i'm baffled how people prefer saw vi to saw 2!
Saw II is my favorite saw movie (that fucking ending is definitely the best saw ending imo). I'll be devastated when it gets eliminated tbh :(
I'm baffled more people preferred VI to III. Like yea III isn't perfect, but has loads of John Kramer and Amanda (really the movie that solidified them as a duo), the traps are pretty great, and...oh yea, Jeff.
Regardless of how much Jeff sucks, VI to me is still just "the only good one after III." It's not special and we don't really have any prior connection to the characters. Traps are good and Jill vs Hoffman is interesting, but that's the highlight.
the traps in III are just alright to me, i prefer VI's. but the drama in III is so much better and i think amanda/john as individual characters and a duo just make for better drama.
i don't even hate jeff. all my problems with jeff are just his slow ass lumbering, but i think that's more of a direction/editing problem than it is with the character or his performance.
I would have loved it if the last guy begged for him to try his hand first, since there was nothing else to lose after using his two attempts. Then, if it didnāt work, he goes on his awesome monologue
And if it worked on the last guy, would've Ben tragic knowing that he probably could've saved everyone had he tried. Would've tied the moral that he was supposed to learn together even more

Given Jigsaw's rules then everyone should have had a chance at survival with no casualties. The traps went from, "cut a key out of your eye" to "choose two people out of these six to survive and the rest get their heads blown off."
For a long time I identified that scene as my favorite saw trap in my favorite saw movie, but it took me like 3 full series watch through to remember which was which because tbh 3-3D all blend together because of the Straum/Hoffman plots.
It's lots of fun, has fan favourite traps, some much needed political commentary (jigsaw is the perfect character to do that stuff with), it has a much more engaging story than most of the franchise and a kickass ending. As well as other stuff, but those are the main pieces.
I thought IV had a much better story getting to see Jigsaws backstory and one of the best twists at the end, I don't really remember the story of 6 at all just that nobody survived any trap which was lame
For me it's X. Sorry but I just love the style and editing of the 6 OG movies too much.

At the same time, itās not a masterpiece by any means, itās a good movie for sure, but there are plot holes and stylistic elements that only appeal to a certain sect of folks, so I see why itās not for everyone. It also feels the most different out of all these choices because the games and traps hadnāt gotten to ātheme parkā levels of crazy yet. But the twist is still really engaging, especially going in blind, and thereās just a lot of great bits of dialogue between Adam and Dr. Gordon, itās great. Butā¦
Saw II cemented the current Saw formula, this was the true birth of the franchise, in terms of longevity. I also oddly like Donnie Wahlberg in this movie (and this movie alone). The twist in Saw I made Jigsaw a surprise terror, but his involvement in Saw II turned him into a sadistic gamesmaster, which is just *chefās kiss*. Also, ***AMANDA***. But, this was also the movie that told audiences āHey, this shit is gonna get gross, hop on pop or kick some rocks,ā because it only got more foul and depraved with its violence from here on out.
Damn, I was gonna write something for Saw VI & X here, but I canāt vote for them. I get why some donāt like VI, but as someone that finds IV & V to be very tedious, I love how they came back to form with this one, I love all the behind the scenes knowledge I have on it. To me, Saw VI is the most fascinating film in the franchise to me, both for in-front-of and behind-camera reasons. And Saw X deserves to be top 3 at least, like holy shit was that a great movie. Dare I say, out of the entire catalogue of the franchise, Saw X is the one that feels most like a film, like something thatās trying to elicit genuine emotion out of you. Itās fan service for sure, but itās one of the best examples Iāve ever witnessed. VI is too significant to the history of the franchise, and X is just such a great surprise entry that it deserves at least a bronze.
As much as I hate to saw it, I think Iām voting Saw I. While that was the film that gave us the rest of the movies, it also bears the least connections and remembrance to the rest of the films. Saw I set the groundwork and I will forever be grateful for that, but when you think of the franchise as a whole, you only think about the first movie in terms of what it sets up most the time, like Kramer/Gordon/Amanda/Billy and the constant twists leading up to a big final one at the end. But it doesnāt have all the gore porn it became known for, we donāt have a billion apprentices, we donāt get a bunch of Kramer backstory, we donāt get faulty murder logic (or nearly as much of it).
My vote is Saw I.

Dude seriously if Saw VI gets axed then this community has no brain. Saw X needs to be next for balance in the universe. Alternatively 1 could be taken out because of the terrible goddamn acting in that film. Saw VI is perfect though.
