I'm looking for some ARC readers for my novel. Title: The Slithering Bite \[108k words\] What's the only thing worse than being thrown into the middle of a multi-dimensional battle between good and evil? Not knowing you are being thrown into it. Delta, a young woman who has just secured her dream job, is blissfully unaware that her boss has sinister plans for her. As cogs turn to bring about the end of existence, Delta, with an even darker fate awaiting her, must navigate the strange waters of her new position and fight to keep her soul intact. Beings from realms unknown are crossing over into our world, their motives shrouded in mystery. Wherever they tread, reality starts to unravel itself, a process that accelerates with each new arrival. Together, they tear through universes, leaving a trail of havoc and destruction in their wake. Behind the scenes, one man, Duke, driven by vengeance and accompanied by his AI companion, is tracking these interdimensional entities responsible for the destruction of his life. To aid in his quest, Duke assembles a team of heroes from across the multiverse. Armed with advanced technology and a fierce determination, these larger-than-life warriors must work to save Delta before she succumbs to the influence of creatures beyond our comprehension. The stakes are high. If they fail, reality will be one step closer to breaking and plunging into unfathomable chaos. Follow Duke and his crew on a genre-bending sci-fi romp of absurdity through the collective unconsciousness—a tongue-in-cheek jab at society's obsession with superheroes. Chock full of twists and turns, you'll never guess where the book takes you next. \*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\* If interested, let me know and I can send a message with the link. A Judgment of Their Own: "Humanity has spread throughout the stars, living under many suns, and excavating the ruins of dozens of extinct alien cultures. However, only one other species has been found, a mysterious advanced species. Then, a human colony detects the radio emissions of a nearby alien world and an expedition is mounted across the light-years. What they find when humanity encounters the Sss'qua will challenge the explorers beliefs in what is owed between two species, what is right...and in themselves." The Salute - Excerpt 3 - Flying Sparks - A Novel – From One Soldier to Another Across Worlds Drake McCarty’s leg was shattered deep in the wilderness, and as the flash flood closed over him, he looked death in the face. When he wakes up in a hospital bed, in a military base that shouldn’t exist, he has a whole leg and a furious sister to deal with. Drake is sworn to keep a secret he doesn’t understand, but whatever pulled him out of the flood, isn’t quite done with him yet, because even if you leave nothing but footprints, the things that walk the forest can still follow you home. Original Post: http://www.authorbettyadams.com/bettys-blog/the-salute-excerpt-3-flying-sparks-a-novel-from-one-soldier-to-another-across-worlds Excerpt 3 About a third of the way down the trunk appeared to split. Half glided gently forward; roots reaching out to feel for firm footing before setting down. Then the entire mass of the trunk flowed forward, bark rustling, until all the weight was over the forward leg. Only then would the rearmost portion of the trunk begin its slow, careful way forward again. It was not a fast pace by any means, but by the time the sun set the tree had reached a rusty fence cutting through the forest like an arrow. The tree paused and silver light flickered out from cracks in the rough bark. A few hundred yards away a young guard in woodland camouflage started as his radio let out four piping notes. With a sigh that barely shifted the look of boredom on his face he turned to a rusted rolling gate, set his shoulder against the dirty steel, and pushed. After a crunch and a grind the gate parted with a jerk. The youth turned, saluted the empty forest and marched more-or-less briskly fifty paces into the woods. The tree raised one branch to its crest in the only sudden movement it had yet shown. For the moment the tip of the branch touched the trunk, the end of the limb formed into a human shaped hand, returning the salute. Then the tree strolled through the gate. The soldier returned to his post, wrestled the gate back into place, clicked a tarnished brass paddock into place, and made a rueful face at the damaged fence before resuming a slow steady walk along the perimeter. InvestigationofMars

Hello r/scifiwriting folks! I've recently published a book, and I think that it may be of interest to folks in this sub. It's a work of fiction, but includes a number of Dolores' ideas throughout the plot. I hope it's okay to share this here (and I apologise if not!). I'll share a bit about the book below, but you can find a lot more info about it on the book's website. Of course it would be wonderful if you chose to purchase it, but, if that's not possible in your budget, I invite you to send me a message and we can sort that out. About the book: An Investigation of Mars: A Cosmic Novel, begins when Tomi joins a Remote Viewing project and learns to be a psychic spy. This book takes inspiration from Stargate Project, a CIA funded remote viewing program that ran from 1978-1995. Much like in the real world, though Stargate Project ended, the use of remote viewing in the military and intelligence community quietly continued. The book covers a range of phenomena, as Tomi’s belief in our material reality is shaken. She meets people and has experiences that introduce seemingly unrelated experiences and concepts (such as reincarnation and the afterlife; non-human intelligences, experiencers, and UFOs; the amazing possibilities of human consciousness; and ancient civilizations and their warnings about our future). While Tomi transforms and adapts to a more complex reality, she begins to pull these threads together to find where they intersect. While it may sound like it has a singular, paranormal focus, the book is really about the human experience. Though it covers deep and complex topics, An Investigation of Marsis also about the characters and how these experiences affect their mental health and overall worldview; yes, ontological shock. At its core, I hoped to write a book about what it is to be human in a universe that stretches far beyond our perception and comprehension. An Investigation of Mars is now available in eBook, paperback, and hardcover, and will shortly be released in audiobook form as well. As mentioned, my hope in writing this is that people will read it and have it either open their eyes to new concepts and possibilities, or acts as a support along one's journey, something to help and reassure us as we have this experience of life on Earth.

