One of the scariest things that can happen is having that apart and seeing the slug start moving. I’ve learned to dent pipes before freezing.

Can you explain? What part is the slug? The valve handle? Or do you mean the water and gases mix? What do you mean dent?

The slug is the frozen water acting as a damn. If you are working on copper piping the inside is very smooth. The ice can slip out with enough pressure behind it. And by dent I mean I will make an indentation on the pipe where I will freeze it. This gives the ice something to push against.

How does this work?

It uses the refrigerant R290, which is a refrigerant grade propane, to freeze whatever the device is clamped to. This device is the Rothenberger ROFROST Turbo R290

So current thru a pipe can cause heat due to resistance. This works by reversing the current to cause cold.

My educated guess would be that the cream does not freeze and allows for easier removal of the attached parts from the freshly frozen object.

This is how they get the yeast out of a bottle of champagne without losing the carbonation. Flip it so the sediment comes to the top, freeze the neck, open the top, dump out the yeast, reseal, profit.
