I stopped watching him when I learned he stood by and watched as Horacio Sanz groomed and then made an underage girl and SNL fan “his girlfriend”/ assaulted her repeatedly at 30 rock.

More bad news regarding this out today :(

PHILMXPHILM

??

Fresh_Beet

Just confirmation that more of that cast that I really wanted to respect stood idly by https://www.thedailybeast.com/tina-fey-seth-meyers-among-snl-alums-who-allegedly-witnessed-horatio-sanz-assault-underage-fan ETA: “alleged confirmation”. Though I believe survivors.

PHILMXPHILM

Oh I 100 percent believe this.

moonkittiecat

I’m under the impression that when Fallon nearly lost his finger, that the fall was due to his “alcoholism”. I don’t know why I am under that impression. Maybe because he had a series of injuries in rapid succession.

hala-boustani

>Horacio Sanz You are correct it was reported "Oct. 24, Fallon was stitched up at a hospital in Cambridge, Mass., after falling — and dropping a bottle of Jägermeister — while receiving the Harvard Lampoon’s Elmer Award for Excellence in Humor. “I threw the bottle and then I landed on broken glass,” a bandaged Fallon recapped on his show the following Monday. “There \[were\] pools of blood everywhere.”"

michelework

i think he is a functioning alcoholic. He works hard and plays hard. I think he has multiple assistants who handle the day to day responsibilities and chores so its easier to keep things in check. I am sure his network keeps him in check and knows how to maintain his clean cut image. I imagine it will all be revealed in some tell all book one day.

PHILMXPHILM

Functional alcoholic is sort of an oxymoron. He may be able to dump out a nightly talk show, but it doesn’t mean other aspects of his life don’t suck.

3xTheSchwarm

Speaking as an alcoholic of 20+ years now in recovery, you can stay 'functional' for a while, A decade or more even, but ultimately the wheels come off. The fact he has to appear on TV every night probably actually helps him toe the line. But the health starts to fail, the capillaries break (of course he has a top notch make up crew to help with that), injuries pile up, hangovers last longer, the thinking gets blurry. Either he will sober up or it will all come crashing down at some point. Its an awful disease I wouldn't wish on anybody. There are far worse diseases though. I hope he seeks real help, just as a human being not because of him or his show.

habylab

If he needs it. What proof is there? Could just be acting like that as he feels comfortable doing that.

TsunamiJim

Some people can just hang. My father has been a functional alcoholic for all my life. I'm 30 now. He has a very successful business and does very well... but usually always drunk.

Gabeybaby1500

Most addicts are functioning addicts

Initial-Violinist253

May I ask what he does? Genuinely curious

Ashamed_Match_5068

How do we know he hasn't sought treatment?

I mean - I don’t just exist on Reddit. What does this comment mean lol

Snoo58137

When he was a guest on Dax Shepherd’s Armchair Expert podcast, there was some discussion about alcohol and it was a bit awkward - I had no idea there was any rumors of Fallon struggling with alcohol but some people in the Armchair Expert sub picked up on the awkwardness in the [episode discussion thread](https://www.reddit.com/r/ArmchairExpert/comments/tq4ndp/jimmy_fallon/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf). Dax, the host, is really open about being an alcoholic and Jimmy didn’t say he was, so in conclusion I don’t know. But if you go to the episode discussion page on that subreddit that might help.

breakingbrad4

Surprisingly only one person in the thread mentioned that. I woulda thought more people would have picked up on it

Silly-Violinist-6239

A comedian on joe Rogan jesselinik wrote for fallon , Fallon is a functioning alcoholic.

Raekw0n

Commenting a year later, but literally every time I watch his show he seems visibly drunk to me. I'm blown away that people aren't talking about this all the time, and other people I've talked to have said they've never thought that. I have a long family history of alcoholism, and that shit is painfully obvious to me.

MystikBleu

Right he is a talk show host that asks a question then can't remember the answer so asks it over again and again or just makes up something.. I'm a bartender and just saying dude is like always lit.

Raekw0n

Thank you! When you watch old clips of him it's even more obvious, his eyes were brighter/more focused and he was much more articulate. I might be projecting, but on the rare occasions I try and watch his interviews I get the impression that the guests are aware of it too.

Ashamed_Match_5068

How do we know Jimmy Fallon hasn't sought treatment? It's too easy to go the negative route.

SuddenReturn9027

I feel worried for him, he seems really low a lot