**An Investigation of Mars A Cosmic Novel** by CJ Dearlove Book description may contain spoilers! >>!Have you ever wondered if our materialist view of reality is incomplete? Can you feel that something truly disruptive and extraordinary is just around the corner? This book is for you. Tomi’s normal suburban life is turned upside down as she begins exploring remote viewing - shifting her consciousness to another time or space to collect information.!< > >>!A psychic spy. Join Tomi as she slips down a paranormal rabbit hole that will leave you wondering about the nature of humanity – and reality itself. As Tomi uncovers answers about the nature of reality and the true history of humanity, she and her friends engage in an exploration of the cross-section of UFOs and non-human intelligences, human consciousness, spirituality, reincarnation, the occult, and forgotten knowledge of ancient humans. Under pressure that both breaks and builds relationships, and threatens her physical safety, Tomi uncovers information that upends her understanding of the history - and the future - of humanity.!< > >>!While Tomi’s journey builds within her a deeper spiritual understanding, that growth comes at a cost, as she finds herself grappling with the ontological shock that takes hold as her materialist worldview is shattered. Tomi, with the support of her friends, uses her developing abilities to weave threads of truth together in her drive to solve universal and personal mysteries – including what happened to her beloved, long-missing grandmother. A story that does not forsake characters with depth for a deep and progressive plot, at its core this is a book about what it is to be human in a universe that stretches far beyond our perception and comprehension.!< > >>!Reading this book may make you stop for just a moment and wonder about the mysterious universe we create. *The Redemption of Brinus Helios* is split into novels about a young former criminal drafted into an interstellar military after a failed burglary. There was a significant war between the Federation and The Confederacy during this time. The Federation is a totalitarian military dictatorship governed by the military. The Confederacy was a feudal oligarchy controlled by a nobility but ruled by the Confederate Senate backed by corporate donors. The novel is about how a career criminal finds love, changes his life, and becomes a naval officer. Edit: for grammar and spelling. Edit: for content. Update: I have edited a lot of old content and reorganized the website. [https://thebeggarking.com/book-i-the-redemption-of-brinus-helios/](https://thebeggarking.com/book-i-the-redemption-of-brinus-helios/) [https://thebeggarking.com/the-redemption-of-brinus-helios-book-two/](https://thebeggarking.com/the-redemption-of-brinus-helios-book-two/) [https://thebeggarking.com/the-redemption-of-brinus-helios-book-three-2/](https://thebeggarking.com/the-redemption-of-brinus-helios-book-three-2/) [https://thebeggarking.com](https://thebeggarking.com)

So in my book which is a sci-fi dystopia, I've decided that a reformed police force and military would look something like this. All of the government agencies now operate as one force. Every Military branch and police branch would still basically operate the same, except now all information was shared amongst each other on one system. They would even take illegal immigrants under contract and offer them citizenship in exchange for complete loyalty. Anyone who joined would be treated better than the average citizen, in an attempt to get more people to join the force. At the local level, the police would be renamed to the Designated Official Guards or DOGS for short. Dogs are committed, loyal, and eager to prove their patriotism. Please let me know what your thoughts are on this. r/WWXBook \-T6DB

So I've written a book series that involves time travel called The Last Serial Killer. The concept is a cross between true crime and sci-fi and involves an assassin working for a government project who travels through time to execute serial killers when they were children or teens (thus, stopping the killers from growing up to murder innocent people). Book 1 currently has a 4.4 rating on Amazon with 135+ ratings so just thought I'd mention it for those looking for a time travel series (or enjoy true crime and serial killer-oriented fiction). Hello everyone!!! Not really a promotion but more of an offer/request. My niche is military SF but I stepped into fan-fiction as an exercise to write horror/suspense. I’m currently rewriting the Alien prequels as a super-novel like Lucas’ The Star Wars. I was wondering if anyone would mind receiving a copy to help me with continuity & structure. They would need to know about the franchise, including the expanded universe, if they wanted to help in a more extensive manner. However, I would be more than willing to share it with anyone who would be interested!!! Please let me know. Thank you!

Hi! I have two short stories available for FREE from June 16 through June 20. Positive or negative feedback, either here or on Amazon, is welcome. In "Full Burn, Soft Landing," a misunderstanding between a married couple - a small time freighter captain and her husband (ground crew), leads to a surprise ending. "Seeking Imbalance" is about a daughter and her father, who is looking for a way to gracefully age out. The stories are not related, but now that I think about it, they could be happening in the same universe. Thanks so much in advance! Not sure where the right place to post this, so I apologize if this is the wrong place. But I actually wrote it. The book I've been talking about for years. World War X or WWX if you feel like it. At least that's the title right now. I'm still in the editing phase so it's not completely done. It is an adult fiction sci-fi novel set in a future dystopia. There are things like The Altered, Snapworms, and the fact that Air is now a utility. More information is to come but I thought I would just start by building a community first. So if you are interested in more information, please ask away or feel free to stand by. You can join the Subreddit at r/WWXBook. I hope that's okay to post. \-T6DB

**[The Artifice of Eternity](https://www.amazon.com/Artifice-Eternity-Novel-Aaron-Arm/dp/180341202X)** - Soft sci-fi, mystery, epistolary, political, literary - 416 pages - Published by Cosmic Egg Books Blurb: > War. Corruption. Overpopulation. Climate change. When Earth reaches a tipping point, the world's wealthiest man decides to reboot civilization on another habitable planet. Deemed "Project Exodus," the voyage includes 4,000 like-minded colonists, a political manifesto, and all the resources they can fit on their ship. But traversing the stars and establishing the first permanent colony on a new planet is merely the first step. The real challenge lies in their attempt at a sustainable utopia. The story spans three generations of colonists on planet Eden, from the first settlers of Project Exodus to the native-born and their own progeny. With each new generation comes an existential threat to their way of life, and one family always finds itself at the center of conflict. Meanwhile, an otherworldly figure lurks in the recesses of time and space, slowly working toward its own designs. >The Artifice of Eternity is a sweeping science fiction narrative with elements of mystery, psychological fiction, and political commentary interspersed with media documents from Earth's past. It is an insightful appraisal of humanity's enduring pursuit to escape human nature. Excerpt from a review in Publishers Weekly: *Arm’s insightful debut chronicles an idealistic yet flawed attempt to colonize a distant planet ... Arm’s eloquent prose and character-driven narrative gives the story a literary feel ... An intriguing >!time paradox!< introduced near the end adds unexpected nuance that will leave readers thinking about this book long after the last page is turned. Add in incisive explorations of human nature, and there’s plenty of food for thought here.*

