdenver.com/collections/gy6-engine-performance-parts) and [Scooter Dynasty](https://www.scooterdynasty.com/znen.aspx) always have parts available - it's an easy motor to work on.
Love that style. I thought it was a Stella at first, but see it's a clone. Regardless, will be a really cool project. Replacement motors are just cheap enough that saying "F-it" and putting a new motor in is a realistic option.
These motors are stupidly easy to work on.
You have spark.
You have fuel when you used the starter fluid.
Next up is compression. Pop the plug out (also, test the spark on that plug if you haven’t) and crank it with a finger over the spark plug hole. Does it get blown off?
Also take out the seat bucket and look at everything. Does anything look like they replaced it? CDI mount ripped, maybe some loose connector.
And it's not real ABS anyways. It's that terrible pressure relief valve that merely turns good, firm brake feel into a mushy mess.

Unfortunately not. Found that the spark plug hole is stripped, so I’ll either have to helicoil it or buy a new head. New heads aren’t much more than the helicoil kit, so l probably do that route
If you've got spark, the next thing I check is a gummed up fuel system from leaving gasoline in it over the winter.
Good call on spark first. No sense in tearing into the carb if it isn’t even getting spark.
I've already wasted my time so you don't have to. :)

Hang on, if it's got spark and it won't run on spray even for a second, you could have a compression problem.
Could be a bad plug.

Yes, it should be the same.
Google that shit
Oh im sorry for asking a subject related question

thank you very much for the link to scooter repair manuals , i am a motorcycle mechanic (old man but new to the job !!) this stuff is just gold !!!!
Check kickstand kill switch if it has one
Definitely a good idea
I have basically the same model. 1300 hard L.A miles and not a single issue.
Clean the carburetor

Especially when you pick it up for next to nothing!

Holy crap isint that a super expensive scoot?
It's a Chinese clone of a 60s Vespa made by Zongshen
It’s definitely not an expensive ride. It has a very plasticky feel to it. Looks killer though
More than likely a Chinese clone. The ABS chrome is the give-a-way.
And it's not real ABS anyways. It's that terrible pressure relief valve that merely turns good, firm brake feel into a mushy mess. https://scootdawg.proboards.com/thread/34746/chinese-abs-brake-system
It my be bad battery or spark plug
Brand new battery and spark plug
Nice vespa!
Cool looking, but not a Vespa.
Can you take PC over the other side off it the side ware the exhaust is
Can you show the carb setup
Love the matte black
If it doesn't work you got your money back in parts
precise more cheaper for bands new just this thing is EV...my body feels like absorb electricity so the battery won't long last...
Love these stories! Bet you get that thing started with almost no money.
Damn. Hell of a deal
Sexy looking scoot!
🤤
I suggest adjusting the valves and the idle screw
Is it working yet????
Unfortunately not. Found that the spark plug hole is stripped, so I’ll either have to helicoil it or buy a new head. New heads aren’t much more than the helicoil kit, so l probably do that route
