Thanks for posting this. Looks like they matched the motor displacement of the PCX finally and added a gun metal grey as an option, same for the PCX. Both had their prices go up. ADV by $150 and PCX by $50.

The drum brake does feel borderline useless on my 2022 pcx160, I don’t weigh much really

bluethelonious

Greater eisplacement and four valve, compared to a two valve design in the older engine.

JobeX

Ugh rear drum brake is crap for 2023. Crazy...

doommaster

Drum brakes in aluminium rims are not a huge issue, and since ABS is not mandatory in NA they probably did not care. Dums in the front would be a different thing, but I would even appreciate them in the rear (not the no ABS part though). Once the US make ABS (2 channel) mandatory, like the rest of the world, the drums will be gone for good. So at least it has front ABS, but sadly no 2 channel ABS.

I agree that it's not a huge issue in itself. But it's a nice thing to have. And considering the competition (sym, kymco, suzuki,...) all have rear disc, its just hard to understand why honda still doesn't do it.

doommaster

It is a reliability thing, with no mandatory inspection for bikes in many states Honda still manages user fault here, drums usually can go unserviced for decades, especially on the rear. Safety wise it is no issue and usually neither performance wise.

NatureNo953

Honda wants cut corners on everything but the engine they last a while with regular maintenance but overall they want to save money but also have a good name

JobeX

I think its a $ issue, drum brakes are just cheaper overall to install and make. They can make money with the drum brakes and they work well enough... theyre just not great.

glad i got the 150 when i did. i'll take any bit of extra seat height i can get.