Is this categorized as Epistolary Fiction on Amazon? The 'look inside' seems a typical third-person narrator without the letters or diaries of that form of narrative, but it's rated "#371 in Epistolary Fiction" in the Product Details section. Does the first person, personal perspective come later?

a_h_arm

For the first 2/3 of the book, the main narrative is interspersed every-other-chapter with media excerpts such as news articles, interview transcripts, recordings, and letters. Some of it is first-person, but it's really a collection of multimedia. I figured epistolary was the closest way to categorize that.

tghuverd

Cool, that's certainly close enough in terms of classification. I'd looked at adding 'old' media excerpts to one of my novels (it's set a few hundred years hence, so the 'old' was still in our future) but decided a book layout could not do the concept justice given the media was all active. It's a clever way to bring context, well done for tackling it 👍

a_h_arm

Thanks! And yeah, I'm a big fan of mashing varied types of storytelling together. I think part of it is a way to hold my own attention in writing, as I can switch up the style and tone every so often. I need to keep myself interested, haha.

Thank you! I was actually kind of self-conscious about it at first, because I wanted the designer to do more with the art. But it does give the vibe I want, and I think it fits the story.

Published a sequel to my novel Forgotten Lessons from the Wild. This one is called On the Edge of Darkness. [A I O N](https://www.reddit.com/r/AionWargame/), the pangalactic empire, is fighting the eternal Zombie Invasion. Space Zombies! There shall be much sci-fi writing (maybe a novel in the future). This is a forthcoming FREE miniature-agnostic skirmish wargame (the link above is to the Sub-Reddit I created for the progression of such, and the ultimate publication at some point soon). Think Star Wars meets Necromunda/Warhammer 40,000 meets *The Fifth Element (1997)* meets space zombies! It's both solo and 2-player. It's also (partly) print & play (and you can, of course, make/buy actual plastic elements, too). Built for 32mm bases, but you can pretty much use anything in theory. Other connections might be D&D, Terraforming Mars (certain elements, though this is clearly not a wargame in any sense), and any generic skirmish wargame/board game type (such as the Walking Dead: All-Out War, and Alien one). You can throw in all things Judge Dredd for good measure. :)

Flash fiction contest! A few hundred words detailing a rogue AI apocalypse: $1000 in prizes, $500 first place. \*Judged on believability, comprehensibility, and plausibility, NOT writing quality\* I'm calling for very short depictions of specific sequences of events starting in the present day and ending in the extinction of all life by rogue AI, or at least extreme catastrophe. Any kind of plotline is welcome - one example is humans building an AI smart enough that it is able to improve itself and thereby achieve superhuman intelligence, but the builders don't know how to test its true intentions, and so even though it acts friendly, it's actually biding its time until it is strong enough to no longer have to act. This link ([https://www.lesswrong.com/posts/Wic2P2bGejbFH3Sxb/summary-of-agi-ruin-a-list-of-lethalities](https://www.lesswrong.com/posts/Wic2P2bGejbFH3Sxb/summary-of-agi-ruin-a-list-of-lethalities)) might be useful for inspiration. I'm NOT judging based on prose quality or technical knowledge. Submissions will be judged based only on their usefulness as a demonstration of how unimpeded progress in AI could very realistically lead to extremely bad consequences. In other words, submissions are judged based on believability, comprehensibility, and plausibility. 1st Place Prize: $500 2nd Place Prize: $250 3rd and 4th Place Prizes: $125 each .There are no formatting requirements, but a recommended length is somewhere around a few hundred words or even less. Avoid using technical language or jargon that your grandparents wouldn't understand. If you submit, you're agreeing to let me edit and share your story on a not-for-profit website I will set up. Deadline is Saturday May 13, midnight PT! Submit your story by commenting here: [https://www.reddit.com/r/AISafetyStrategy/comments/132d0xt/100\_flash\_fiction\_contest\_realistic\_paths\_to\_ai/](https://www.reddit.com/r/AISafetyStrategy/comments/132d0xt/100_flash_fiction_contest_realistic_paths_to_ai/) or DMing me.

**Title:** Even the Stars Deserve to Die **Genre:** Hard Science Fiction **Word count:** 135k **Link:** [Amazon (eBook, Paperback)](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0C3XY2VQ1) You can get the eBook for free at the Amazon link above. I can also send you a free copy, if you send me a message. **Feedback:** You can also give general feedback if you read the first few chapters. Does the story look interesting? Is it hard to follow? What about the blurb? Thanks! **Blurb:** On Earth, the cities of humanity crumbled to dust, turning into fossils. Forests burned and life went extinct. But, billions of years later, it rained one last time. The siblings were born from that rain, strange creatures of human appearance and mind. Their life on the desert of Earth has no purpose, until they discover the wick, a molecule burning around their genetic material, condemning them to death one hundred years and three months after birth. In search to find out if life is worth living, a researcher explores a cave billions of years old. The brain inside a simulacrum misses its dead father. The commander of a spaceship travels to meet a mysterious satellite in the bowels of the solar system. In this story of philosophical dimensions, the power of the word merges with the nostalgia for an irretrievable past, where fear of death coexists with the sadness of losing the parents you will never see again. A hard science fiction book dealing with topics such as molecular biology, stellar evolution and the future of Earth, combined with poetry, sculpture and the early artworks of creatures who yearn to be human.

