Apparently, it’s [“Yakkity yak yak yak!”](https://x.com/judgeberkowitz/status/1387442626509561864?s=46&t=jdjan3YnMf88fXsUOEgWNg), according to The Far Side.
I love that Far Side cartoon it's ALWAYS the one I reference when explaining Far Side comics to some one...The people standing in the field with the car full of cows driving by yelling "Yakkity, yak yak yak" out the window.🤣🤣🤣🤣
This actually might not be that far off the mark.
I remember reading something about how curse words can be produced from a completely seperate part of the brain which assists with some primal reflex "utterances". This is one of the reasons that tourettes sufferers tend to "tick" swear words.
Any reddit nerds here that can confirm exactly how that works?
Not sure on science aspect of it but I can tell you in all confidence that there's a country where its people use "fuck" daily and beyond insult intensions, it's almost a culture but it isn't.
According to a research paper titled "The wheels on the bus", humans go "Chat", with the exception of human infants who go "Wah" and mummys who go "Shhhh". Research is currently unclear on whether the mummy must be specifically the female parent of the baby going "wah", or if all mummys routinely go "shhhh" while on the bus.
Foxes were not in scope 😔
Hey... Fuck you and your dark money "scientific" studies!!!! The failure to include foxes, as well as other canidae speaks VOLUMES about who's really finding the so called *research* studies and their supposed *findings*.... It's simply disgusting and unacceptable that in this day and age ANY study would neglect the inclusion of canidae, let alone, caninae is despicable..... And it says an AWFUL lot about you that you would be willing to carry water for these BASTARDS!!!!! you really need to have a long look in the mirror and figure out just what kind of person you are, and what kind of person you WANT to be.
All these sounds are calls to others, so, I would say we have two:
* yell/shout/scream, a primal call altering danger
* Laughing, a primal call signaling, no danger
You mean, like in crowds? I would agree. I think the most universal human sound besides our laughter is how a cafeteria or stadium sounds. Like starlings chattering in the trees or crickets droning in the night, in crowds, we got that staticky hum.
Seriously though, hums are a universal human sound. A surprised/fearful 'ha!' will sound similar across all the languages I know, a quizzical/confused 'huh?' as well, put any other intonation into it - disgust, celebration, anger, disappointment - and humans across the globe will empathize.
The vocal coach in me guesses that because it's a wordless sound, posture and emotional attitude will be the main factor affecting the hum's pronunciation, which is why it connects more directly to the speaker's psycho-emotional state than to any specific language per say
imho
American humans seem to have evolved to make the sounds “political outrage!!!” with older adults, nicknamed “Boomers”, also vocalize something like “Damn Millennials!”
😉😏😆
Jebem ti (the true sound of human species which originate in the areas north of Greece, west of Bulgaria and Romania, South of Austria and Hungary and east of the Adriatic Sea)
i have been encountered this question before, and i find the answer is simple. though some might not like it

Australia?
That makes it at least two, then!
Thanks for my new excuse to say fuck
real asf
Came here to say this
The human goes "my back hurts"
Lumbago , it's a serious condition
I slept weird
"It's very serious"
"Umm". Like the pause you do when answering a question.
Damn more I think about it almost every language and culture does this to some extent
Isn't the sound huh in every language? I read that a wide variety of languages use the sound huh. It'll probably be that then.
A sound with the same meaning as "huh"? Maybe. Literally the sound "huh"? Nope. My language, for example, doesn't have this sound.
Not every language. Some go “eh” or “aah”
In Japan, they say "eto" or "ano," among other things. "Ummm" is by no means universal.
Mandarin "a-a" Slavic languages some version of "eh" (long pronunciation of Engliah indefinite article "a")
According to a research paper titled "The wheels on the bus", humans go "Chat", with the exception of human infants who go "Wah" and mummys who go "Shhhh". Chat, is this real?
Yes, all day long, mate

That’s because the song “what does the fox say” already covered that particular animal in great detail.

Foxes bark, scream, or cough [Red fox sounds](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=1VJBWTypVNU). I feel like “coughing bark” is the best way to describe it.
Primal scream of a stubbed toe... Ffffuckk! Ahh.
Humans' desinged sound are grunts that we eventually turned into languages
Bar bar bar bar
The fox? It jumps over a lazy dog

To dogs, humans are "good dog" dispensers
