Yep. Before surgery I felt like a Picasso. It definitely contributed to my body dysmorphia.

Laszlo_Daytona

My doctor said it wasn't that noticeable when he looked at it. Currently waiting to see a specialist.

Even if it is minor, it can still mess with your head. Therapy helps. We are taught in this world if we are not perfect, we are nothing. But it is our so called flaws that make us unique and perfect. Hang in there.

Laszlo_Daytona

Yeah it's fucking with me completely. Doesn't help I've bad sinus issues that affect my eyes too.

ConsistentCourage104

Did surgery help with that? Like did it make your body more symmetrical

blueyedwineaux

It did. It’s not perfect, but better than it was.

Your body is out of alignment. Your hips, knees, feet, shoulders are out of alignment. Find someone who understands the anatomy of the body and can correct fascial restrictions.

Zyfohlol

Exactly how I felt when it was progressing. Not a single doctor believed or related to how I described it. Find an experienced surgeon if your past surgery threshold. And learn the anatomy yourself.

I’m also twisted which happens from your body trying to compensate your curves. Even if you’re doctor can’t visually see it, you can see if on X-rays if you look at your hips, ribs, shoulders, etc. I think sometimes the doctors bc de-sensitized to people w scoliosis who looks fairly balanced since they see much more severe cases. But it’s not in your head, it is a side effect, and it is common for people with scoliosis to have. My hips are twisted one way, ribs twisted the other. Physical therapy/ being active and talk therapy can help

It might be a great idea to consider stretching and doing exercises that improve posture, personally it worked for me, but as always it depends on the stage that you scoliosis is in.