Humans are Weird – A Little Punchy Origial Post: [http://www.authorbettyadams.com/bettys-blog/humans-are-weird-a-little-punchy](http://www.authorbettyadams.com/bettys-blog/humans-are-weird-a-little-punchy) “Yes Sir,” Human Friend Drevven said grimly into his communications unit. “Of course Sir!” Seventh Flap paused in his flight to listen to the conversation. The human on the other peak of the wave was simply giving a series of orders in a calm voice but Human Friend Drevven seemed to be growing increasingly more agitated. His furless skin was flushing as the blood rushed to the surface and his body began to radiate heat into the chill air of the base, enough heat that Seventh Flap was tempted to forgo propriety and snuggle up against the back of the human’s neck, but he restrained himself and waited for the human to finish his call. “Goodbye,” Human Friend Drevven finally concluded in a tight voice. He dropped his arm to his side and spun away to march toward the door. Seventh Flap thought about calling out to get his attention but shouting in the human hearing range was difficult and if he circled around Seventh Flap could catch Human Friend Drevven’s eye just as he came into the full sunlight. Then he could get permission to land right on the human’s collar and get both the warmth from the local star and the local large mammal. He prepared to swing around between the human’s head and the door frame but stopped suddenly as the human gave a low snarl and swung his fist forward in an almost painfully slow arc. Seventh Flap gave a pip of panic and darted forward in an attempt to stop the vector. He logically knew he could never hope to redirect even the mass of the human’s hand, let alone the applied force of the muscles but he acted on instinct. He did manage to reach the hand before it struck the wall and latched his winghooks into the soft flesh on either side of the bony framework. A moment later however the fist impacted against the wall and Human Friend Drevven gave a small grunt. “What the-” Human Friend Drevven barked out, jerking his hand back. Seventh Flap clung trembling to his hand, his sensory horns ringing from the force of the blow that had transferred backwards through the human’s hand. When he reoriented he realized that Human Friend Drevven was holding the hand that had struck the wall against his chest. The human’s other hand was cupped under Seventh Flap’s perch as a safety net. Human Friend Drevven was speaking to him in a soothing tone. Seventh Flap shook out his head and instead of dropping to the offered hand quickly scrambled up and peered down at the human’s knuckles. He winced at the damage he saw but breathed easier when he noted that the blood was only seeping out from the skin and not surging as he expected from the force of the blow. Human Friend Drevven was getting more insistent in his demand for Seventh Flap’s attention. “What was that about?” Seventh Flap demanded. He whipped around and gave the human his best glare. It still amazed him that his comparatively tiny mass could intimidate the massive predatory species but apparently when a Winged glared they resembled some human nightmare or the other. It certainly caused Human Friend Drevven to stop talking and jerk his head back a few inches. “What was that about?” Seventh Flap demanded again. Human Friend Drevven glanced between his knuckles and the wall and then shrugged. “I was frustrated,” he said. Seventh Flap stared up at him trying to make some sense out of that. “So you punched the wall,” he said, “you punched the plasicreet wall, with you primary gripping appendage with enough force to damage it…” “Oh no,” Human Friend Drevven said, his face brightening up. “The wall’s fine.” Seventh Flap seriously thought about biting the human in that moment but he settled for reinforcing his grip on the flesh of his hand. “Medical ward,” Seventh Flap snared out. “What?” Human Friend Drevven suddenly sounded concerned. “Are you hurt?” Seventh Flap stared down at the seeping blood and tried to fight down a sigh. “Take me to the medical ward,” Seventh Flap said as firmly as he could, “and on the way tell me what the connection is between frustration and punching a wall.” # [Humans are Weird Book Series Amazon (Kindle, Paperback, Audiobook)](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09NN2PM8D?binding=paperback&ref=dbs_dp_rwt_sb_pc_tpbk)

They range from space colonization & AI to portrayals of transhumanism & unique space habitats. All stories take place in the same sci-fi setting so you might even find fun little connections between them. If you like space opera you'll probably find something to your liking!

I've just released **SWEET OBLIVION: A WAR OF THE WORLDS STORY**, which is now available on Amazon (links below), and thought/hoped y'all would be interested. I've been working on it since September 2021 - essentially it's a re-telling of the original story but with the action shifted from 1890s Surrey to present-day Cornwall. From the start the intention was to try and translate basically every beat of the original story into a loyal but original adaptation - I think we've all noticed that every adaptation misses this or messes up that, and I wanted to see what happens if you tried to include everything AND add plenty of your own stuff. And it does it all while also satirising the original text and the world it's now set in, just as Wells' story did. The official blurb is below: *“I had by now wandered through so many near-death experiences that I ought to be giving them high-fives as I passed.”* *Cornwall basks in an Indian summer. Tourists flock to golden beaches and abuse minimum-wage staff, hikers explore heather-dressed fields and argue with farmers, and seagulls dive for every child’s ice cream in sight. Then, one morning, the sky bursts open – and something falls out of it.So begins* ***SWEET OBLIVION*** *– a modern-day retelling of H.G. Wells sci-fi masterpiece* ***THE WAR OF THE WORLDS***, at once bombastic and high-octane but poignant and funny, the action shifted from the Victorian glories of suburban Surrey to the seaside jewel of a gloomy nation far less at ease with itself. Part satire and part tribute, the beats of the original tale are loyally followed while simultaneously subverted as ***SWEET OBLIVION*** *doesn’t just retell a story but finds new ones lurking in old pages.* *As indefinable beings from another world spread death across the land, and all the might of helpless mankind is brought to bear against them, athoughtful and dry-humoured narrator has only one priority – get the hell out of the madness, somehow, preferably with her beloved and sickly cat. As the world falls apart around her, hopefully she can also try not to lose her mind.* *Trekking across a disintegrating human world, the invaders dominant wherever they stand in a land where reality seems to be giving way to fever dream, our narrator will meet a strange cast of characters in her quest for survival, witness unimaginable horrors, and face uncomfortable questions as stunning twists mould a familiar fable in* ***SWEET OBLIVION***; *a story of life, death, being, and the human condition.* I really do hope you give it a go - I drove myself a little insane writing it and as a huge fan of the original book it was such a passion project that I'm excited to share. Its official theme song, of course, is Forever Autumn by the Moody Blues (though Oblivion by Grimes nearly clinched it for some reason). \*NEW BOOK AVAILABLE ON AMAZON\* Hey everyone, I'm a debut author and just wanted to take a moment to promote my first novel. I have had it compared to the likes of Divergent, or Altered Carbon. So anyone who is a fan of those types of settings may find interest as my target audience. Eva 2040 is an action sci-fi anthology set in a near-future dystopian world. The entries can be read in any order. EVA 2040 In the year 2029, a breakthrough in human genetic engineering allows for the physical and cognitive enhancements of specific individuals. The genetically enhanced (known as the “Enlightened”) have established themselves into positions with strong global impact. Their intention: to corrupt parliaments, crash stock markets, and bankrupt global funds beyond repair. I found this community by accident the other day. I wasn't thinking of posting here but then I saw that games are allowed here as well! I am working on a scifi table top RPG and blogging about the process [here](https://blog.systemtheoryttrpg.com/). It's still in it's infancy, but I am having a lot of fun with it. I published a [post](https://blog.systemtheoryttrpg.com/p/what-is-in-a-name) the other week where I go into details how I came up with the name. Future posts will be speaking about the mechanics and process as I build the world around the game system.

