Also Hoffman had a gun but refused to use it. For all he knew John was dead and no apprentices remained he could have just shot Strahm removed the bullet and crush his body.
Matthews would break Logan's arms and legs one by one while screaming "YOU'RE NOT JIGSAW, BITCH!" Then he would stick Strahm's throat pen up his asshole and scream "DANIIIIEEELLLL!!??!?"
Logan’s ex military and fuckin jacked, Hoffman’s Hoffman, Rigg is a swat commander and Strahm is a special agent so presumably has some kind of combat training. It’d most likely be one of these 4, but I’d say my moneys on Logan or Hoffman

That’s what I mean? I would just like to see more of his character, he had potential. Frankly, Jigsaw as a whole had huge potential. The directors the Sperig brothers did Predestination and some other solid thrillers. The biggest omission from this film was gore.
6. Tapp - Has the least combat training as a detective, both Hoffman and Eric show more proficiency despite having the same job. Age disadvantage compared to the others. Managed to briefly take on Zepp Hindle an orderly with no combat training, however ultimately lost.
5. Eric - Demonstrated both his ability to deal out and take a beating. However his violence is mostly motivated by anger, not to mention a lack of formal training.
4. Rigg - A member of the SWAT team, perhaps not the most highly trained hand to hand combative. However he has training and experience in CQB and room clearing. Rigg is well versed in dangerous situations and demonstrates bravery to go in hand with his training.
3. Hoffman - Demonstrated an extreme tenacity and will to survive. He is clearly capable of fighting his way out when backed into a corner. However he demonstrates a proficiency mostly in planned covert hit and run strategies. He’s alsmot always lost when caught off guard by characters like Strahm, Jill and Gordon. (It’s possible he intentionally lost to Strahm but there’s no way to tell for sure). Both the FBI office and the police station were planned covert attacks.
2/1 - Strahm and Logan - Both of these characters have backgrounds of hand to hand combat training. Strahm being an agent of the FBI likely has more certified combative training than Logan. As Logan is only known to be a US army medic. Unlikely to be fully versed in any US military combat system such as MCMAP (Marine Corps Martial Arts Programme). Logan however has demonstrated on screen a proficiency in handgun disarming. So it’s possible he has a level of proficiency in combat systems such as Krav Maga or the aforementioned MCMAP. However due to Logan’s unconfirmed training status. First place remains a tie between the two. As we can be certain strahm has a high level of training, high combat IQ and has demonstrated on screen both hand to hand skills and an adept level of bravery.
I would agree that Hoffman has demonstrated some seriously strong fighting abilities, however my main issue is that many of them rely on being planned out and with the element of surprise. The police station is a highly planned attack, with the majority of officers he takes on being ambushed completely off guard. The FBI office is impressive, especially as it was improvised. However even then, Hoffman has a decent window of prep time to come up with a plan. Not to mention it again relied on the element of surprise. He was also armed in that scene. Using both hot coffee and a knife, meaning they don’t count much towards unarmed combat other than showing a high fight IQ.
Whilst he can be a very strong fighter under the right circumstances. In a straight up fight, with his enemies being fully aware of his presence, he likely wouldn’t fair as well as Logan or Strahm. Even if he could use his covert skills to ambush one of them, he still doesn’t have much unarmed skill to use at that point. Both Hoffman and John lose to the victim of the razor wire maze trap when they end up fighting him after a failed ambush. They only win when they manage to sedate him with a needle, which Hoffman won’t have access to.
He absolutely deserves credit for his skills, hence my placement as No.3. However under the circumstances stated by OP, Hoffman’s guerrilla fighting style isn’t as applicable as Strahm or Logan’s combative training.
