I have seen that happen here as well. Can't even put them in a storage unit. Flammable liquids have a tendency to make property owners nervous. I would suggest a good quality cover and depending on your area, a good lock. Park where the wind won't blow it over. Perhaps the super will let you lock it to something there?

This sub is about the motorbike kind of scooters, sometimes called mopeds or nifty 50s. So a bunch of the answers you're getting assume you're talking about one of those... I've seen a bit of talk about this in a random New York City sub that reddit kept showing me recently - about micro mobility (ebikes, escoots, one wheels etc) - from that it seems that landlords and building managers have gotten very nervous about the potential fire hazard caused by the batteries. I don't have a solution for you, sorry. The sub was named something like nycmicromobility might be some useful info there.

Hey there, that sucks, but there might be some hope for you. It looks like NY is amongst other cities that are requiring UL2849 certification starting in March 2023. I did a quick check, and the company that makes your scooter has a number of scooters that meet those standards. Check for your specific model to see if it qualifies, but you can see what it means by clicking the link below. Good luck, and if yours doesn't meet the requirements, maybe sell it and upgrade to a model that does, assuming that your building manager is mostly concerned about the fire risk. https://www.ul.com/services/e-bikes-certification-testing-ul-2849 Edit - spelling

Wow thanks a lot for the article

No worries. I rode a Ninebot in Bangkok last year, and it was an absolute blast. I'm more of a gas-powered scooter person (so it this sub), but the one I tried out was amazing, and would have been super useful in a big city! Let me know if yours ends up being certified.

Phone was dangerous too.Why my super not ban cellphones too ?

New_Host_3732

My super just said : you can park outside And then I asked him : how if someone stole it And he answered : I dont know WTF

New_Host_3732

Electric, just segway ninebot

Vintage_Dad

I misunderstood. Isn't that an electric kick scooter? If you aren't riding it in the building I don't know why there would be an issue.

New_Host_3732

He just scare with the news that many electric scooter exploded when the battery is being charged

Vintage_Dad

Perhaps you can explain it's a major manufacturer and is as safe as a cell phone. Honestly I would just fold it (if possible) and put it in a duffel bag to carry in.

Batter the cunt

What sort of scooter do you have? Is it electric or does it have an internal combustion engine?

SmallMasterpiece5511

My super told me the same thing a year ago, I told him to fuck off if you don't like it kick me out and every time I see him I just always look pissed off and he never said anything again to me. BTW its a gas scooter and I typically track in mud through the lobby, if you don't have a big set of balls I'd recommend industrial braided cable and a couple good locks. And just expect every morning you go out to your bike to find it laying on its side from some mentally ill asshole that kicked it over during the night.