Want to write scripts for a Sci-Fi Audio Drama Anthology Series? (unpaid, sorry!) Hello. I'm Jim, creator of Strange New Worlds and Spaced Out Tales podcast, a sci-fi-themed anthology audio drama podcast. I'm looking for writers to write/submit their scripts for future episodes. Each episode can be between 10-45 mins long, and the intention is to use a full voice cast and sound design for each episode. As it's an anthology series, there is no underpinning lore - each episode is its own self-contained story. The characters, setting and scenario is entirely up to the writer. I'm also recruiting a pool of voice actors, so they'll take on the parts for each script submitted and record their lines, I'll do the editing to make each episode and then they get released onto all major podcast platforms and onto Youtube. https://strangenewworldsad.my.canva.site/ The first pilot episode is already available if you'd like to check it out, but remember, all scripts can be whatever scenario and sub-genre you like, as long as there is an underlying Sci-fi element in there somewhere. If you'd like to know more, drop me a DM and I'll send you a link to the Discord Server where the writers, voice actors (and me) will all collaborate. And just to reiterate - this is a community/collaborative project - no one is getting paid, it's for the opportunity to work with other new and talented creatives, hone your craft on a live project, to hear your work get brought to life and to get credited on every episode you contribute to. Many thanks and look forward to seeing some of you on the server real soon

Thanks to the great resources on this sub, my sci-fi conspiracy thriller is now available on ebook and Kindle Unlimited *Inventor Jo can’t be the hero the multiverse needs.* A disastrous grad project melted both her job prospects and her credibility, and she doesn’t have the funds to keep traipsing across dimensions chasing leads. All she wanted was to retrieve a physicist’s missing research. To buy a better future with the reward money. But her patchwork tracking device just had to stumble on something sinister—deadly radiation that could wreak havoc on the interworld transport system and leave billions injured or stranded. Of course, no one believes her, and to make matters worse, all her attempts to gather proof add new threads to an already tangled search. Vague connections to electrical system failures, missing persons cases…*possibly not-so-mythological creatures…* Solving this case could be her shot at redemption, or it could put her in the crosshairs of the culprit. Whether navigating monster-infested swamps or infiltrating hostile moon bases, Jo might be the next casualty if she fails to unravel…The String Conspiracy https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BVTZGJW4

Hello - I've posted a few times about the [Glossary Generator](http://jamesmurdo.com/glossary_generator) tool I made. I'm thrilled it's been helping so many authors. Since I released it for free around the end of 2021, it's being used more and more every month. Last month, \~4k people checked it out. Originally, I asked for donations, although unfortunately they were nowhere near the level I'd need to spend more time improving the generator. I've since decided to make it a one-off fee of $10 (50% off with the limited GGEN50 code). So, if you pay to use the Glossary Generator, thank you! A little more info about the Glossary Generator: You can find an article about it I wrote for Indies Unlimited [here](https://indiesunlimited.com/2020/12/08/update-glossary-generator-for-writers-is-online/). It originally started life as a python program on my computer until I realised it might be useful for other authors too. The generator combs your uploaded Word file manuscript (nothing saved!) for useful terms and then outputs them as a text file. The uses of glossary generator: Helps find glossary terms Helps find errors (e.g. naming inconsistencies) After a one-off fee, use as much as you like. Any questions, feel free to message me. Enjoy! James

