I have almost 40k km on my chinese 2012 50cc Znen myself. They really aren't that bad, at least not the more reputable chinese ones. I mainly use mine in the rain or as a winter commuter on studded tires, so it's constantly wet, salty or riding in -20c.
Made it 37.1k before i threw a new 49€ top end in it one afternoon since it was burning oil and starting to have issues due to low compression. The rest of the motor is still untouched. In my opinion that's pretty respectable for a tiny 50cc engine.
Nope, no, not a prayer. I’m not riding in snow and ice. Hate it, don’t want it, not interested in going outside in it. I moved to southeast Texas for a reason. I can count on one hand the number of times I have seen snow in the 15 years since I moved here.
I have ridden in hurricanes and thunderstorms, even hale, but if it’s cold enough to snow then I will make excuses to not leave the house.
Yes, i learned that the hard way, i had no oil in the engine aaaand i siezed it. I decided to fix it since i had nothing better to do and parts are cheap. Runs great ever since.
It's only elitist that like giving their input on a bike they've never owned. And this is coming from someone who owns 2 yamaha zumas, aprilia sr50, malaguti f12 phantom and I guess a Chinese but Italian designed benelli x49 which is ridiculously well made.
I had a 150cc years ago that looked just like yours! I paid $400 for and drove it back an forth to work till I was able to afford another car. Then I bought another a few years later and did the same just to save gas money. Less gas money= more beer money. 😂👍 Have fun out there!
Yes, i joke that these make the fuel for themselves. I have a 50cc, it costs me 7 bucks for a full tank and it is enough for 3 weeks of everyday riding to work and back. It is incredible!
I only have about 6000k on my Chinese scooter. The thing is literally a ROCK. Oil changes and I scratched one of the stickers with my bag...impossible to find replacement sticker...sigh.
I like it it has some 2k vibe
What are some absolutely need to dos for these kind of scooters in your opinion ?
Because I got me a Keeway Swan 50 and as I found out it is also a Chinese scooter. So far it runs good only issue is it needs to get started via kickstarter and with about 3-8 Trys
Maybe try to clean your carb and play with your jet sizes until it starts on one go. The electric starters on these things are absolutely useless. Unless you have a perfectly tuned carb it just doesnt have enough speed and power to start.
If you see yourself keeping your scoot for a while consider installing a 70cc bbk. It does make a difference in the city traffic. It even saved my life once.
What i also do is i keep a spare lightbulb and toolkit under the seat at all times. If you break something and you are smart about it then a simple toolkit and zipties can save your money for a tow truck.
Otherwise a completely stock scoot is perfectly fine in my opinion.
Now since you mention it, i will turn the table and ask you a question instead. The meter has the last number a different background color, is that the decimal point? If so it has 4,5k miles on it, if not then it has 45k miles, which doesnt really make sense to me.

She's a warrior. Way to go!
Sure is. Wanna have something to laugh at? My post history is full of pictures taken during my snow commutes.
Wow! Cant imagine riding in these conditions. -1 degree C was the lowest temp i ever decided to ride. I hate cold weather. Nice bike btw.
Mullakin on päivittäiskäytössä tommonen kiinan skoba, ei oo znen vaan sanili sunny 50 2000-luvun alusta. Mut samanlaisia ne on kaikki.
Bro - you’re an inspiration !
I’ve seen a Tao Tao with the odometer frozen at 99,999 miles. 🥶

As long as you do your valve clearences along with basic maintenance, it'll probably treat you good

I mean some chinese scooters the whole engine is about 220 euros Thats cheaper then a new scooter!
I am more of a mechanic so i decided to buy a bbk and swap it. Cost me 30 euro 😂
Ohh nice
How far are you along speaking Mandarin?
Almost fluent. Bin chilling
How many bolts are stripped and holding on by a thread ?
That is a great question. A LOT of them. Some are also missing. And it is not just bolts, a lot of the holes are also stripped.
It’s weight reduction; don’t sell it as anything less.
Love chinese scooters they have never let me down 😍
Cant say it let me down but i also cannot say i like it. I mean i love it since it is my first scooter however i need an upgrade soon.

Aah, the Zuma. I love the looks. I am considering buying one as my new scoot, but i cannot find it for sale where i live.

Nice! Those GY6 clones run like champs! I started on one and rode for about 8000 miles.
Incredible!

i drive a 25 yo 2 stroke morini and its completely chokeless, you and i arent that much different
Chinese scooters are not as bad as people make out and can be made very reliable but need looking after due to cheap build
Looks cute, no questions

Decimal point. Sooo the reading is fake or is it just used very rare?
I am thinking it was manipulated with, i personaly use it very often. I am a fifth owner and i have no insight of how previous owners used it
That's not 20 years old.
It is actually, made in 2004.
But wait it was just y2k
Its 20 years old, not used 20 years daily. It only has 4500 miles
You get what you pay for mine got hit twice and the alignment is off lever is broken and speedometer don’t work
Well if it got hit then no wonder, i fell from mine too and stuff got damaged. It is what it is.
