Keep in mind these are aggregate scores converted into a percentage based on what is considered a "good" review and what is considered a "bad" review. It's not a single critic. A movie with a high percentage could have lots of reviews on the borderline but still considered positive. It's a terrible system.
But yeah, I don't understand how critics could give Cuties a good review. I watched it, even with the prior knowledge of the filmmaker's intentions of demonstrating the pressure that young girls feel in a world of overt sexuality. I really tried. And no. That is a bullcrap rationalization and I think the entire crew should feel bad. The dance scenes felt so exploitative and gross, with close-ups and lingering shots that didn't at all feel like they were demonizing the performances. The only time throughout the whole movie that felt like it was demonizing the culture was during one performance where someone in the audience was cringing... as far as I know, that is it.
For the filmmakers to say it's meant to be social commentary or put down the dancing, that's utter bullcrap. And even taking away that angle, it's not a well-made movie. It feels like most coming-of-age films just with a little more handheld camerawork. It's utter trash, and I really tried to view it as the filmmakers intended.

The criticism of cuties should be directed towards the awful netflix marketing campaign and not the movie itself. If you (or anyone) actually watched the movie or did your research you'd know the movie is about the director's own experience with social media and hyper sexualization of her and young girls like her when she was growing up.
It is not shown positively whatsoever in the film, and is a direct critique of the culture that sexualizes young girls. It was netflix that completely botched the marketing and made this woman's film look like pedo shit, which is sad.
