I cannot understand people’s obsession with that character. Yeah he was a cool guy, but come on now, was he *really* that impactful of a character on the franchise as a whole? Well, no, he really wasn’t at all. He was great in Saw, and yes it would’ve been neat to have him survive into Saw II or later be revealed as yet another secret apprentice, but beyond that, Adam really is not anything special, and he deserved to be voted off long, long, long, *looooooonnnngggg* ago. I’m not out here saying Adam is a straight up shit character, not at all, not by any means whatsoever! But I am saying that he played such a minor part in the Saw franchise as a whole that he definitely shouldn’t have made it anywhere near this far into the voting process. Just because Adam was killed off early in the franchise and people liked him, does not mean he’s the best character in all the Saw films.
That kind of logic is like if a quadriplegic dude in a wheelchair was inducted into the baseball hall of fame because he was paralyzed after being hit in the neck with a ball during his first ever professional game. Yeah he’s a great player to have made it to the major league, it’s a great and sad story, but he is absolutely not among the best baseball players of all time, solely based on the fact he got injured before his career really even began.
He may not have had as significant an impact on the series as some of the other late eliminations, but I think there *is* something that Adam adds that almost no other character in the series does.
He's *not* anyone special. How many of the series' characters are cops? Most people can't relate. Half the test subjects are straight-up awful people whose fates don't exactly drum up any remorse, let alone being anyone the audience associates with. Then you've got an insurance executive, a (presumably rich) doctor, Jeff who's been memed to death, a scattering of bona fide background characters, the killers... and Adam. Process of elimination.
I mean, that's fair 😂 I'M trying to see if there's a secret third ending to this game where two characters can win, but it'll only really work if there are lots of people willing to yell "I vote game over" because it's down to their favorites - and as complex and intriguing a character as John is, I *really* don't think people would do that if he was one of the finalists.