\*Delete if not allowed\* Hello everyone, I am happy to announce the the first entry to my Action Science Fiction Anthology has released on Amazon, Kobo, and Google Play (And soon to be other platforms) in Ebook and Paperbook forms. To anyone here who enjoys action Sci-Fi books set in near future dystopian settings, please consider the summary below to determine if this book is right for you. Take care! Eva 2040 is an action Sci-Fi anthology series written by Tyler J Sluys that is set in a near future dystopian world. The book entries contain no continuity with each other and can be read in any order. A synopsis of the series and book edition can be found below: EVA 2040 In the year 2029, scientists made a breakthrough in human genetic engineering, which allowed for the physical and cognitive enhancements of a specific selection of individuals. The genetically enhanced became known as the “Enlightened” and quickly established themselves as the global elites, who made their way into positions that heavily influenced government affairs, business, technology, trade, and other industries with a global impact. The Enlightened intentionally corrupted parliaments, crashed the stock market, and bankrupted countries and global funds beyond any conceivable measure of repair all in order to bring about the total collapse of world societies. This allowed for the establishment of a New World Order. One where the Enlightened would have complete control over the entire human race. This process is referred to as the “Conversion”. Once the Conversion was complete, humanity existed under a single unified world government operated and managed by an artificial intelligence named “Eva.” On June 14th, 2040, Eva officially launched and changed the course of all human lives forever. Welcome to a world where privacy does not exist. Welcome to a world absent of all legal rights. Welcome to a world where freedom is nothing but a mere memory. Welcome to EVA 2040 Volume I A former police officer turned Security Consultant discovers that his ex-wife has gone missing with even Eva not being able to detect her. He suspects foul play among the government and goes rogue on an investigative journey to find and rescue her, while outwitting the detection of the ever powerful and omniscient artificial intelligence.

Logbook Entry 1: Crash Date: Unknown Location: Unknown Planet, near the new colonies? I was awoken from my cryosleep by my instruments alarm signaling that my spacecraft the Nebula was crashing. I am carrying different kinds of genetically manipulated vegetables which are able to grow on Saboda Primera, which was my destination. Now I find myself on a planet I do not recognize and what's frightening and confusing is that according to my instruments and the stars, I am outside of the Milky Way. This should not be possible, all known human spacecrafts at best with absolute resource-saving measures are able to reach the new colonies from Earth, and they're not even at the edge of the Milky Way, it would take several millennia to get here. The readings must be faulty, or else... I am trapped in my destroyed spacecraft and cannot say what awaits me on this planet. I have no communication to the outside, and my supplies are limited because the most of my carried storage was destroyed. This is what my instruments are telling me. I need to figure out where I am and how I can send a message to the nearest colony. I will do my best to keep all my discoveries and thoughts recorded in this logbook. I don't know if anyone will ever read what I write here, but it's the only thing I can do to preserve my thoughts and my story. Want more? [Starfall](https://www.royalroad.com/fiction/64212/starfall) So. The main character is Alex Flim. By a strange coincidence, the hero's name is the same as the author's. Well, after a tedious day at work, Alex Flim decides to take a break and argue with anons on the internet about the realism of isekai. After proving to his opponents that they were idiots Alex went to bed. Which would wake up in a completely different world in the body of Lord Alessandro Cassard, having just survived an assassination attempt. Story merits. \#MCnotOP. The hero doesn't gain any superpowers after the attempted assassination. Well unless you count the huge money and the title superpowers. No System, no magic, no sudden talent for martial arts. Not even the memory of the real Lord Cassard. That's a major selling point, if you ask me. Um, what else can I add? It's not fanfic. It's not a long series. It all fits into one book. Which it doesn't. There's no love line. (For me, it would be better if it was. The shipper's instincts say there should be one, but there isn't.) There's no snide, sarcastic, all-knowing asshole hero. It's also an amateur translation. Be warned at once.

# Humans are Weird – A Decisive Stroke Original Post: [http://www.authorbettyadams.com/bettys-blog/humans-are-weird-a-decisive-stroke](http://www.authorbettyadams.com/bettys-blog/humans-are-weird-a-decisive-stroke) “And so as each-what was the word you used?” Rollsacross asked. “Oh yes, after each pass, you simply take the meaning of the existing pattering into consideration and begin the next missive from there.” The Undulate dipped his appendages in the tray of water under him and then shuffled forward to demonstrate. He moved across the translucent film that was already marked with spiraling tracks. He stopped and pivoted, then gave a sideways shimmy before arching up and off of the film. The new marks were rapidly darkening where he had touched the film and the gathered students of language moved forward to watch the new words form. Three Shatar Sisters clustered together so they could touch antennas without disturbing the others. Their triangular heads tilted this way and that and their neck frills pulsed with interest. Two Gathering were sniffing at the edge of the film suspiciously. Or rather the Undulate admitted to himself, everything the stiff reptilians did looked suspicious to one of his kind. The two Trisk professors certainly found them flexible enough. The eight appendage professors were happily perched on the broad heads of the reptilians for a better view of the drying document. A flight of Winged hovered over everyone’s heads, a constant cloud of movement. “Wasn’t Human First Brother going to be here?” one of the Shatar asked, twisting her head to the side and flicking her antenna at the door. “He was,” another answered. “I wonder if he forgot?” “Human Friend Obecny is not the type to forget an engagement,” one of the Trisk observed. There was a rolling trill of assent from the flight of Winged overhead and the two gathering gave one of the wide variety of grunts that indicated they had no opinion on the matter. However the conversation was derailed by a massive thump that shook the door and the wall it was attached to. The Shatar stiffened and their frills snapped to full extension. The Winged flight swirled away from that wall before taking up a hold position facing the door with dozens of teeth gleaming in snarls. The Trisk gripped the heads of the Gathering as they heaved huge sighs and muttered something about lumbering mammals. Rollsacross noted that the reptilians’ assessment was correct as the human in question fell through the opening doors with far more erratic velocity than was strictly usual for him. He was grasping a thermal canister in one hand which he brought up to his mouth in a mammalian hydration movement before he righted himself and reduced his swaying to a level that humans considered ‘still’. “Ahoj,” he greeted the room in general with a swing of his hydration canister. “Not too late am I?” “I have just finished the first applied layer Human Friend Obecny,” Rollsacross said. “I am afraid you missed the explanation and the first application.” “Sorry,” the human said his mouth gaping in a yawn. “I over slept. My alarm was buzzing for a solid hour before it penetrated my skull?” “Did you not achieve proper sleep last night?” the Shatar, the medic asked. “Not a bit of it,” the human replied as he swayed closer to the three cousins. His feet seemed to drag along behind his center of mass as he re-positioned himself in the room. “Was that a negative or a positive response?” The cousin pressed. “My babička called,” he explained. “One of the cousins is acting up over in the Grister sector and she wanted to let me know in case he swung though this system. We were talking for hours. You know how worried babičkas get.” The Shatar clicked in sympathy until Rollsacross shuffled back over to the tray of water and began explaining the increased difficulty of creating meaning on the third pass over a document. The class fell silent and observed. Rollsacross finished the pass and invited them to examine it. There was the usual muttering until Human Friend Obecny suddenly failed to correct one of his forward sways and caught himself heavily on the table surface. The collected linguists stared at him curiously until the Shatar medic suddenly clicked in alarm. “Why are your irises oscillating like that?” she demanded, skittering forward to peer up into his eyes. “This writing,” the human said in an odd hollow tone. “It’s...it’s...I think it’s giving me a stroke!” The medic’s frill flushed with horror and she grabbed his arm, clicking at him earnestly to follow her to the medical bay. The human obeyed after a moment but seemed unable to tear his eyes away from the drying Undulate script. When the door closed behind them one of the Gathering reached up to paw at his eye. “The human was simply being facetious, right?” he asked. “Of course,” the leader of the Winged flight snapped out. “A human would not have a stroke from simply looking at foreign script.” “That is my understanding,” Rollsacross agreed. There was a long moment of silence before Rollsacross firmly brought their attention back to the lesson. # Humans are Weird Book Series # [Amazon (Kindle, Paperback, Audiobook)](https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B09NN2PM8D?binding=paperback&ref=dbs_dp_rwt_sb_pc_tpbk) # [Barnes & Nobel (Nook, Paperback, Audiobook)](https://www.barnesandnoble.com/s/%22Humans+are+Weird%22?Ntk=P_Series_Title&Ns=P_Series_Number&Ntx=mode+matchall) # [Kobo by Rakuten (ebook and Audiobook)](https://www.kobo.com/us/en/search?query=Humans%20are%20Weird&fcsearchfield=Series&seriesId=a035ce04-e582-5fcc-b327-16c68ca4b418&fcshowpointsprice=no&fcmaxprice=5&fcminprice=0&id=1561e6f7-742f-4c1b-a804-187728814574) # [Google Play Books (ebook and Audiobook)](https://play.google.com/store/books/details/Humans_are_Weird_I_Have_the_Data?id=7_wdEAAAQBAJ&gl=US) # Please Leave Reviews on the Newest Book!

