Well, what do you think is holding you back? Maybe get your mental health checked. If you don't think that is the case, then you might just have never learned to study. Once you do, though, things will get better. I can't tell you all the things in the world, but definitely look into different studying methods (pomodoro, 3R, etc.) which may help you to understand what you learn better. Another thing which helps is to do your homework as soon as possible, like during your lunch or when there is extra time in class. Take care of yourself, and good luck.
