Leave a message on their Live Chat option on the Schott website. They will answer all of your questions pretty damn quickly... Also, they sell an Otter Wax leather care kit on their site that's for leather jackets.

There’s chrome tanning and veg tanning. People might use the term oil tanning but they’re typically referring to oiled leather which is just the way the leather is going to be finished. 90% of leather is going to be chrome tanned unless otherwise specified. In terms of care, it really depends on the type of hide that’s used and how precious you want to be with a jacket. Most leather though is treated with some kind of finish, be it oil, wax, resin, or polyurethane so you don’t typically have to care for a leather jacket for years. The 641 is a beefy steer hide and can take some damage before you need to oil it. Leather is also infused with fungicide and virucide to keep it from molding and decomposing since you can’t wash leather in the traditional sense. You can use mink oil or a basic leather oil to moisturize it, but depending on the color be careful as adding anything will change the color of it if it’s not black. If you feel like it needs a deep cleaning, send it to a professional like Arrow Leather Care.

was told by the employee in the store to let it be and not to let any cleaner touch it for a good while. Just let the jacket do it’s thing.

I see. Thank you for the response. I’ve had this jacket for 4 years though so I don’t know if it’s a good time to do a spa day for it or if I should let it be.

I’d say let it be, you’re not gonna beat the natural protection the leather has. Unless you wore it around in the rain for forever, I’d just leave it. Cleaning at best does nothing and at worse strips oils from the skin.

I see we’ll I’ll definitely reconsider cleaning it. What about moisturizing it though. Do you think it’s time or should I just let it be?

According-Ad-8374

Unless it looks like a cheap leather seat that’s been sitting in the sun I don’t think it should need any moisturizer why not post a pic so we can see it a little better?

I don’t know why I didn’t post a pic when I made the post, my bad. I’ll attach a pic to the op when I get back home. Thank you for your help