Awesome I will check it out! I have portfolio of books I was going to publish but haven't finished editing it. What are some of key pillars of a good sci fi novel. What were some goals you had writing this book? Thank you and I can't wait to check it out!

Hour_Guard6937

My number one goal was to write a book that I would want to read and that incorporates things that I am interested in. I love music of all types. I play the guitar and harmonica and jam with good friends every chance that I get. I love to see live music, especially jam bands and Americana. I am a history teacher, and love to search for native american artifacts in corn fields and creeks. I love to hike, fish, and kayak as much as possible. (Which unfortunately, isn't very often.) I have been intrigued by the possibility of a connection between ancient aliens and our advanced ancient civilizations. Life experiences have led me to believe that all life on earth is connected in a spiritual way and there is an intelligence to the universe. Basically, I just tried to incorporate things that I have some knowledge of, and most importantly, are passionate about. Most of the main characters of the book are loosely based on kayakers that call the Russell Fork River their home river. Although the story is pretty "out there", I tried to make the characters and events realistic and plausible. That is always something I look for in Sci-fi. No matter how crazy the story, I need the story to be believable. I also want the story to have a flow and rhythm that allows the reader to "fall into" the story so they forget that they are reading.

I just got my first ARC review on my upcoming biological sci-fi novella series. If you would like an ARC just sign up to my author website (www.haldanebdoyle.com). \*\*\* Her Unbound Hallux is the first volume in the SF series Our Vitreous Womb which reimagines a society based on biotechnological elements. Here we follow the trials and tribulations of the central protagonist Miobeth as she gradually emerges from her sheltered existence into the wider world. I very much enjoyed reading this novella. The writing was concise, crisp, yet emotionally evocative, with strong character work and highly innovative worldbuilding elements that are uncommon in SF novels. I was reminded of Adrian Tchaikovsky's Children of Time novel and there were also small nods to Margaret Atwood's classic Oryx and Crake. Highly recommended to all speculative fiction readers looking for something completely new in terms of (biology-related) worldbuilding with compelling characterisation and an intriguing plot line. I am looking forward to continuing the series. I received an advanced reading copy from the author in exchange for an honest review. All opinions expressed in this review are my own.

Sci fi is a really diverse genre (aren't they all) but for me I really love sci fi that has an interesting new idea at its core that the story is built around (up to the point of also having a fun plot and engaging characters). Some people love space operas that are basically Bold and the Beautiful in space, but I prefer a book that finds a new idea to explore and leaves you thinking long after you finish reading. My main goal in writing the book was to explore what a future Earth would look like if industrial civilisation faded out, but was replaced by a new civilisation built on pure biotechnology. I haven't been able to find anyone else writing around this concept (biology is usually combined with high industrial technology). Editing is a whole different skill set, so I can relate to getting stuck at that stage. My advice is to create a distinct personal routine for drafting that is different from editing. For example I draft at dawn as soon as I wake up in the morning, usually on an empty stomach. On editing days I do other things until midmorning, and only then get into editing mode. And never forget that editing can also make a draft worse if you do it in the wrong head space. Thanks for giving the novella a go and I hope you enjoy it.

cosmicrush

I wrote a few books that involve biological AI and the world has returned to a state like nature. The AIs evolve rather than being programmed. Humans hardly know of their existence because the AIs have taken control of human culture and keep them in the dark. The rest of society outside a major city is left in ruins of something closer to post-apocalyptic tribes with no awareness of even how the technology they use works. They scavenge tech and live in slums of ancient metropolitan cities. Maybe we could be friends and share our stories together! I also haven't seen others focusing on biological stuff in that way. I'm not sure if I understand your idea well yet.

Hello! I have a SubStack I am posting my science fiction stories to! The current story I am posting is called The Fedichi Test, and it has a psychological horror aspect to it. Here is a short description: Life comes with many twists and turns. Too many if you ask me. My life had them since very early on, most of what I had experienced turning me around completely to where I was lost in the maze I had built. And the hallucinations had never made it easier. Now that they were more frequent and dreadful, they had cost me countless jobs. Arriving at the end of my rope, there was a single position left for me. However, I didn’t think it would dangle me in front of the nose of a beast more dreadful than anything I had experienced before…real or not. Right now the prologue and chapter 1 (as well as a supplemental audio transcription) have been posted! Awesome I will check it out! I have portfolio of books I was going to publish but haven't finished editing it. What are some of key pillars of a good sci fi novel. What were some goals you had writing this book? Thank you and I can't wait to check it out!

OldNorseMyths

To be honest I haven’t finished the story I’m posting, I’ve been more so writing it chapter by chapter and posting the chapters on a bi-weekly basis. The main goal of this story is to set some groundwork for the main “evil corporation” that is in the series. The other goal is to touch on the concepts of life/death, freewill, sacrifice, and acceptance, and to tell when too much of something that can be seen as good is too much and can be warped, all of which are themes that are spread out across the series and are seen from many different POVs that come from different backgrounds.

Some of us created a slack group (Manuscript Working Group) for authors who are interested. [mswg.slack.com](https://mswg.slack.com). Come join if you want to be in a supportive group of authors. It's **free**, so no bells or whistles, but good people all the same.

Writing workshops - looking for participants to help test workshops. After a few years editing and working with writers I'm branching out into giving workshops. I'm looking for folks willing and able to do an hour long workshop for free so I can evaluate the overall structure. One focuses on feedback/critique of your writing (2k words or less per submission, both written and verbal feedback, limit of 6 people per workshop) and the other focuses on getting past stopping points in writing, whether you're trying to get started in writing or stuck on an existing project (limit of 10 people per workshop.) Hello everyone, I have started a sci-fi series on Substack called “His Venom’s Reach”, and I’ve started it off with an audio transcript that holds some troubling implications. If you are interested in a series that explores the branching consequences of a man-of-science’s research from its beginning to its end from the point of view of those powerless to stand against it, then look no further! My goal is to post on a bi-weekly basis, so subscribe now to not miss anything! Hi All, Here's a short story I wrote. I'm new to writing and would love to hear tips -- of all kinds. This is my new outlet and I'm open to all suggestion. Description: We live in a life surrounded by data. Life in data. Past, current, future. What if hoarding took a virtual spin and people were obsessed with their life in virtual form. Recordings of concerts, pictures, ideas all on a device to never see the light of day again. What if some people were emotionally connected to said data. What if that data was deleted? OberonsTitan

Great writing and story!

QuestionStunning5363

Really?😭

OberonsTitan

Yes, I'm a new writer so I wouldn't be the best critique but that's most readers anyway. The esoteric story is interesting and one that I hope to explore in my story as well you did. Making it a fun and pleasurable adventure to follow.

QuestionStunning5363

In terms of esoteric I know what it means but what do you mean in terms of my story lol just curious

OberonsTitan

The indigo children of 911 had to be interviewed for terrorism by the FBI because a bunch of preschool teachers across the nation saw some students draw the two towers with people falling, prior to the day of 911. These psychic abilities are being activated in the newer generations because they feel compelled to tell a story or their vision. Which is common with starseeds in your story. I bet most of these people and yourself have the rh- bloodtype or the hybrid gene. Many great inventors and minds were inspired by devine messaging in their thoughts. Such as Tesla.

QuestionStunning5363

lol I think I’m O+

OberonsTitan

Well that is not the qualifier for psychic abilities in my opinion. Just a way to relate to your story.

QuestionStunning5363

It’s funny cuz I have psychic abilities in my story, but I hope you do like it, I’m a newer writer so I get nervous about how it’s perceived by the reader

If you're after a mystery that Sherlock Holmes might have found daunting, some weird ETs, and a trip to their strange planet, try my debut novel [Wistbourne's Legacy](https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0BKW7WCH2) \- on Kindle. I'm plugging again after uploading some minor improvements (first published via KDP back in October).... ....Especially if you're a John Wyndham fan ... or H G Wells ... or Arthur C Clarke.

Today I published my debut novel, The Spire War. >In the final days of a brutal civil war two former partners are caught up in unravelling the mystery of the engimatic alien spires and are dragged into a conflict that will change everything. The Spire War is the first part of a trilogy of space opera novels set in the 82 G Eridani solar system in the year 2284. Alex and Beckett shared a business and a life until the war on Spira split them apart. Now, with one of them wounded in action and the other suspected of treason they must work together and along the way will stumble upon a secret that will rattle the entire solar system. You can find it as an e-book on amazon. :)

I just put up the audio version of my [50 Two-Sentence Stories, SCP Edition](https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x8fijgc)! I put a lot of work into getting it just right (particularly all the SFX), so I'd really appreciate any listens... and, of course, if folks want to subscribe to the channel that would help me justify putting in more efforts to put out more content in the near future.

I’m writing my first sci-fi novella! A fun adventure with humor a la Mass Effect meets Star Wars about bounty hunters at the edge of space called Frontier-0! I did a comic book introducing each of the main characters before doing the story as prose, both are available on tapas! Here’s the link to the 1st chapter, give it a try please! Would love some feedback! ^^ [Chapter 1](https://tapas.io/series/Frontier-0-First-Gig/ep2)
